Cute place, nice ambiance, fairly busy. Very expensive for what you get. My BBQ standard is simple, if you need BBQ sauce to make it good, it is bad. The pulled pork was good. 7/10. The brisket was bad 2/10. I ordered "moist" which indicated the point. My wife ordered "lean" (flat). Both were slimy, as they were not cooked long enough at at a temp which would allow the fat to properly render. Edible, yes, but good? Not by any standards. read more

First time trying. Young lady who took our order very nice and knowledgeable. Wife and I ordered the 2 meat special to share. Brisket was what we wanted most. She asked if we wanted lean or more fatty/juicy. We went for the juicy. We also selected ribs . Sides of Mac and cheese & sweet potato fries. Hush puppies and Texas toast. Big Tiny's is great Texas BBQ in the Carolinas. It's not often that I get brisket that reminds me of where I grew up. We waited out the rain and got dinner before Throttle Thursday tonight. We ordered the Dinner for 2 with three meats, two sides, and two breads (Texas toast and hush puppies please!). The kids (3 and 5) loved the hush puppies, Mac and cheese, and even ate some fried okra (my favorite). My husband and I did our best on the delicious meat, but had to get a to-go box. The value proposition here is great. Portion sizes made my eyes pop out. As a Texan, my concept of "barbecue" includes smoke. But I'm aware that NC does things differently, I guess with sauce. On our way home from visiting good friends in South Carolina we decided to stop in Mooresville to grab a late lunch/early dinner. As always, we searched Yelp and found Big Tiny's in our bookmarks. WOW, the entire experience was fantastic! It reminds us of visiting Tyler's BBQ in Amarillo, Texas. which is #4 on Yelp's Top 100 BBQ Spots, 2024. We parked on the street in historic downtown Mooresville and walked to the front door located below the bright blue canopy. We were very impressed with the historic downtown area, the architecture and overall charm. It appears a lot of effort has been made to bring life back to the historical area. We love and appreciate the industrial feel and preserved exposed brick inside. Big Tiny's is decorated very tastefully and is warm, welcoming and appears to be very clean. The style is similar to other BBQ restaurants where you follow the order line to the counter, place your order and have a seat. They bring your order out to you. Fortunately for us, there was no line. As we made our way to the order counter, we looked at the pictures on the wall. We quickly understood the name, Big Tiny is in honor of the owners dog, "Big Tiny" Maddox. The proud owners share their story along the wall as you approach the counter. We were greeted by a woman who was friendly and helpful. We asked her about her favorite menu items and also asked if the chili had beans. When she told us it didn't and offered us a sample, we were eager to try. Their chili is made with brisket and ground beef. We were amazed with the size of the sample provided and we quickly ate it up. It was so good, we both knew we were going to order more! My wife decided to try a few sides to go with her small chili. She chose the sweet potato casserole and coleslaw and we ordered a large hush puppies to share. I chose the pulled pork sandwich with baked mac and cheese as my side. I also ordered a small chili with cheese and onions. We filled our drinks and went to a table to wait for our food to arrive. A young woman delivered our food and it all looked absolutely delicious. As usual, my phone ate first, but after the pics were taken we immediately dug in. The chili was really, really, good. It actually inspired us to make brisket chili in the near future when meal prepping. You can't go wrong with hush puppies and the large order is clearly large enough for multiple people and/or leftovers. My wife is new to eating and loving sweet potatoes and when she gets the chance to order sweet potato casserole, she jumps at the opportunity. She assured me that Big Tiny's does it well! She also enjoyed the coleslaw. I ended up eating the chili, mac and cheese and hush puppies and saving my pulled pork sandwich. I really enjoyed the mac and cheese, I am a bit of a mac and cheese connoisseur and it was delicious. We also couldn't resist and ordered a banana pudding when we were finishing our meals and it was equally delicious. Oh, and I also had go back and get a pint of their chili to go for my lunch during the week. A perfect five star experience, we are already excited to come again when passing through the area. This was a very horrible experience. I frequent this restaurant a lot and today I went inside to place a to order. As I was waiting, this middle aged white guy approached me , tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was going to sit where I was seated at. I responded yes and he replied yeah that's typical of a black woman. The manger comes out and basically defends him for his racism. I will NEVER eat at this restaurant again. read more

Is this the best bbq I've had? No. But! Is this the best bbq I've had for spending this little money? Absofreakinglutely. Sauces are a bit basic but they're good. Spare ribs don't exactly fall off the bone but they're juicy and oh damn is that a good rub. Pulled pork has a nice tang to it and good flavor. Goes well with the slaw. Brisket passes the fork test (if you need a knife, it fails) and also had a nice rub on it. Overall it's good quality 'cue but at deceptively low prices. Great find here in Mooresville. read more

Well-priced with a nice staff and, most importantly, quality barbecue. Big Tiny's is a nondescript place that we came upon while visiting downtown Mooresville for lunch one weekday afternoon. They seem smaller on the outside than they are inside - this is a large, warm, inviting place to visit for lunch or dinner! They are very similar to Mission BBQ in their design and service. I'm very glad my husband and I stopped in for lunch! I had the small pork plate with macaroni and cheese and a corn muffin. My husband had the large brisket (lean) plate with pinto beans, coleslaw, and hush puppies. Their pork BBQ doesn't really need any extra sauce, as it was very tender and juicy. Their macaroni and cheese is some of the best I've ever had! It's the drier kind, with baked cheese on top, and plenty of cheese inside. The corn muffin was the sweet variety, and very moist. Love this family place for BBQ. I had the sliced brisket which was done to perfection and had just the right amount of smoke flavor. It came with a couple of sides, baked beans and Mac and cheese which were also very good. The homemade BBQ sauces are a great addition. There is no real table service, you place your order at the counter and then they let you know it's ready. Inside is clean and spacious so you not sitting on top of the next table. I've heard some people say the price of BBQ is too high and to those people I say "have you ever looked at the price of beef? It breaks my heart to report this, but there is nothing worse than having to pull a worker's hair out of your mouth like you just got done flossing after a dentist appointment. I informed a worker thinking they would inform a manager or owner, but no one came over to talk to us. 1st time in and tried a 2 meat combo with brisket and pork. They offer the brisket moist or dry (fatty or not). Pork was mixed with sauce already, not a fan of. Tasted like it was out of a can. Fantastic food! I've been back several times in the last month. I love the chopped brisket and pulled pork.

All the food was delicious! We especially enjoyed the creamed corn. It was magical. The service was also great.

Great flavor in the meat and the different BBQ sauces they had. All of the sides were good too. Service was fast, and you just order at the counter. The price was also pretty unbeatable for bbq anywhere, including Texas. Restaurant is clean and not smoky or dark inside at all. My friends wanted to hang out on Monday downtown and have some food and some beers. We stopped into Big Tiny's in Mooresville. The place was very clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful towards us. I got a Jalapeño sausage with chili and a craft beer. My friends got a BBQ sandwich and fries. The sausage with chili was really good. I tried some of my friend's BBQ and it was spot on ! Plan on coming back and ordering the BBQ. This is a place worth a visit IMO. read more

was here a couple times a long time ago and wasn't really impressed but I continued to hear good things about Big Tony's so I chunked it off to bad timing more than anything else. in tonight on a two-fer and when I got to the counter I asked for two sausage dogs, one Texan and one Jalapeno plus corn and a soda. "would I care for slaw to go with the sandwiches?" that would be lovely, thank you :-) got a food flag and claimed a spot in the dining room, saw about two minutes of the Bills game when my food arrived. YEAH! immediately sent the runner back for a box to take half of it home because these things are big enough to count as a meal each if you add a vegetable. sausage comes out warm and delicious and sticking out both ends of the roll. shot some sweet red sticky stuff on both sides before adding the chopped slaw. made my way through with some restraint, every bite tasting like west Texas. the whole ensemble is amazing and just fatty enough to stay moist without making my heart hurt - FYI: the cream corn is a winner with a pinch of black pepper. totally looking forward to microwaving the jalapeno version of this at lunch tomorrow! still thinking I should have got some corn breads for a spoon of jelly as afters... read more

I write this review from the point of view of a group. We ordered Big Tiny's for our Thanksgiving meal feeding about a dozen adults and a handful of kids. We had the brisket, the ribs, the smoked turkey, and the pulled pork. Sides were the beans, creamed corn, and mac and cheese. Order was prepared as requested and service was very friendly and helpful in giving guidance on warming the food. Most of our guests raved over the sides mostly. The BBQ was just typical. Surprisingly lacking in smoke flavor. Turkey dry rub was way too salty. But like I said, as a group, people were very happy. read more
