Sharon Bader is an honest and caring dentist. I have a couple of very minor issues (receding gums, chipped crown-from another dentist), that previous dentists have wanted to "correct" for $$$. I have had excellent care. My husband and I started seeing Dr. Bader last year. She's helped us finish some dental work we've been putting off. They have a great staff and are easy to communicate with. She has done quite a few crowns on my husband and one on myself. Her hygienist is fabulous and so kind. I recently had a dental emergency and the Dr was right there to take care of me, even thou I knew she was very inconvenienced because I called at a very last minute difficult time. I am not an easy patient. I am nervous and honestly, hate being at the dentist. I have been going to Lake Pleasant Dentistry for years now and would not want to go anywhere else. I have since moved further away and drive to see Dr. Bader because she makes me feel welcome and always has the best chair-side care. I have had cleanings, crowns, fillings and have had interactions with most of the staff. They do a great job of keeping you informed of expected costs after insurance, they are friendly and always do their best to get you in at a convenient time for your schedule. Considering I hate going to the denitst, I don't mind going into the office. Love seeing all the friendly faces and really appreciate the respect and care I am shown every time I am there. First visit today. I was an hour late as I wrote the wrong appointment time and they still fit me in. I was embarrassed and grateful. All of the staff I came in contact with were helpful and genuinely kind. Lisa took my x rays and did such a great job on my cleaning. I get a lil nervous and she's so calming. Dr. Bader is an excellent dentist. I've had four or five different dentists over the years and she's far and away the best of them. I like that they are more interested in my teeth than selling me up-sale add-ons like most dentists. Not that she wouldn't recommend additional treatment if appropriate. Dr. Bader has done this when I needed laser treatment on my gums and a great result for what it cost. I've been her patient since 2005 and have never had a bad experience in treatments, billing, getting my appointment on time, etc. I just looked through the reviews and noticed a 1 star rating from a patient that had a problem with their dental insurance plan and felt like I needed to comment on it. I felt it unfair. Having an unusual dental insurance plan and a billing problem doesn't warrant a one star rating. Regardless of which dentist, if you have an insurance plan with a limited network, the question you would ask when setting up your appointment is, "Do you accept XYZ insurance plan AND are you in XYZ provider network?". Further, most insurance plans have a list of dentists in their network, so why wouldn't you take five minutes and check it? Knowing Dr. Bader, she'd try to figure it out, if possible, and her office manager would tell you if their practice is out of network for that plan. I've never had a problem with billing at Lake Pleasant Dentistry but have always had typical insurance plans such as Delta or MetLife or something common like that. They even offer various payment plans if you have to stretch payments over several months. read more

They treated me horribly. After confirming by telephone that my insurance is accepted, I was told my insurance wasn't in network. (That was upon arrival of my first appointment) They wanted to charge me 180 bucks for a cleaning. My plan pays 100 percent. Then, they couldn't take x-rays correctly. They took 15 - 20 x-rays. How did this practice get 5 stars on Google? Some of the staff is extremely inappropriate and rude. read more

Dr. Bader and her staff are just like family from the moment of walking through the door! They are very attentive and very efficient at appointment making and managing patients at the appointment! Dr. Bader went above and beyond when doing too simple fillings and fixed an issue that I had tried to get fixed at my prior dentist and was told that I would need crowns. Best dentist office ever! My husband and I both had dental emergencies within a month of each other and Lake Pleasant Dentistry got us both in the same day so we didn't have to suffer in pain. The dentist and her back of house staff are great! The office staff is not- they sent me a bill for the full amt. when I have full coverage PPO. I called and left messages 4x with no response over a 10 day period. I even messaged through the website with no response. Eventually I had to take time off work to go there in person to resolve this. The office manager told me the bill was sent by an automated system, and it was invalid and to it ignore it, blamed it on another staff member. I would've rated this clinic 5 stars if not for this incident. read more

I moved to the area from out of state last year. Prior to then my previous dentist had me scheduled for once per year cleanings since I do such a good job cleaning my teeth and I had only had one cavity in my life (I'm in my late 30s). When I first visited Dr. Bader last September I was told I had a cavity and because of gum issues I should come in for cleanings every 3 months. I was quite surprised. I had the cavity filled, but due to finances I waited six months for the next cleaning. In March I went in for my cleaning and was told I had two more cavities! Here's where I have an issue. At both cleanings, the hygienist told me everything looked fine and it wasn't until Dr. Bader came to look that cavities were spotted. The cavities were not spotted on x-rays, but she saw "shadows" on my teeth. I can't prove that I don't have the cavities (until I visit another dentist), but I find it very suspicious that I had one cavity my whole life and then all the sudden have three in six months, and go from once a year cleanings to needing cleanings every three months. I worked in the dental field for seven years, which I did not disclose to Dr. Bader or her team, and I discussed this with a friend of mine in the field and she also found it very suspicious. She said if there was a "shadow" normally they would just keep an eye on it, not do a filling immediately. Also, during the second visit the hygienist said they were doing a new oral cancer screening and shined a light in my mouth. She made it sound like this was just part of the visit. However, when I left I was charged $25 for the screening (I don't have dental insurance and pay cash). I don't appreciate having a procedure done at an extra cost without my authorization (after I complained, I did get a refund). Again, I can't prove anything yet about the cavities, but I feel very uncomfortable at this point about going back. I'm going to go to another dentist for my next visit to get a second opinion. Dr. Bader and her staff were so nice and it was pleasant experience (which cannot be said about most dental visits). I came in with a toothache and while I was given a referral to a specialist, I will definitely being going back to see Dr. Baber for future dental work. They were conscientious of my time, I had an early morning appointment and they did their best to get things done in a timely manner. They made me feel comfortable and explained procedures and my benefit coverage in a way that was understandable. Great Doctor and great staff! read more

I'm terrified of the dentists I've had to deal with butchers in the past that have ruined my teeth. my daughter has been going here for a few years, great experience in the beginning but the last 2 have been horrible. with the first experience, the hygienist was rude and very short, my daughter never complains and is pretty agreeable and even passive. she said she felt like she was a big inconvenience, the hygienist was almost a big aggressive with her care. I was annoyed but figured maybe a bad day??? next visit, we got there early, waited a long time only to finally get back and not get all the work done as scheduled due to "their lunch break" the dentist was pretty short and unkind and left my daughter feeling like it was all her fault. in talking with a family member who I thought I still went there, she said oh no she stopped going long time ago, didn't like how the Dentist talked to the staff or some of the patients. I don't leave any yelp reviews but I'm just disappointed I don't know if the practice has gotten too big but I think it's pretty sad when whatever you're going through comes across to your patients. We all have issues we all have struggles but the bottom line is this is your business. I guess it's time to find a new dentist, sadly. read more

I came in as the last (and new) patient of the week. A crown had fallen off and needed to be reinstalled. Dr. Bader stayed overtime, did not rush and pinned and cemented the crown back on. The procedure was very tenuous to pin around the nerve but was pain free (the first ever pain free anesthetic shot for me) and the whole procedure was obviously done with skill. I have been to the dentist a thousand times but this rates at the top of my experiences. I have just moved back to Arizona and will now only go to this office for my dental needs. Vet unprofessional-hygentist brushing her teeth in the hallway by the patients and talking with it in her mouth, my what would of been hygentist texted saying she slept in and was going to be late(the other workers said it out loud numerous times and didn't try to hide it), 2 patients were in the waiting room before the receptionist even logged in at exactly 7 when the office opened, at 7:18, 18 minutes after my appointment time, I aksed if the dentist was even here and then I went off on my list of complaints. When I heard about Lake Pleasant Dentistry I heard a lot of great things. I live 45 minutes away from this office, but I gave it a try because of the positive reputation they had. Let me start by saying that this was the best experience I have had going to the dentist. Starting with the office staff everyone was super friendly. I did not have to wait more than five minutes to get taken back to get started. When they brought me back, every staff member I encountered going to the dental chair asked me how I was doing and struck up conversation. They really made me feel welcomed. When I meant Dr. Bader I was really impressed with how genuine she was and how efficient she was with getting my work done. Dr. Bader was great and I ended up going back a few weeks later to get more work done. Overall, this office is a great place to get your dental work done, and I highly recommend it. read more

I broke a tooth and liked the website of Lake Pleasant Dentistry so booked an appointment for the next day and told them I had a broken tooth. When I arrived I was asked what the problem was " I have a broken tooth". I was shortly escorted to a chair and listened to the chatting around me. "I love it when I get to do a crown!" "I can't get this crown to stick!" "What are you doing this weekend?" I felt as though I was in a dental school! A tech finally came in and asked what the problem was. "I have a broken tooth". She took an xray of the tooth but seemed to be a little confused as to how to do it. After another very long wait, Dr. Bader came in and asked what the problem was. "I HAVE A BROKEN TOOTH!". She looked at the tooth and had the same tech take a picture of it. She then informed me that I needed a crown or they could put in a pin and a filling. I asked the cost of each. I was told someone would let me know. After one hour of sitting in that chair, I decided to leave. As I was heading out the door, I was told the price of the filling and of the crown and they might have time the next day to fix the tooth. I had had enough of that unprofessional place. I went to another dentist who was able to fix the tooth to my satisfaction and give me the prices immediately. I am now receiving a bill for $113 from Lake Pleasant Dentistry. I will never pay it. I truly loved the dentist and her staff. The reason my rating isn't higher is due in part to scheduling. On the day I received my crown, I realized that it was way too long because when I chewed the tooth would strike the natural tooth below it and cause jarring pain. I immediately called, and was given an option to go back same day at 1 pm. The class that I was teaching did not release for lunch at that time, and I could not get someone to cover me. I asked would there be anything available the next day, so I could make arrangements. I was told I'd have to wait a week. So I waited.... For a week I had to talk carefully, and eat gingerly/ soft food. Even though I took those precautions, I struck my tooth on that crown at least 5 times. The pain was mind numbing each and every time. The day of the appointment, I called to reschedule for same day( I got delayed at the voting booth). I was told I could not be seen for another 14 days. At this point I felt a hostage to my tooth. I asked the young lady on the phone if there was anything that could be done example: another dentist, heck me filing the darn thing. She said no.... It dawned on me that I may need to find a new dentist because this dentist was way too busy. When I voiced my concerns of the need of possibly finding a new dentist outside of the current situation. She said, "OK..." No questions, no sound of concern. Just the overall impression thaT my pain/I didn't matter. I was shocked, it was out of character of what I experience on my previous two visits. I thought to myself, being kind when things are going well is easy. The true test, is how are you treated when things are less than ideal. Her lack of regard for my pain just confirmed my decision to find a new dentist. A dent. Update: My issue is resolved and the staff was warm and friendly. read more

I've been going to Lake Pleasant Dentistry for 2-3 years now and Dr. Sharon Bader is hands-down the best dentist I've ever had. I've traditionally had bad experiences with dentists and am always wary of any dental procedure, but I've never felt more comfortable than with Dr. Bader. She is very accommodating, puts you at ease, explains all the options and does GREAT work and will stand behind it. She did a pretty complex crown for me when the tooth was borderline whether it could be saved and it worked out great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I am one of those people who puts off going to the dentist because every time I find a new dentist I leave remembering why I don't like the dentist. NOT this time. Dr. Bader and her staff took great care of my poor neglected teeth (it has been at least 5 years since I last saw a dentist). They did everything they could to minimize my discomfort, they were pleasant, personable, and never once made me feel guilty for the length of time since my last dental visit. In addition, the office is very new, very clean, and technologically very up to date. Overall I am very impressed, and I have an appointment for 6 months from now which I even intend to make. I went as a new patient to have 4 cavities filled in one sitting since Dr. Bader said it wouldn't be a problem doing them all at once (estimated time was 90 minutes). The same hygienist that cleaned my teeth during my initial visit applied anesthesia to all areas (in my experience the doctor has always applied the anesthesia, not the hygienists). When Dr. Bader came into the room I could tell that she was rushed, even though I was scheduled to have 4 fillings. During the first filling she commented to her assistant "only shine the curing light for 5 seconds, you can cure it more when I'm done". Dr. Bader's assistant barely had time to perform her tasks because Dr. Bader was hovering right behind with the instruments to do what she needed to do. As soon as the first filling was done Dr. Bader told her assistant to explain what was done and rushed off. Upon Dr. Bader's return I learned that the anesthesia was "low power" and according Dr. Bader they should have used laughing gas on me because this anesthesia only lasts 45 minutes so they needed to apply more anesthesia. Then began the worst dental experience of my life. The second filling was between two teeth and Dr. Bader got "creative" in her words and filled it from the side. She then rushed off again but not before telling her assistant to remove the clamps and equipment still in my mouth. According to the assistant this was the first time she was removing a clamp. After a valiant effort the assistant went to get Dr. Bader who returned and even after much tugging and pulling was unable to remove the stuck clamp. This meant that Dr. Bader had to drill the newly applied filling, remove the clamp, and do the filling again. Part of this process involved Dr. Bader applying MORE anesthesia which she rushed and in her haste it felt like she hit a nerve which caused my lower lip and tongue to tingle / sparkle / radiate with pain. Once complete Dr. Bader removed the clamp and rushed out again, telling her assistant to get my mouth ready for the third cavity. I told the assistant I wasn't staying for the third filling. I checked the time and it had been just over 2 hours. The assistant went to tell Dr. Bader who returned asking, "Are you in pain?" to which I replied "No, but this has been the worse dental experience of my life." I firmly told Dr. Bader that it wasn't the assistants fault, it was Dr. Bader's fault because she is responsible for knowing the assistants skill set and ability. I also said that I would pay for the work that was done but I was going somewhere else. Other negatives that I didn't include above because it is already so long: 1. The assistant for my fillings kept having to leave the room to get supplies / equipment that Dr. Bader was requesting. This resulted in Dr. Bader continuing to drill without suction or water. The result was smoke rising from my mouth and the acrid smell of drilled tooth. 2. Dr. Bader was going so quickly that the assistant couldn't keep up so I was knocked in the head multiple times by arms and elbows. Tools were also dropped on the floor and on me. 3. Many of the staff only speak broken English and Dr. Bader is difficult to understand at times when she is speaking to you during the procedure. 4. The staff pushes hard for 5 star Google reviews. They even follow people as they are leaving and ask them. The one redeeming part of this whole experience and the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that Dr. Bader didn't charge me for the fillings. With that being said, these are my teeth, you only get so many second chances with them. I'm going to see a different dentist in a couple days and I'm very afraid that I will need to have the fillings redone. I will update this review once I have visited the other dentist. I strongly advise against going to Lake Pleasant Dentistry. Please, for the long term sake of your teeth and dental health, take the time to find another dental practice in the area. Even if you have to drive a little farther or go out of your way. read more

I, like Melissa G. who wrote a review, am one of those people who has a dislike for dentists because I've had several negative experiences. What started off as a pleasant dental experience with Dr. Bader turned into a dental nightmare. Her "gentle" dental turned into anything, but that. Her level of professionalism and courtesy went south the minute I questioned her about an issue with a particular tooth of mine that, I feel, she missed. She filled this tooth that I was having only minor/occasional sensitivity with. After filling it, I went through 2+ months of horrible pain that eventually led to pain throughout the entire left side of my face/neck. After multiple visits/x-rays/exams, she sent me for a root canal. In one single x-ray the endodontist who did the root canal saw the problem. I scheduled all of my follow-up care with Dr. Bader, but spoke with her office manager, Tracy, prior to going in for my rebuild of the tooth and fitting for my crown. I explained to her what the endodontist discovered and asked if there was any way that Dr. Bader could work with me on this issue as I had now been charged and paid for multiple x-rays, fillings, etc....all without Dr. Bader seeing the real problem that, according to the endodontist, should have been clues to the root resorption I was experiencing and that existed before Dr. Bader even drilled into the tooth to fill it. I went into the office to have Dr. Bader finish the work on my tooth and it was only after she drilled into the tooth AGAIN that she had her office manager hand me a letter saying she had no respect for me as a patient and that she refused to finish the work on my tooth. She literally filled my tooth and then left me sitting there in the chair without saying she was finished or that I was free to go. Her technician had to come and tell me that I was done after I sat there for 5 minutes waiting. I was scheduled for her to rebuild my tooth AND get fitted for my crown. When Dr. Bader came in to work on my tooth, she merely informed me that she was going to take out the temporary filling from the endodontist and put a permanent one in. I asked her why I was getting fitted for my crown as her office manager had scheduled me for and her response was, "I don't have time in my schedule for that"...a blatant lie. Had I known that she had such little respect for me as a patient and was so unprofessional and prideful that she, herself, could not even discuss the issue with me, I would NEVER have let her touch me! Any doctor/dentist worth his/her salt should not be offended when a patient politely calls into question something that is being done to their body. Dr. Bader is, obviously, not that dentist. Interestingly, I went home and posted my awful experience with Dr. Bader and her office and within 5 minutes had comments from 2 other people saying that they wish they had known it was her office that I had been to, because they, too, had had HORRIBLE experiences with her and would have steered me as far away from her as possible. read more
