Cannot rave enough about Dockside Grill. Every time we go there it feels like we're on vacation and we actually live nearby. Gorgeous scenery surrounds you mixed with boaters and fun music. The food is always fresh and good quality. The bar is just fun. The staff work well together and apparently care for each other. We feel very lucky to have this gem of a spot on Lake Sintustus. read more

We had a wonderful stay with our family! We had 16 people in our party. Highly recommend getting a golf kart... those hills are steep. Bathrooms were clean, kids loved the park, and the pickleball court was a hit! The boat rentals are fair and the water slide pontoon was good. We just finished a three night stay at this park and had a great time! Our spot was down on the water. Even though it rained pretty well the first night and part of the second day, the spots are all covered in large gravel so it was not muddy at all. The atmosphere was very calm and inviting, other campers around, everyone was very friendly. There were bathrooms, including showers, easy to access, as well as two large dumpsters and even extra fire pits. BTW, the fire pits and recycled washer drums so there are holes all around them which makes the heat come through really nicely! Already have next Memorial Day weekend booked! read more

My partner and I chose this place to celebrate our 12 year anniversary, and we couldn't be happier... literally was our best spent anniversary, to date! Every single person who worked there treated us like family. JAY is the man, for sure. He was the boat man, and the everything around the resort man.... the great for a laugh man, and totally the man to ask for food recommendations. (Antojitos in Madras had the best salsa!) Shannon was so welcoming and attentive, and totally down to earth and fun to chat with. And Chrystal (spelling?) really had us sold on the bot rental.... (worth it!-get the pontoon!!!!) We were treated like friends... Our tiny home was absolutely gorgeous. Amazing view, full amenities, clean, and very well maintained. Hot tub ready to go! We have been considering tiny home living for ourselves long term, and after our stay here, I am pretty convinced it's for us. this is one of our new favorite places to escape to. It's worth every penny. And I didn't want to leave. read more

The place was clean and maintained well. The staff was friendly. We rented the RV. While I will not complain about the loud people or loose pets, because this is not the fault of the resort, I have to say that our RV smelled like a sewer. Upon checkout the resort host asked how everything was a s when i mentioned the sewer smell her first reply was "oh! STILL?" And that's as far as that went. I would have expected some type of compensation or something, as this was a known problem. I didn't ask or pursue any resolution because the first night, I couldn't find the light switches for me bedroom, and the host didn't know where they were either. So instead of helping to resolve the issue I was left to figure it out myself. Which is real fun in the dark.. because...you know...I could t find the light switch. The next morning I did figure out how to turn on the lights. They have golf carts available for going up and down..and up and down..and up and down..the resort. You can rent them, or you can use the two courtesy ones they have. I never had any issue finding the courtesy carts. But either way..you will need it. The RVs are parked within 15 feet of each other so you will hear everything from the other renters. Also, the area outside your RV is gravel. Medium sized sharp stone gravel. And for the most part, level. I hope the move the rvs farther apart in the future, and add a more hospitable outdoor area. Maybe even fences between the rvs. All in all a pretty place. We stayed for weekend to celebrate my birthday and I cannot wait to go back! We stayed in the tiny home c15 and we had everything we needed. Only thing is we didn't know there wasn't a tv (we fall asleep to tv/noise) and there were sugar ants on the kitchen counter and a few on the bed but to be expected out camping! This is a unique RV park. We spend a good portion of July bouncing around with the travel trailer. We've seen lots of RV parks and nothing comes close to Simtustus. It's down in a lake filled canyon with a very narrow windy road. It's not dangerous or anything but you have to be ready for oncoming cars and blind curves. The spots are up on terraces with excellent views. The staff were warm and friendly. They gave us an extra spot so we could park completely sideways facing the lake. Overall I loved it and look forward to going back next summer. read more

Their new Tiny Home rentals are the perfect way to relax and just get away from it all. Situated with fantastic views of a small cove off of Lake Simtustus and with the perfect amount of privacy and solitude, I know we will return again and again. There are a few options for cabins/tiny homes to choose from depending on the number in your party, we left 2 of our dogs at home and only brought our senior pooch for her own get away from the other 2 and so the single room Tiny Home was just perfect. Murphy bed pulls down from the wall so during the day you ave more room to spread out. The kitchen area was small, functional, and had really great high end appliances from a conduction top range to a microwave/convection oven and an large refrigerator. The location is pretty remote so we had definitely planned and brought food to prepare and not have to venture out anywhere. Coffee on the porch in the morning in the crisp air was the perfect way to start each day. There is a bit of WiFi close to the office and we were able to get a bit of signal in our unit which was the closest to the office so probably not the place to go if you are attached to your gadgets or need reliable phone or internet connection constantly, but, if you have Verizon they do have an extender so that you can make and receive calls close to the office if needed. Perfect place to escape from the outside world if that is what you desire though, but definitely not roughing it at all. They do have a few items in the shop off the office if you forgot anything and were super helpful and friendly. Can rent pontoon boats, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, etc. and the lake itself is calm, peaceful, quiet, no jet skis or other loud motors to disturb your peaceful lake escape. read more

What a lucky find! A friend and I were headed over Hwy 26 to Smith Rock for a night of camping when along came the Pelton Dam. The river below (actually Lake Simtustus - a part of the Deschutes River) looked so blue and inviting that we decided to take a pit stop and look around the area. As we drove down toward the water, we took in the beautifully-jagged terrain and the high desert air. Just 3 miles into our scenic turn-off, we ran into the Lake Simtustus RV Park. The first thing we noticed was the tiered camping/parking area lined with trees, overlooking the lake, and surrounded by gorgeous canyon walls. KJ and his dog Nikki greeted us with a big smile and showed us around. Because it was the winter season, almost all the spots were open, however, the air was warm and the sun was shining (the beauty of the eastern side of the Cascades). The bathroom is heated, the running water was hot, and the toilets were spotless! MUCH, MUCH better than any public campground; maybe even cleaner than YOUR bathroom! How could we say no? So we ditched our Smith Rock plans and went with our gut. Although this is primarily an RV park with hookups galore, KJ was nice enough to set us up with the best spot on the lot and allowed us to pitch our tent and use the rock fire pit. He even set us up with firewood! We sat around the fire and took in the silence (even being just off the main highway, we couldn't hear a single car!). The sunset was definitely one for the books. Perfection... Being open year-round, I am sure Lake Simtustus will have much more to offer in the warmer seasons...but I do not have a single complaint for our winter excursion. Maybe we just got lucky with our timing, but I will definitely be going back for more! read more

I'm pretty sure I had my favorite camping experience here. We tried to outrun a summer storm but ended up staying here. The huge thunder & lightening storm reflected off the cliffs back at us all night. Our campsite had it's own little private dock. Awesome. read more

Just spent a great weekend here, our first with the new owners, super nice couple, hopefully their new venture will be everything and more than hoped for. The resort is absolutely beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms were incredibly clean. Owners drove around numerous times daily making sure sure guests needs were being met. Oh yeah almost forgot, the fishing was brag worthy. We plan on many more stays there. read more

Wish I could give more stars!! Beautiful property and super nice owners that share this piece of heaven with the public! It was really windy but still really enjoyed it. Would love to go back closer to summer time with warm weather so we could swim and kyak. We have a 35 ft RV with a 9 foot trailer behind with toys and just took it slow on the road in and out. There are two ways to go, both narrow windy roads. Make sure you have good brakes and are an experienced driver. The park has parking for your boat trailer and a boat would be fun to explore and fish. Summer time definitely bring or rent kyaks there. There are several levels to the park and almost all sites have beautiful views. Park is VERY clean and they sell propane, have a small store, gift shop and nice laundry. Definitely pride of ownership here! Will go back for sure. read more
