Worth. Every. Penny. Kelly is a magician. I have a pear shaped body, and of course I chose a form fitting wedding dress with elaborate beading and lace on the top. I had to order a size 12 to fit my hips, and my bust is about a size 4, so it needed to be taken in A LOT. Kelly was so accommodating of my schedule, and had such incredible attention to detail throughout the entire alterations process(I had to go in 4 times because I kept losing weight from the stress of wedding planning, but she was so patient with me and wanted it to be perfect, which I appreciate SO much). I brought in my wedding dress to be tailored by Kellie. She was pretty nice and the price was reasonable. I didn't love that one time, she mixed up our appointment date but the reason I'm giving one star is because the sleeve of my dress had a seam come completely undone and I didn't notice it until a few days before my wedding. My dress is a two piece and I only tried on the skirt during my pick up. My mistake was not seeing the top as well but it didn't feel right that this seam would be completely busted for the price I paid her. read more

This tailor is amazing. I brought a romper here a few weeks ago in need of a new zipper. I picked the item up a week later and it looked absolutely perfect with a beautifully working new zipper. $25 for a new zipper seemed like a fair deal to me as well since replacing zippers and that kind of thing can be time consuming. Purchased this shirt online back in July, and dropped it off at Lake Street Tailor. Paid for the alterations and gave them 3 weeks. They told me it wouldn't take any more than 2 and they would text me when it was done. They never bothered to text me. I'm kind of a fashionista and somewhat quirky to my needs in tailoring. I'll bring in t-shirts that I want the sleeves removed to become a workout shirt and then also buy Prada shirts for work and have them tailored to my exact fitting. I can tell you that I've been to all the tailors in Kirkland and a couple in Bellevue that were recommended by Nordstrom and Lake Street Tailor (Kelli) is the BEST of them all. Prior to going to Kelli I had others try to do the t-shirt thing or shorten or slim my Prada shirts and all others never really got it right. I don't write reviews often and I actually have recently moved from Kirkland, but if you need a good tailor Kelli is the one!!! There are a few times that Kelli gets busy and may not have it on time, but that's only once in a while due to a last minute dress hemming or something that others needed. Finally, Kelli is so good that I would buy clothes online knowing that I could get them fixed at Lake Street for a reasonable price with quality work. Go nowhere else but Lake Street for your tailoring needs! Now I hope to find a tailor as good and as reasonably priced as Lake Street Tailors in Del Mar, CA. read more

The proprietress is sweet and I love the atmosphere of the shop, but can't give quite the same rave reviews I see here. I took a dress and jacket to be taken in, a second dress to have a small tear repaired, a skirt and pair of slacks for hemming, and a pair of my husband's slacks to have suspender buttons added. Kelly asked when I needed the items done and I said there wasn't any rush, could she call me when they were done? She agreed to do so. After a month, I called to follow up. She said the items had been ready for two weeks, but I'd never gotten (or missed) a call. Not a big deal, I wasn't in any rush, but still a little off-putting. It was 4:30 on a Saturday, and my husband was in Kirkland with the car, so I sent him to pick up the clothes. Kelly took in the shoulders of the dress and it fits better, but is still too big. The jacket fits well and the work is well-done. But on my third wear, the hem of one of the pant legs just fell out! I think these problems are probably not typical, and I'll update the review if I Kelly is able to fix these issues when I take the clothes back in. read more

Once again Kelly out did herself. I came in only a couple days before my event with little hope she would be able to fix my dress but she was both accommodating and innovative. Together, we were able to brainstorm how we might make the bust line less showy. Unfortunately, the bust was at least a size too small so it looked as though I had a bad boob job; big round boobs to my collarbone! As you see, Kelly added red lace she had saved from a previous customer and she added it to the sweetheart portion. Amazingly, the structure or feel of the dress stayed the same but the lace not provided me more coverage and tricked the eye to how much was showing, but it really took the dress to a whole new level of gorgeous. She is life saver! My friend's wedding is in July and i'm one of her bridesmaid. All the bridesmaid decided to get this dress online and they didn't have my size so I went one size smaller. Yes, quite dumb of me but I was confident I would fit in after some work out time. Well, work has kept me so busy that I neither had time for work out nor alteration at early stage. So about 10 weeks before wedding day, i tried the dress on and it did not fit at all. I started to freak out and took it to my friend's alteration service but that seamstress was too damn lazy and refused to do it. I yelped around and found Lake Street Tailor since I live really close to Kirkland now. I brought my dress in and she did some checking and taking measurements. We discussed what can be done. She said she could take it in and did some adjustments and asked that I came back in less than 2 weeks. Sound good to me. I'll be straight: it is expensive and the alternation fee cost WAY more than the dress, but I needed it and she delivered, perfectly. I came back for the second fittings and to my surprise, it fitted so well and I actually looked ok in it. I also did some work-out myself too so that was helpful. I was satisfied and I got what I came for. I am truly grateful and do highly recommend. She is a pleasant lady to work with! read more

Amazing. Kelly is the best. I took a pair of pants in to be hemmed urgently Saturday afternoon technically after she was already closed, and she had them finished in 1 1//2 hours for less than $20. I needed the pants for an event the next day and she came through. Other tailors in the area were telling me they needed at least 3-4 days, maybe a week. Kelly is now the only person I'll go to. I will admit, the service was a little weird, but I don't have to get things altered very often. I had to provide my measurements over the phone to the place my bridesmaid dress was being ordered from so it could be shipped to me. Now I know bridesmaids dresses tend to have weird measurements, but the lady told me I should order a size 8. I was absolutely appalled. I talked her down to a size 6. When that came in, I was swimming in it. I took it to Lake Street Tailer after being recommended by Bakker's dry cleaning up in Juanita Bay. I put the dress on, she pulled it in to see what would fit, marked it with chalk, and I took the dress off. The total adjustments were about 2.5 inches on each side of the zipper. That's huge. They were super accommodating and very nice. They had the dress done within a week. When I went to pick it up, she just handed it to me. I kind of thought you were supposed to try it on to make sure it was right before you left the store. But, whatever. I got home, and the dress fit perfectly. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I was so worried things were going to go wrong, and after that, I felt so much more relaxed about the wedding. Price was exactly what I expected (or at least hoped). Kelly at Lake Street is the absolute best! I brought my wedding dress to her about 10 weeks before my wedding and the top of it was a mess. It turns out that the entire top of the dress needed to be gutted and redone. Needless to say, I was nervous! Leaving my wedding dress in the hands of a stranger to be taken apart and put back together is incredibly scary! I just had my final fitting today and I am absolutely blown away! Needed a place nearby my work that could shorten the sleeves of a button up I bought for my sisters wedding, Kelly did a great job. While doing the fitting, she also noticed that it wasn't just my shirt that needed work, my suit jacket sleeves also turned out to be about an inch short and she lengthened them for me. Her customer service is top notch, not only was it a quick turn around time for the work being done, but she also recommended and offered to take my suit to the dry cleaners for me so i could pick it up there. I took two pairs of jeans in to be hemmed, and the price per pair of pants was right where I expected it at about $20 after tax. The quality was exactly what you'd expect from a pair of hemmed jeans, and to that extent I'm satisfied. Where this business shines is in their customer service. The Saturday hours are 10-2, but the lady took care of me at 2:30 and said she's often in until 3, which I appreciated since Saturdays are really the only time when I'm able to run these types of errands. They also have a loyalty program where you hem 10 items and get the next one free (or maybe it's 9 items, I don't quite recall). This isn't a big draw for me since it will take me a very long time before I reach that amount of hems, but folks who shop regularly at the Rack will probably appreciate it more. Overall, I highly recommend this tailor and don't intend to take my business anywhere else as long as I live in Kirkland. read more

My sister was getting married in June. My Mom and my (MOH) dress were both too long and needed to be hemmed. We took them in a couple months ahead of time and were measured at the store. She look her time pinning them and asked us when the wedding was and told us when they would be ready. The price was fair for the work (a fancy dress is harder than a pair of pants). Kelly has used her skills to alter three dresses for me over the last year with the most recent alteration being for my wedding dress, which I picked up from her store earlier today. For the two dresses I had her alter previously, she took in the waist/bust areas and trimmed the tails of each dress to suit my height. The wedding dress was quite complicated to alter in that it has a ton of floral appliques and lace details decorating the silk satin top layer of the dress along with three other layers underneath. The wedding dress is also asymmetrical by design, and I was worried about how the bustle would turn out being that the train is also asymmetrical. I had no reason to worry, because Kelly did an excellent job with the dress as a whole and especially with the bustle. I'm so happy with every alteration she's done for me; I can't imagine going anywhere else for my alteration needs. read more
