I had my wedding dress altered here and it turned out amazing. Now that I'm married and we have pictures back I can share the fantastic work!

I've only had good experiences at Lani's, and I highly recommend this shop. I first used Lani's a few years ago to hem some jeans, and the work was great. I didn't have any reason to go back to Lani's until recently, when I needed to get a wedding/elopement dress altered. I bought a dress online, and it fit alright for off-the-rack, but was very loose in the chest and too long, so I made an appointment online at Lani's and took the dress in. At the shop, Dora was very warm, friendly, and helpful. She really put me at ease. She knew immediately what needed to be altered and how; she knew exactly what cups I would need for a built-in bra and where the bodice could be taken in. She also has an incredible eye for details. For example, I didn't really notice the extra fabric around my hips, but when she pinned it off to show me what the alteration would look like, she made my silhouette look very sleek, elegant, and balanced. Dora broke the pricing down for me and let me pick which alterations I wanted (I chose all of them because she showed me exactly what each alteration would look like). She warned me wedding dresses could take up to 3 months, depending on complexity, but she got my dress back to me in exactly 3 weeks to the day. The dress looks amazing, and I'm so happy with it. It fits like a glove and better than what I even thought possible. The quality of Lani's work is second to none, and she gets it right the first time. I highly recommend this shop, and I'll be a repeat customer.

I have been a loyal customer of Lani's Tailor and Atelier since 2022 when they altered my dress for high school senior photos, and this year they perfectly altered my equestrian shadbelly. Both garments were transformed beautifully with impeccable attention to detail. What really sets the shop apart is their incredible customer service; the staff is knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely cares about getting every detail right. They take the time to understand exactly what you're looking for and deliver exactly when promised. Whether you need alterations for a special occasion or specialized equestrian wear, I cannot recommend Lani's Tailor and Atelier highly enough.

I can't even begin to describe how incredible this place is! From the moment I walked in I felt so welcomed and cared for by Dora. I picked up my wedding dress and it blew my expectations away!!! It could not be more perfect and the quality of the work is amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I had the pleasure of working with Lani's on my wedding dress and I'm so glad I did! Dora helped me with the fittings and was so kind, detailed and honest about the alterations I would need. She had such expert advice about my dress and how it should fit, and helped me focus on what elements could be prioritized. Even though I thought I was ahead of schedule bringing my dress in early for my fitting, I ended up losing weight and needed last minute alterations just weeks before the big day. Dora talked me off the edge and made sure I was ready to go last minute! I felt very confident in the work that was done on my dress and was thrilled with the end result. Wedding planning is hard enough, I'm so glad I went with Lani's!

The shirt looks great even without the jacket! Perfect fit for my custom bolo tie

I've spent most of my life in t-shirts and jeans, but on the rare occasion I need to look my best, Lani's is there to make it happen! Over the years they've helped me make several cheap ASOS specials look like they were designed just for me, but last year I decided to try something a bit more unique for my best friends gothic themed wedding. I put together an outfit with a dark western theme that included a patterned kei suit jacket, basic black slacks and a heavily textured undershirt. I already knew what to expect with the slacks and jacket, but that undershirt was a very unique shape to start with, think SUPER puffy with tight, tall cuffs... not flattering, haha! I was starting to regret my choices before the fitting, but Dora knew exactly what I was trying to accomplish and I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out! Now I have a fairly modular look that I can use for upscale events and still feel like myself. Thanks to Dora and the team at Lani's for helping me pull it off!

I only have positive things to say about my experience with Lani's! I stopped by in mid-June and I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable once I walked in. I requested a month turnaround time and they were able to accommodate me. (Even though they prefer much more notice, They made it happen!) I had 2 dresses that were hemmed to perfection! Inserts were sewn into the Ceremony dress and I'm soooo glad I went with their recommendation. The reception dress now looks like it's doubled in value, the tailoring is amazing and kisses the floor perfectly. You may be able to find another shop with lower rates, but you get what you pay for. The service and craftsmanship at Lani's it's hard to beat and was worth what I paid for. My friends and family have not stopped raving about how beautiful the dresses were!

I scheduled an appointment online and brought in three pieces: a Yohji Yamamoto cotton button-up, a slub cotton tee, and a polyester concert jersey. Dora was welcoming and helpful, walking me through exactly how I wanted each piece hemmed. She was transparent about their luxury pricing upfront, explaining that most customers bring in dresses rather than everyday items. The three basic crop hems cost around $100 plus tax (roughly $30-35 per piece) with an estimated 1-week turnaround per item. Pleasant surprise: they finished almost two weeks early without any notice needed. On my second visit, I called for a drop-in appointment to alter my Acne Studios Baggy Jeans. They usually only take appointments online, but she was nice enough to let me come by since I only had 1 item to bring in. Dora clearly explained their approach for waist alterations--taking in the center back seam rather than using darts, which maintains better construction quality. I originally wanted both waist and inseam alterations, but decided against shortening the inseam since it would remove the original hem. The waist alteration alone was $285, plus an additional $90 to restitch the leather back pockets due to the mixed materials. Total came to around $430 with tax. Dora was completely upfront about pricing and even suggested I might want to return the jeans for a different size instead. Since I got them on sale, that wasn't an option, but I appreciated her honesty. Two of the three pieces from my first visit show exceptional craftsmanship. The stitching on the Yohji Yamamoto shirt and slub cotton tee looks factory-perfect--comparable to high-end cut-and-sew shops in LA. The polyester jersey had slightly uneven cutting (understandable given how that fabric behaves) and one small threading issue on the inner hem that's not visible when worn. At these prices, I expect perfection even on difficult materials, but it's a minor flaw. Picture of it provided below. For basic alterations, your local dry cleaner will suffice. But if you have luxury or archive pieces that need expert care, Lani's delivers quality that justifies the premium pricing. I'm currently waiting on my jeans and already planning to bring more pieces.

Brought in a $5K Kiton cashmere, they said it wasn't worth fixing. Guess we both misjudged each other. 1 star

Meeting her in person only confirmed it. She listened carefully to every single one of my needs and accommodated each one with such grace and care. My wedding dress is chiffon, and she created the most gorgeous custom bustle in the back that made it look beautifully layered and flowing. Beyond her extraordinary skill, she made me feel beautiful. She complimented me, lifted my spirits, and even took the time to teach me how to walk without tripping on my train. That kind of thoughtfulness goes so far beyond what any seamstress is required to do. After I picked up my perfectly hemmed, bustled, and altered dress, I had a small panic moment (actually, a major panic moment) when I realized the style looked slightly different than I remembered from when I originally ordered it from Anthropologie. I called Svetlana in a near meltdown, and without hesitation, she invited me to come in that very same day. Within 20 minutes, she had fixed everything flawlessly!! I was in disbelief!! Svetlana is a true miracle worker, and anyone who gets to work with her is incredibly, incredibly lucky. I will be forever grateful that she was a part of my wedding journey!!! I love you, Svetlana!!!!

Her advice saved me money and helped ensure my dress looks best for the big day, and I'm so grateful! I recommend coming to her if you need guidance on alterations needs! I will bring other clothes back to her bc she has my total trust now!
