Yet, Jake had just the right balance of letting you do enough on your own to feel like you'd actually blown glass with taking over to ensure your creation was beautiful. He offered clear direction and, also, a clear opinion when asked. The best part was waiting for our beautiful ornaments/orbs to cool. We could hardly wait to go back to pick them up! I'm a huge Chihuly fan, so stumbling on this art glass shop was such a fun surprise! The instructor (totally missed his name) kicked things off with a live demo on how to make a light shade. He walked us through each step, answered everyone's questions, and made it super engaging. Watching the final piece come to life in those gorgeous colors was the highlight for me. They also offer classes for kids and adults, which looked really cool--I didn't sign up this time since I've done similar classes before, but it's definitely worth checking out! read more

On a weekend getaway to Duluth I decided to treat me and my wife to making some art at lake Superior art glass. It was an amazing experience we got to learn how to make various pieces of glass how to color them and got to actually do it in person with our own hands. There's a lot of safety involved being that the glass is at 2100 degrees when it's in the furnace. We were very comfortable with our instructor and had a great time making our first piece of art class I'm sure we will make many more in the future. read more

This place is so cool. If in Duluth, you need to take a class for a really great experience. We made icicles and in an hour and a half we got to make 5-7 icicles. It was all hands on. The instructors were funny, patient and very engaging. We made both war and colored icicles. Truly a treasure to take home. They have other classes and really incredible pieces of art. Sad my glass came out a bit crooked :( it would have been really helpful if they straightened it out in the process of adding the goblet and stand part. I think the shape made it a little wobbly and so my glass ended up toppling over and shattering. Really sad that it did not even make it one day :( read more

My husband and I were in Duluth for the weekend, I saw a brochure at the hotel. So we stopped in and signed up for a class that day! Andrew was our instructor he was awesome! He was knowledgeable and personable. He made me comfortable since this was a completely new experience. He had to change the propane in the middle of our time but was quick and made up for time. He also took pictures of us with my phone which I loved. We did the pendants, my husband made 4 and I made 3. We picked them up the next day. All of the staff were friendly. We were staying in Duluth in August for our anniversary and found Lake Superior Art Glass while wandering the Canal Park area. After talking with the staff, we made reservations to make paperweights. We had such a good time then that when we came back for Thanksgiving weekend we made reservations again, this time making the stems for wine glasses. So much fun. Dan, our "guide" for this adventure was extremely patient, knowledgeable, pleasant, and fun to talk with. After we finished our part we were able to partake of some wine (or non-alcoholic cider) while we watched him put the wine glass all together for us. We celebrated our anniversary today with one of the Lake Superior Art Glass classes for two. We had the choice of learning how to make either a wine goblet stem, pendant, or icicle. We choose the icicle ornaments. This was SUCH A COOL EXPERIENCE!!!! Definitely worth the money. We had such a great time. I was a little nervous when we were getting started, but Sammy was a great instructor and I quickly felt at ease. Watching a stick of glass transform into an icicle via heat and technique was mesmerizing. The two hours flew by. If you choose the icicles, you get to make as many as possible in the allotted time. We made about 7 or 8 each. I'm so excited to put these on my tree at Christmas!! This is a great idea for a unique experience or great date in Duluth. We will definitely be going back for the marble making adventure. Love it!! read more

Wow! If you are looking for a great experience and something different to do, this is a wonderful creative experience. We did this as a last minute, not sure if we would have the time on our north shore mini-vacation. We had Sammy and Ryan at Lake Superior Art Glass as Instructors. They were fun and easy to talk with and In my world, that makes all the difference. We were nervous going in, but they made it easy to do and easy for us to learn. Instructions were specific and it made playing with glass and fire fun. These people share their love of what they do and in the end you feel like you can do this again, and again....which we will. I did the icicles class and my husband did the ornament class. I ended up with 6 or 8 icicles and my husband made 4 ornaments! We were so impressed. Checking in and paying was easy. We had to register separately for the classes and you choose to either take it with you or ship it. Since we needed to ship they made sure that our orders were packaged together! They are amazing!! We suggested a cheaper family option which they are working on. We consider this a Must Du-Duluth expérience! We will be bringing friends and family back for this experience!!
