He loved every teacher and rarely had homework due to the flex period they have built into the schedule. They both ran/run cross country and track as well. The track coaches are nice and encouraging and the cross country coach cares about the kids. Both programs are very flexible with kids and their academics. Our experience at WWHS has wonderful! The teachers and staff all care immensely about the students and there is a huge of variety of classes for students to explore. My kids aren't top in their class but they make mostly A's and some B's. For me, I know they will be well prepared for college and have a good foundation of what they want to pursue for a career. Lastly, WWHS is diverse and my kids have been able to find friends easily. My youngest is very shy and quiet, but he was able to find a group of kids to hang with for lunch. There's great variety not just with classes but with the students as well. We didn't experience any bullying or judgment from kids.

After I had specifically told her I would speak with both the teacher and my son's pediatrician, she removed my son from class and told him directly that he needed to see a doctor for his behavior. When I picked him up, he was crying and asking, "What's wrong with me, Mom?" No child should be put in that position, and that conversation should never have been had with him -- that was my responsibility as his parent. This was not an isolated incident. I had emails to teachers go unanswered, and overall the partnership we expected from a private school simply was not there. Since leaving, I've learned that other families have had similar experiences, where the principal seemed to push an ADHD diagnosis despite disagreement from teachers and parents. In our case, both my son's third- and fourth-grade teachers at HCCS and his pediatrician did not believe he had ADHD. When my son transferred mid-year into public school, the difference was night and day. His new teacher said he was incredibly bright, just likely bored, and he immediately began thriving. He made straight A's, came home happy, and was excited to return to school each day. The contrast showed me that the problem was not with my son but with the way he was being handled at HCCS. We expected much better from a private institution, but sadly, our experience was one of disappointment, lack of communication, and a principal who placed her opinion above parents, teachers, and even doctors.

Then I gave myself a break and took on the C210k app for another 5 weeks. This track was a great place for me to get into running in a safe neighborhood. I discovered this place because I was in a boot camp a couple summers ago that worked out in the parking lot. I would even skip the days we had to run a mile so it's a wonder I've come so far to run 60 minutes straight. I've ran here as late as 9pm on a Saturday and felt safe. Granted I was carrying mace because a girl can never be too prepared. lol but seriously it's a great track and a lot of people come here to walk, spend time with their families and exercise. I still binge watch tv on the weekends, just after I finish a 3 mile or so run.

Academically, test scores are usually pretty high. The teaching staff was competent, for the most part, and a select few teachers were very influential. All the classes are up to speed in terms of technology and material. Of course, that was before the Texas Board of "Education" voted in the new curriculum. *facepalm* Athletics have always been strong at CPHS. I ran on the cross-country team and we usually placed highly. Timberwolf football is also very good, due to the fact that here in Central Texas they take their football *very* seriously. The marching band's won the State Championship twice now. Aside from the usual high school sports, there is also a lacrosse team, though I think they're more of an unofficial club, at least they were. As far as extracurricular activities, there's plenty of clubs and groups to be a part of. I participated on the Debate team and the school newspaper, The Wolfpack, and both usually received quite a bit of acclaim. There's also the Wolfcast, which shows local news and features, Junior Statesmen of America, the Junior Engineering and Technology Society, DECA (and their infamous trip), Philosophy Club, Invisible Children Club, Film Club and a whole bunch of others. CPHS could be a lot more diverse, but then again it's the suburbs, so that's kind of to be expected. That's not a detraction, by the way, just a note. At any rate everyone got along just fine. There's a strong Advanced Placement program here, although if you want International Baccalaureate you have to get bussed over to one of the other schools. Pretty good as far as high schools go. I don't recall any serious problems while I was here.

Reed Elementary is a truly special school…read more We discovered the school because of the Gómez & Gómez Dual Language program and the more we learned about Reed the more we liked it. The campus is well-maintained and beautiful (with a yard full of bluebonnets!) The student population is wonderfully diverse. The talented and caring staff and leadership are the best anyone could hope for. We moved and built a new home specifically to be in the zone for Reed. Our daughter's kindergarten experience was absolutely awesome, and the teachers made an incredibly good first impression on our entire family. We were all amazed by how quickly the kids picked up a second language and were able to jump right into conversation with others at the playground. We had unexpectedly opened up our daughter to a new world of cultural experiences, and more importantly, great friends. This early experience set the stage for many good things to follow. The other subjects are taught just as effectively as Language Arts. Math and Science are delivered in an interesting and fast-paced way that really clicks with our kid and others in her classes. "Specials" are a big highlight. The selection of books in the library, both English and Spanish, is great! The musical and dance opportunities in Performing Arts are amazing, from concerts throughout the school year to unique events like a special performance at the State Capital. The fundamentals that the kids are taught in Visual Arts provide an excellent foundation for future growth in drawing, painting, and understanding of color. The art projects our daughter brings home, and more importantly, creates completely on her own while AT home using her new and improving skills, are wildly impressive. Physical Education is also a favorite, with exposure to activities and sports that would have blown me away as a kid. And Running Club!! Everyone LOVES Running Club! After struggling with reading, our daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. The school provides special accommodations for these challenges. The amazing 504 team has been able to keep her learning along with her classmates and actually enjoying reading and writing, something that never happened for me as a kid. Our child's education is our top priority, and time and time again, we are convinced that we made the right choice with Reed Elementary.
