Little Munchkins Learning Center is more than a 'daycare' it is a place for your little ones to learn, have fun, and be properly cared for! Our child was in their care from 2019 until 2022 and we were very pleased with the overall experience. Their billing, scheduling, front office staff, and teachers all provide a effective environment for families to feel taken care of. During the pandemic they provided a vital service for many parents and were able to keep their employees and children enrolled stay safe and healthy! Our child loved every class they were in, and the teachers were always very personable but professional with us and (from what we saw) the children! Ed and his daughter Crystal run a family operation in every sense of the word. It has been, for more than 30 years, their family business. As important, the staff is its own tight and caring family. And then, of course, they make every child and parent (and grandparent, like me) feel like family, too. An example of quality control: yesterday, I spied two wooden puzzles on a table in a Pre-K classroom, and each had all its pieces. That, to me, is a sign that classroom materials are valued at the same time children are encouraged to play, touch and interact. There are not only an ample array of toys and supplies, but everything is marked, organized, and clean. Ed greets families coming and going, and his big broad smile is so inviting and kind. My daughter is currently at little munchkins. It is almost time for her to leave and start elementary school. We absolutely loved our time at little munchkins! As soon as we put her in this school she made significant strides socially and academically. The teachers and staff treat us like family and our kids are all very close. Pulled our son out after a few months. He was sick all of the time after attending and they don't have a good policy for sick days off. You pay a lot of money for 3 days of day care and if your child gets sick hard luck. One time I arrived early to pick up our son and he wasn't in the classroom, he was in the the male directors office just the two of them. Extremely awkward and unprofessional and if he was acting up they should have called me and not removed him from the classroom. The teachers were great but the constant sickness and finding my son outside of the classroom was unacceptable. We will not be returning to Little munchkins. Our son was in the back office alone with a male no where near the front door. Our son also has had a fear of belts since leaving this daycare... I work from home and this isn't about our child being sick. It's the fact that he was never healthy after attending this germ infested daycare. Do yourself a favor and keep your child out of this crap hole. read more

I would like to say Little Munchkins is a phenomenal daycare. My son had to leave another daycare because of an incident and I needed to place him in a daycare asap. I came to Little Munchkins and they have accepted my son with open arms. He loves it here. They noticed that he was advanced and moved him up to another classroom. My son is learning to write his name and he learns new things all of the time. My youngest son loves it as well and for him to be at such a young age and love being somewhere that speaks volume to me. Little Munchkins has been a godsend for our family! We had our kids enrolled in Children's courtyard which was an absolute disaster and were able to switch them here thanks to Crystal. This daycare has a loving, family-owned vibe and the turnover seems very low (if any at all). The teachers seem so happy to be around the kids and plan so many fun activities for them, no matter how young the kids are. Our two sons are always smiling when we drop off and pick up. The communication is great and clear. The price for what you get is unheard of. We will be moving twenty minutes away but are keeping our boys here until they age out because we feel it is the best gift we could give them. I will also mention I was initially hesitant to put my kids here because I am jewish (husband is episcopal) and LMLC is christian however I have always felt welcomed and the Christianity aspect is more of a loving mindset than anything else. I generally write great reviews when service is spectacular, and I have to admit -- Little Munchkins is stellar! My daughter has been attending since June, before she turned 2. It's now September and she knows her numbers (in both English and Spanish), her colors, and can speak SO much more than she could just 5 months ago. We've had good and bad childcare, but these guys are amazing! I've been blessed to have my daughter in here (thanks to my wife) and I'd be glad to have another child in here, assuming we'd have another child. This place is one in a million. The teachers, staff, and admin are all incredible at what they do. Our daughter loved her teachers and would talk about them at home. They send pictures every day, and they prepare such fun activities and projects for the kids. It really feels like a little family. You can't beat this place! Thus far I have been 100% happy with this daycare. I believe the staff at Little Munchkins are competent, caring individuals and genuinely love the children. The staff turnover seems very low too, if at all.The playgrounds are wonderful and it is a very family oriented community. This daycare has been in the business for thirty years so they must be doing something right. It is managed by really great people who truly care. Overall I am very happy with Little Munchkins Learning Center. They are organized and my daughter does seem genuinely happy. They have themes planned out every month and I applaud them for how thorough and detail oriented they are. It's challenging taking care of wee ones, but all the teachers exude patience, enthusiasm and genuine concern for the children. I cannot say enough about Little Munchkins. I enrolled my son after being home with him for 10 months. I was shocked at how quickly he adjusted, and in no time he fell in love with the school and his teachers. He has grown in so many ways thanks to the love and kindness of the staff. His teachers are AMAZING. Ms. Rosa and Ms. Lisel are there every morning to greet us with smiles, updates, and a lovely breakfast, and Ms. Rosanna is there when I come to pick him up. She is literally ALWAYS singing and laughing with the babies. Ed and Brenda are two of the most compassionate and caring business owners I have ever met. They worked with us, and made us feel like part of the family from day 1. I wish I could give them 10 stars. I couldn't agree more with the other posts. This place is amazing, but I can't believe that the government would allow our children to eat honey buns or danishes as part of the healthy breakfast program. I wish they had another food service that would offer some parents the option of getting some organic foods, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables!! My son absolutely loves it here. We had just moved to Austin from TN last May. As a seventh year teacher, I have very high expectations for daycares and I won't accept any less. I am also one of those annoying parents that is constantly on top of my kid and want to know everything about her day and what she is doing. I visited almost every daycare/preschool in North Central Austin because I wasn't moving until I had a daycare picked out. Little Munchkins was my first stop and then after visiting the others, I came running right back. This school is AMAZING!! On my initial visit, they answered my questions, gave me a tour, and interacted with my daughter (2 at the time). Then the first week she cried every morning and became very attached to her teacher who spent her mornings in the 1 yr old room. So for the second week, when I dropped her off and she cried they would let her go sit with her teacher in the one year old room until she felt better. They would also call me and let me know that she was better. They have cameras, security codes, and the office is "open door" or else someone is at the front desk to greet you so no one gets by without being noticed. I am always greeted with a smile and small conversation. Fast forward to now, she is in Ms. Cecilia's 3 yr old room and I couldn't be happier. In her room she is doing centers, science experiments, singing, reading, and role playing. She can come home and tell me exactly what book she is reading and what science she is working on. This week, they planted a bean and are learning about how it grows. That is an experiment I did with my second graders!! They have several holiday parties in which they take lots of pictures so even though I'm at work, I still get to "enjoy it with her". They had an Easter Egg hunt, a Santa visit, and they even had a Christmas room completely decorated with a fireplace, mountain pictures on the wall, and the complete light up Christmas village. They offer Dance, Spanish, Soccer, and several other activities (at an extra cost) so that you never have to get up to take your kid to extracurricular activities on Saturday morning again!! They also hold school pictures twice a year so that you can order nice pictures of your kids. I believe at 4 they begin taking field trips. The cost of this school for a 3 yr old is between 700-800 which is less than most other places and the quality is worth double that. The school is warm and inviting with the smell of fresh biscuits most mornings. Always decorated with pictures and works of arts from the kids and a shaded playground. They also have a facebook page to keep you updated and send home monthly menus and school calendars. They follow AISD calendar for holidays and breakfast, lunch, and snack are included! read more

I had my daughter in here after 2 horrible experiences with in home daycares. I feel comfortable knowing that she is in good hands here and that someone is actually properly caring for her. She tells me about her days and she gets super excited to go back the next day. HIGHLY recommend. read more

Just another update, now that my child is over two years old. My observations: 1. The older my child gets (specifically since they were about 18 months), the more impressed I get with Little Munchkins. The teachers are caring and it's great to see how much my child has learned! 2. Looking back, I realize that even though the care provided to my child when they were 3 months - 18 months was good, and the center was meeting all standards for caregiver:child ratios, there still are A LOT of children. This means that if you are looking for a program where your infant is getting TONS of attention, you may want to look at a smaller center. This is not a detraction from Little Munchkins so much as a heads up about parental preference. 3. The turnover of staff seems very low and I heard that individuals prefer working at Little Munchkins versus some other centers. This ultimately works in favor for a child in care. 4. As mentioned previously, the center in general is large, but it is locally owned, and the management is almost always visible and accessible for questions. 5. I still have an issue with the food. They recently switched directors, so I really wish they would use it as an opportunity to review their menu and develop some new ideas for more nutritious meals that the children will eat still and stay within the center's budget. I bet they could do it! Overall, I still give the center four stars. read more

Little Munchkins is absolutely wonderful...it doesn't get any better than this when it comes to childcare. When I bring my daughter here each morning, it feels like I am leaving her with family. Little Munchkin is a great center! We just moved to Austin last month and I was so concerned about my son. He has a hard time transitioning to a new environment. I first put him in Bright Horizon, because they looked good to me and they are expensive. I'd be happy to pay more if a center can help my son to make this transition easier. But it didn't work out. I was wrong. It's not always true that the more expensive the better:) Then I switched him here three weeks ago, which is half way cheaper. It turned out the teachers here are so nice, passionate and patient with their kids. They have plenty of activities every day to keep kids busy, learning and having fun. Many thanks to my son's teacher Miss Sara, Miss Alma, Miss Cecilia, and Miss Patienz. They are doing a great work to taking care of and educating our kid. I know my son so I know how hard it is. They are even better than me. Their director is a super nice gentleman. He seems to know every kid in the center. Anyway, I strongly recommend this center. I love this place. The staff and owners took care of my daughter after school and during the summers from the time she was in Kinder till we moved her when she was going to 5th. I wish we could have brought them with us to Gtown. Best daycare and after school care! And my daughters math was already done when she got home so a bonus for me. We have been a part of the Little Munchkins family for over 4 years. We found them when we were suddenly sent frantically looking for childcare due to our current daycare closing. They welcomed us with open arms and did everything they could to make us comfortable with this change. Since then, things have not changed. My boys have had excellent care and have learned so much. The biggest advantage is a strong Christian based foundation that my oldest has carried with him into the public school system. I am sad to say this is our last year with LMLC as our youngest will be starting kindergarten, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this center to anyone. My husband, myself and my 15 month old love Little Munchkins! Mr George, Ed, and Mrs Brenda always take care of anything that we might need or questions I (because I am the crazy mom) might have. I would recommend this daycare to anyone! My son loved the infant class with Miss Jada and Miss Rosie, very hard for him to leave them, and has moved up to the next class. It took him a while to get used to the new teachers but Brenda made sure to help him and us adjust! She actual went above and beyond with this particular situation, if you ask me. It took my husband and myself a little while to adjust to the new teachers and their style but, Miss Crystal and Miss Megan love our son and it helps they seem to love their job. When our son is out for a few days, Mr George or Mr Ed call just to make sure everything is okay. This makes me feel like we are not just another dollar in their pocket but part of a small family. We visited many daycares in the area and this is the only one that truly felt like a daycare and not like a hospital. The rooms are spacious, colorful and have a lot of toys for the children to play with, very reasonably priced. We tried to find one closer to our home (620) and it is so hard to leave Little Munchkins, especially now that our son has adjusted to the new class. read more

Little Munchkins has been a great daycare fit for us. We switched from a smaller, church-run daycare prior to starting here and the difference in quality was obvious immediately. Our previous daycare didn't have a security system and hardly ever had us fill out paperwork. I appreciate that LM has a locked front door with a security code and they are up to date with the required paperwork, which makes me feel like they are up on everything else. The teachers are respectful and kind and the director/owner is very accessible. Their pricing is more reasonable than other places around but we don't sacrifice on care for our son at all. read more

I can't believe I've never thought to leave a Yelp review for Little Munchkins. Both of our kids have been there since they were infants (2009 and 2012) and it's just the best. They treat us like family. It may not be the fanciest building in town, but what matters is the love and dedication the teachers show to our kids. Our oldest is now at NYOS Charter School and LMLC is one of the few centers who pick up there. I was so glad and blessed that I came across Little Munchkins I was in a crunch time on finding a care center for my kids. But I didn't want to just put them into any daycare since I've already had several bad experiences so I was worried and but gave them a chance. Little Munchkins is completely different in a very good way my my older kids and my 5 yr old loved going there and had lots of fun. The other daycare place I would have to make them go in or sneak out. At munchkins my 5yr old is always happy and excited and ready to go to school and see his teacher and friends which was a huge plus for me. The owners and staff there are Amazing, Caring and Loving. The time he's been there about 2yrs I alway see the same teachers there so they get to bond and learn from one another and see a familiar face. We were sad that we had to go and will definitely miss it there because he did learned a lot from everyone there and have lots of good memory there.
