Many of the horses are rescues, and the owner has done a lovely job training them to be wonderful, mild-mannered trail ride horses. There was a 6-year-old child in our group who never once held onto the reins, and she never had a problem because the lead wrangler was leading her horse with a rope. There are wranglers at the front and back of the group as you travel single file down the road with cars driving by periodically. Our wranglers frequently yelled directions (that nobody in the middle of the group could hear), and that aspect really annoyed my daughter. It was not a peaceful ride. I have been to the Waterloo location and was expecting a walk through a beautiful wooded area like it is there, so our route was a disappointment to me as was the slow pace. The web site mentioned both walking and trotting. We were at a slow walk for the entire ride. Since my daughter and I both ride frequently, this was not at all what we were looking for. That being said, this would be perfect for people who have never ridden or for families with small children.

Additionally, on what was supposed to be a relaxing horse ride, she screamed at the cars driving past us multiple times. We were on a secluded dirt road, people were already halfway off the other side of the road driving probably 25mph, there was no need for her irrational reaction. Overall, horrible experience. I am a picky eater and i ate almost all of the food! I like how they let you tell out your pronouns to everyone - But there are some young kids. But every single time I go here, I meet the most AMAZING people. I don't really have anything I think they would need to improve, They have everything perfectly under control. But then people are talking about bullying and racism..... I can assure you NOBODY here is doing that! Everyone following the girl scout law. I highly recommend this camp.

First off let me inform you, that this is not a five star hotel. This is camp. You don't get a shower every day, you are going to have bug bites and you are going to be sweaty. There might be food you have never tried or do not like. But that is OK. There's always extra food at the salad bar, or extra cereal and milk, or whatever. Most of the time if you eat enough at meals, you are not hungry. I was looking at the other reviews, and people were complaining about food, counselors, and... racism? I'm sorry, but camp linden is the most excepting place I've ever been to. As for the counselors, all of the staff I have encountered have been kind, respectful, and caring, living up to the Girl Scout law. If don't want to camp, maybe check into the Hilton next summer instead? I have had a wonderful time at this camp and I look forward to coming back next summer.

After a couple of hours of fun in the sun and with the animals, we all sat at one of the picnic tables and brought some snacks and cupcakes. In the middle of singing happy birthday to my 3 YO niece, this lady walks up to us and starts yelling at us and telling us we have to leave and that we can't have "a birthday party". The toddler starts crying. We are never coming back here again, none of us knew we can't sing happy birthday at a petting zoo, none of us knew we can't use a picnic table, there were no signs saying that. Even if she needed to tell us (paying customers) to leave, she could've talked to one of the adults instead of interrupting a child's happy birthday song and making her cry. We live 10 minutes away and we would've come back here if it wasn't for this rude woman. Apparently this is the owner, and she was being rude to her staff throughout the day as well. All of the other staff we came across were friendly and none of them told us we couldn't use a picnic table to sing happy birthday for the child. I still can't believe how rude this woman was to her customers and staff.

I did a walk up this particular day and all was fine. The staff and the ladies that checked me in were very friendly and helpful. They have various tours you can do. I paid by the hour, it was $20 for two hours which is not too shabby. I was also given an additional twenty minutes for free. They take both cash/card. Be sure to bring water as there is none available on site. Although I believe there are a few water fountains at Lansing Marketplace just adjacent to where the landing is. You sign a waiver, get your life vest, and head down to the water. You jump in your kayak, staff pushes you into the grand river, and you're off. You can opt to paddle upstream which is a great workout or you can float your way downstream whichever you prefer. Overall, cool little place to come and partake in outdoor activities. The grand river water is murky, and not the cleanest looking. However, do not let that deter you from having a good time.

I've heard so much of all the work Dan has put into this place over the years and he truly makes Woldumar shine bright for all those who come and visit, whether for an afternoon or for a summer-long program! I imagine this place overrun with kids and adults alike when the weather is great and can only imagine how much fun it would be to experience this place in the summertime.
