I have left A message for the nurse in the past and never got a return call. I still can't walk when I first stand up. My wife just contacted them again, because my being nice is gone now.. The first thing that was noticeable when I came into the office is how clean and orderly it is. There are two waiting rooms with plenty of seating. Bottles of hand sanitizer are located in several places. I was greeted by his very nice office assistant, who quickly and efficiently attended to myself and other patients. Wait time to be seen was minimal. I enjoyed meeting Dr. Gherini. He is a kind, nice man who is easy going, personable and attentive. He was matter-of-fact to my need and although my injury is minor, I felt respected, cared for and given a straight-forward positive prognosis. I highly recommend Dr, Gherini and am thrilled to know that Ukiah has a top-notch Orthopedic Surgeon, Upon arriving home after my appointment, I called friends of mine, who are in need of Orthopedic care and encouraged them to seek his excellent care.

First the backstory: I have lived with chronic pain my entire life, literally from the day I was born. I have a congenital birth defect that was not diagnosed until I was 55 years old. Rather than making my pain better, the surgery they did to remove the mass they discovered in my pre-sacral body cavity turned out to dramatically increase it. During this time period, I was treated by the pain clinic at Stanford Hospital. They were excellent, and I felt Based on my experience that they deserved their reputation as one of the best pain clinics in the country. Still, my pain worsened Along with my PTSD and I ended up having to move from the congested mid-Peninsula Town of Palo Alto to Ukiah. I was referred to Dr Young and after literally Decades of seeing pain doctors either did not understand, did not deeply listen, or did not have their focus on me. Dr Young has helped me get off of methadone-It has been 3 years now. He has worked with me to find the most effective medication for procedure for me that has the lowest side effect and risk profile. He is always willing to offer me new ideas and possible solutions to my predicament. Perhaps the greatest thing he has given me is Hope. At one point I had an accidental overdose. When I woke up in the emergency room the first face I saw was Dr Young at my bedside. He reached over and gave me a deep long hug. Not the kind of thing a doctor does. I start to cry when I think about it now. He stayed within healthy doctor/patient boundaries yet managed to give me a level of support I did not receive from anyone in my family.

If he, or I, had to move, I'd drive to wherever he is for appointments . He works 24 hours a day I think. You become a team for your health & if you are willing to put the work in you will get better. He has told me I should have been in a walker or more years ago. I told him I'm too stubborn for that. Some days it is hard to get out of bed I'min so much physical pain whereupon, I've called him on weekends or after hours and he has never derided me for calling & always supportive and caring, wanting to help. Dr. Shwartz is a caring and thorough primary care physician, and we have all felt very well looked-after. He takes his time and one does not feel rushed. Referrals to specialists have been excellent.The office is run efficiently with superb and timely record keeping. Appointments begin in a timely way, and the place is clean and pleasant. I really cannot think of how it could be better. Very grateful to have this clinic, and this fine doctor in particular.

It is my home and I love it here for many reasons First I would say the staff here are very helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to see to our every need. The residence is very clean. It is spacious with a library, game room and a laundry facility to wash your clothes. Once a week my room is cleaned and new linens and towels supplied The maintenance men are very attentive and immediately fix any problems The food here is excellent and the menu is varied. Everything is delicious and healthy. I am diabetic and the kitchen staff bends over backwards to help me with my diet providing sugar free alternatives. You can get as much food as you want and even take leftovers to your room There are many activities, a well equipped exercise room, a library with a wide variety of novels and reference books to borrow My entire family can visit me here. They can attend special events and dinners. I would highly recommend Brookside if you are looking for yourself or a loved one.

Theres always something going on at Brookside. I was just there visiting (I am from Hawaii) this past Thanksgiving and there was a talented musician playing in the dining area. My Mom acted like she would rather be in there with her friends and neighbors than coming with me to our family gathering! hahaha. Below is my mom, sister and BIL at their recent Hawaiian Luau night. FUN. Is it contemporary modern with posh upscale finishings? No it is not. Does mom care? She could give a rip. Do we care? NOT ONE BIT. The price is right and the community there is EVERYTHING!!
