I went there because I could not sleep. They put me on Schizophrenic and antianxiety drugs. I was able to sleep on them and am still taking Schizophrenic pills with ADHD drugs. I liked my stay there. They have good meals and don't pressure you into anything. Plus it is good to contact like Morgan and Morgan after your stay there because they can put you on disability. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They put me on schizo meds and after I cut myself with a razor I'm the hospital, and the time I dug a hole to my vein under a blanket they didn't switch my meds. They sent me home on it. I should be dead. I never got better on those meds I had to stop taking it cuz it made me so paranoid I thought someone was coming to get me until I flushed all the pills and stopped taking it. This went on for about a year. I almost died. Shame on them. If your patient is suicidal switch their meds! That could be the meds!!!!! I've never hurt myself off of meds. I have a family member who goes to Lakeside for mental health treatment, and I get to take her to most of her appointments. I will save you a mild political rant about what is wrong with the treatment of the mentally ill in our country, but I will say that everything that is wrong can be seen firsthand at Lakeside. It is a mess. I have had to wait with her for hours after her appointment time because they were so backed up. And this isn't a regular waiting room. This is in a room with a person close by shouting about how much Jesus loves us, while the woman next to me is literally freaking out because the pharmacy closes at 1:00 (on Saturday) and it's now 1:45 (on Friday) and she just can't comprehend what day it is. Really. When you do go back for an appointment you will find a very detached broken-down healthcare professional who will ask you how you are sleeping, how are your symptoms, and then write you a prescription and send you on your way. You may spend half a day waiting here just to see a doctor for five minutes, but you have to do it to get your medication. You know who is crazy here? The people that run Lakeside. This place is absolutely ratchet!!! I have been coming here for 8 years now, and not by choice might I add. If you have an appointment, plan on being seen at least 2 hours after your scheduled appointment time. I would suggest bringing a book or smart phone to play with to kill time. This place is filthy. The janitorial staff is a joke, and the lobby's are often full of vagrants just looking to get out of the heat and sun. My son has been coming here for about 6 months now. There are good and bad things about this place. The pros are generally when we go we don't have too long of a wait, the staff is also usually nice and seem like they care. The con is that the dr's don't spend the time they need to with patients to really find the issue and help someone. Of all the time we have spent with the actual doctor averages about 5 mins and all he really does is jot a few notes and gives me my sons prescription to fill. I would think as a dr you would be inclined to help with the problem, not just medicate it. It is sad to me that there are dr like this, and i wish we could change but we cant. My son is doing a lot better and everyday is a new day. Sometimes you need help and here you will find it. read more

The only Pros is that they accept Medicare and Medicaid which a lot of places don't accept both. The psychiatrist I have now is much better than the one I used to have who you could barely understand so there was a lot of miscommunication. The girl I have now is very sweet and seems to care. When seeing the Therapist, not the psychiatrist, the wait time is short. The cons are you have to wait for almost 2 hours after your appointment time before you see the doctor. The place is not the cleanest and the waiting room is packed with people and some really worry me to where I feel uncomfortable being there. The Therapist seems tired and yawns a lot and not really that interested in what I have to say. I feel like she is just there to get a paycheck and have not gotten much help from all the visits. Worse place ever they should fire everyone and start over with new staff that has manners and understanding of people with mental health. The staff are rude and lack of compassion, my daughter was there a month back when I went to pick her up they let her come down bare foot, not even a pair of socks and no discharge paper or instruction they pretty much treated her like a dog. I called the next morning to asked some questions about the way she was discharged specially the no shoes issue instead of apologized the haitian nurse with the heavy accent was so rude and added to her lack of compassion, her word "did she come with shoes on "which she did in a middle of our conversation she hanged up on me. So plz shut that place down it doesn't really help any one with staff like that I'll go so far to say it can make people even worse which defeat the purpose of mental health, or fix it don't just change the name (Aspire) a pig with a lipstick is still a pig. The most horrible experience I've ever had no anxiety medication no pain medication. Slept on floor on very thin mat. Didn't see doctor for 4 days. I left in ambulance, a very medicated patient fell backwards on me slamming my head and body to floor. I went aspire ( formerly lakeside) because of my chronic pain. I have pain medication from my own doctor as I do have anxiety meds and diabetic medications. All were withheld. I waited for ambulance for 3+ hours as my hand and arm were swelling from the vey medicated man fell on me ! read more

I recently had an opportunity to stay here for a few days which got stretched into a couple weeks. While some may say there is abuse going on, I say it helped make me a better person when I was finally released. I am hoping to be admitted again during my next visit to Orlando. 5 stars in my book. read more

This place is horrible. The only people that are nice are some of the aids and the lady at the front desk. I was told by his patient Dr. Sing likes to pump people with several drugs all day long. I am sure they want to get as much out of the insurance companies as they can while the patient's insurance will pay for their stay. There are some very nasty people in high places and in the ward. There is very little time to help the patients, and only 10% of the people working there seem to care. It is a very sad and hopeless place to be in. I Baker Acted stepson this past Sat. night, 9.16.17. The next day I received a call at 6am from a restricted number. I did not hear the phone. My stepson said the doctor tried to contact me. They use a restricted number, left no voice mail message, and no way to return the call. Mental illness is no laughing matter. So far, my stepson has received zero help from any of these people including Florida Hospital. Nor do they seem to care about the family members or friends that feel desperate to find help for their loved ones. Florida and probably the nation needs an overhaul of this system beginning with the hired help. read more

I stayed in their pediatric wing when I was 14 (I am now 19 and thinking about this place still gives me anxiety). Not only did they put on a movie about a girl committing suicide (which they changed to Finding Nemo only because I protested) but they also were completely blind to several romances happening between patients (a 17 year old male and a 12 year old female). I wasn't helped at all. I was drugged and left to sit in front of a tv all day aside from meal times and an hour of outdoor recreation. There was no comprehensive therapy given. Our "therapy" consisted of filling out a paper asking about our triggers and symptoms and a plethora of coloring sheets. Even the medication they gave me made me numb instead of helping me in any way. To top it all off, the facility is so depressing to even be in. It is so plain and feels like a prison. Just the fact that I was there made me cry. Once in out-patient care, the psychiatrist at the time would barely even ask me questions or pay attention to my concerns. Lake side is an alternative for some who want to better themselves.The place can save your life.They do a lot at this building for people with all sorts of needs.They got me on the rite track with addiction then depression.I will renew a prescription soon. The process is not different from other healthcare places but a little longer waits because of the volume of patients they deal with.They do good work. read more
