I clicked the wrong button because I do not recommend this business. I had to go to this office for a scan. I got called back on time...sat in the chair and then waited...and waited...and waited. After 30 minutes I was furious. I got up and went to the front desk. The original person who came and got me originally was standing inside the door of an office talking. After telling me the machine had a problem it was mariculously fixed. I asked why she didn't have the common courtesy to come back into the room where she left me and updated me. In 2015, it was pretty good. Here are the dentists that are no longer there. Londry, Modlin, Harrison, Davis. Most dentists offices aren't rotating assembly lines. Most practices build up customers and have good retention. Since then, tons of turnover with front desk staff, office manager and hygienists. No continuous care. Incorrect billing. Rude. I have filed a report with the NC department of insurance and also let my insurer know that they need to do an audit on this place. read more

This place is a complete joke. They told me I needed to get Invisalign before I could have some major dental work done. So I went and had that completely first. After spending 5,000 on that. I come back for my next visit after I finish my Invisalign to find out the doctor that recommended the major dental work and getting Invisalign is gone from the office. The other doctor that Dr Hoffman works with Dr. Brandon Loren says that doctor was wrong and they can't do the treatment. They both knew about the plan and looked it over. So then Dr. Loren then recommended me to his brother in law. Which the price go up by 3 times the amount of the original quoted price to 60,000. When I brought it to Dr. Loren attention about the quoted price they gave me. He was very disrespectful and said we can't do anything about that. I have gone to this location for over five years and I loved the place until recently. The staff come and go so I've never seen the same person. As of late I've been seen by Dr. Davis, who has less than desirable bedside manners. I've witnessed him speak less than favorably towards two of his female hygienists, both whom did my last two cleanings. These two women offered me some sage advice regarding my oral care, but he always wanted my care to go in a different direction and, on front of me, brushed off what they would tell him . The last straw was when he referred me to an oral surgeon with an equally large ego and dismissive personality, where I underwent surgery to remove wisdom teeth. Five weeks in and I'm still in excruciating pain. Communication between the two offices was dismal so suffice to say, they've lost my trust and business. read more

My experience at Lakeside Dental was not a positive one. I was unable to make an appointment and needed to pay a $50 penalty for cancellation late in the day. i was a annoyed and stated i would not continue as a patient. I acknowledge I missed this policy when I signed my new patient paper work. However, I reserve right to be annoyed and choose to go elsewhere. The office manager sent me a letter stating that due to my cancellation and wish to no longer use this practice that if I still wanted to have the work done that I would need to pay a 50% non refundable deposit. I have insurance that would have covered my work. I digitally signed a request for my records (they were paid for these through my insurance) to be sent to another practice. I arrived at my new dental office and was told Lakeside had failed to send my records even though I asked and they ( the dental office) had called and requested them. You decide! read more

I've been coming to this dental office for years and had a decent experience until now. They seem to have a revolving door of medical as well as administrative staff. My recent treatment performed by Dr. Davis became a nightmare. This is a young doctor with an arrogant and dismissive attitude. I went in for a simple cleaning. Dr. Davis recommended and treated me for 2 crowns that resulted in excruciating pain for 3 weeks without offering a resolution. i saw Dr. Mayberry for a simple task of a partial plate adjustment. Another new dentist. The turnover in dentists and staff is concerning. He didn't place it in my mouth to exam the fit. He stepped away for a moment and handed it back to me broken. That is a $1,300.00 partial plate. I was so shocked I was speechless. He left the room and his assistant took X-rays. Understand, I was going to address this, but not when I was so upset. The impressions taken for a new partial plate failed. Needed a redo. A new appointment was scheduled with the other dentist, that I requested , Dr. Lauren. I received text messages for an incorrect appointment time which could have had me responsible for a late fee. I was texted to take my antibiotics before I arrived to see Dr. Loren. Upon arrival I was told by Madeline, Dr. Loren was not taking the impressions, it was only a consult. No explanation was given in regards to why I was instructed to take antibiotics for a consult. Now I addressed the fact that Dr. Mayberry had broken my partial plate. Madeline said Dr. Mayberry said the plate was broken when I arrived. That is a blatant lie and I wanted to see him immediately. No one made an effort for that to happen. Absolutely fantastic!!! After not being able to get an appointment with our regular dentist we decided to go to lakeside dental because of how many advertisements they sent via the mail. They really went out of their way to fit us in before the end of the year. First off I would like to point out that they gave the most thorough exam of any dentist I've ever been to. Carrie was my dental assistant. She was incredible and really made me feel comfortable being in the dentist's office. All of the dental assistants have a great rapport which means that something is right! As a new patient they really make sure that you feel at ease and that you are getting all of the information that you need to have in terms of your gum and teeth care. It has been almost 3 weeks since my dental appointment when I had two cavities filled ( which my previous dentist did not fill correctly and they had to fix it). I have not had any issues at all. The office itself is great because each exam room has its own television. That goes a long way in helping to distract you during any dental procedure. Additionally, after the very thorough exam, they project your x-rays onto the television to explain to you what is going on in your mouth. Dental care is so extremely important for your health. And I am so pleased to find a dentist that takes their time make sure that you feel happy and comfortable and very well informed. read more

Awful. Avoid. Used to be good with Landry and Modlin. They had good retention with staff. After that, super slide downhill. The hygienist that was amazing left shortly after. Then they had fill in hygienists who were not regular employees. There are too many good dentist offices in the area to get this kind of care. I saw Dr. Davis once for a regular exam. He said I am going to need to take out your one filling because there might be more of a cavity. I said what if there isn't? He said then I will fill it again. It didn't pass the gut check with me. So I saw Dr. Loren a few weeks later for another reason and asked him to look at my xrays. He said no. There is nothing suspicious. Also the office is very unpleasant to visit. They have an essential oil diffuser going full blast in the lobby AND glad plug ins in the treatment room! Instant headache and it causes my reactive airways to wheeze. I really never leave negative reviews but honestly do your research. You will have an extremely subpar experience here. I pulled all of my family from their care and found another office. read more

WARNING - I have had to report Lakeside Dental to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, the NC Department of Justice, and the Better Business Bureau for fraudulent practices. My experience with Lakeside and Dr. Harrison was awful. They would push services on me that other dentists told me I do not need (three different services on three separate occasions). I believe they care more about maximizing their billable services than they do about their patients. I have been fighting the charge from my last visit for 2 years. The Dentist told me I needed an Occlusal Guard to prevent grinding at night. He brought in the lady from their billing department and she had told me they had done a pre-authorization, and that my responsibility would be $40. I got fitted and went on my way. A week or so later I went back to pick up the device. Three months after that they called me to inform me that my insurance company had denied the claim. They were asking for another $400 out of pocket. I called my insurance company to inquire about the denial, and why it would come months after the service was "pre-authorized". My insurance company informed me that as an in-network provider my dentist was well aware that the service was not covered. They had never submitted any authorization and furthermore, since they were in-network, they had a contract which negotiated a rate for billing night guards as a "non-covered service". I told them that what they had done was completely unethical, and that they would need to honor the rate of $40 since I was told by their billing department that they were authorized to perform this service at that rate. I simply would not have agreed to have the service performed for $400, as it was a solution to a problem that I didn't even know existed. I offered to return the device as well. The lady from billing asked me if I was refusing to pay the charge, and I told her I would absolutely not pay it. She replied, "Oh yeah, we will see about that when I send you to collections". I informed her that she was choosing to lose a patient and long term business over a one time dispute. It all seemed very petty, particularly when you take into consideration how much billable revenue I generate when I walk in their door for 30 minutes twice a year. This charge-off has not bothered me. My credit score went from a 790 to a 740. I can still get loans at 3% APR and no lender has ever questioned the $400 charge-off. I could certainly afford to pay the $400. However, I refuse to pay for this charge based on principle. The business was procured fraudulently therefore the creditor has no legal right to the debt. Last week, I called to get the names and date relevant to the visit that resulted in the fraudulent charge. The new office manager heard my grievance and offered to help resolve the situation. She was very polite and informed me that they had a completely new staff in the office. I told her since the staff was new, I would be willing to give them another chance to earn my business as a patient if we could resolve the $400 charge off. The lady in billing was outright disrespectful after I spoke to the manager. Not only was she unhelpful, but she was also rude. She basically suggested that it was my problem because I did not pay my bill. She claimed there is nothing she can do for me because the account had already been sent to collection. I calmly asked how we would resolve the situation to help earn back my business, as her office manager had suggested. I was going to propose that they report the debt was inaccurate to the collection agency, but I was rudely hung up on (with an audible grunt/sigh) before I could get another word out. I don't mind being told that they are not going to help me, but don't waste my time under false pretense. If you do not want to do right by your patients I can accept that. I only ask that you be upfront about it so I can seek care from a dentist that is fair and honest. You can't drive half a mile without passing a dentist's office... so yourself a favor and pass right by this one!!! read more

I setup an appointment 3 weeks ago for a chipped tooth. At that time I gave the lady on the phone all my personal info as well as my insurance info. I showed up today and was handed some paperwork to fill out. I filled it out and could hear one of the ladies up front on the phone talking to someone about my insurance. My guess trying to figure out coverage. I walked up to the front to give them back my paperwork. Neither one looked at me, they were clearly talking to each other about me. They were being very vague and making hand gestures. I could tell that there was obviously an issue with my insurance. Rather than just being up front right away, for 2 minutes they let me stand there (never addressing me) and talked very quietly trying very hard to not let me figure out what they were talking about (needless to say, extremely awkward for me). Finally one of them spoke up and said "Are you familiar with your dental insurance?" Then gave me the whole explanation of why exactly my insurance was not accepted there. I said thank you and left. Now, I am well aware it is not there fault that my dental insurance is not accepted there. But here is where I get irritated. I scheduled this appointment 3 weeks ago, when I chipped a tooth. I coordinated taking the day off work and getting day care for my son. Why could they have not have found this information out when I set the appointment. I gave them no more information today, but as soon as I was in the office they called the provider and found out in less than 5 mins that my insurance was not accepted there. They had 3 weeks to review my insurance and find this all out. I am now out a day's pay, pay for a baby sitter, gas to get up there, my tooth is still chipped and it will be another couple of weeks for me to get an appointment, and they are out a paying patient for my time slot. Beyond me, why they wouldn't have checked right in the beginning. If they can't manage the front desk appropriately I can only imagine how they would be at managing my dental coverage and my out of pocket costs. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I've never had such awful customer service while dealing with a supposedly professional medical practice. They never pick up there phone or give call backs when you leave a voicemail. I had a bill due that was due last year that had not been charged to my insurance. I was emailing back and forth with Morgan about it gave her my insurance card info again that they had some how lost and thought the bill would then be token care of. Its a year later never received a call or a bill in the mail but I just got a text message instead saying I still owe the whole amount for last years statement. THE BEST! I had a tooth emergency (bad toothache), and I called late on a Monday afternoon for an appointment. They said they could get me in early the next day and also asked if I would like to get my teeth cleaned at the same time, too. Of course, I did!. We just moved to the area, and at my last dentist, you had to make an cleaning appointment months in advance. The dental hygienist was great, and then Dr. Matthew Harrison checked out my ailing tooth. I had an infection, so options were to get a root canal or extraction. I opted for extraction because of the location of the molar. Now, here is where I have to really rave. In the past, I have had several extractions where dentist were too aggressive and it was uncomfortable during the procedure. From the way Dr. Harrison administered the novacaine (or?), he was a master. In fact after the procedure, I did not have the usual face drooping, mouth and lip numbness for hours when you have a lower tooth worked on. When he extracted my tooth, I did not know he was done. I final realized that the tooth was gone when I felt the place with my tongue. I could not believe that it was pulled!! I also have two tooth implants that are ready to have the crowns placed, and -- SURPRISE -- Dr. Harrison also does implants!!! I could not be happier -- best dentist I have had so far in my 68 years -- and I have had major dental work for years. I will definitely recommend this office and dentist again and again. read more

They are the very, very best and I owe my life to my dentist (Dr. Modlin). I was new to the area (moved from Washington State in 2014 and picked them out of the phone book and called them for a "check up" and cleaning. It was done very professionally and I was told to return every six months for cleaning. In Fall of 2015 I went for a cleaning and told the dental assistant that I had a sore spot in my mouth that would not go away. She immediately got Dr. Modlin, who came to look. He advised me to go to an Oral Surgeon for a biopsy. I went two weeks later and had a biopsy. It came back positive for cancer on my tongue. I had 1/3 of my tongue removed, and my Oncologist re-attached the tongue to the side of my moth and 6 weeks of radiation. Surgery at Wake-Forest and radiation at Levine. I called Dr. Modlin and left a message, canceling cleaning as I was getting evaluated at Wake Forest. This is now December, 2015. I had surgery in January and radiation March and April 2016. I think it important to note Dr. Modlin asked me to come in prior to surgery so he could show his staff what he saw. I was happy to do so. I also had been to my PCP and an Eye/Ear and Throat MD, who advised me it was just a "yeast" infection and gave me medication (which did not work) in August, 2015. I just came back from my cleaning (February 1, 2017) and Dr. Modlin was very helpful in designing my dental treatment plan keeping in mind that the area where the surgery was is very painful still.
