It has been over 6 months since visiting this location. Writing a review for a funeral home seems a little odd but honestly this one deserves a review. One of my best friend's husband passed away unexpectedly and as her friend I called a couple of local funeral homes to find out specifics so she and her family didn't have to make those hard calls until they needed to. Lakeview was the only one that could meet with us the same day that we called and he had a nice tone over the phone. This location is called lakeside because there is a little lake next to it. When we got there we met Kyle, and another director, owners and family. This is a family owned funeral home. Walking inside this funeral home doesn't feel dingy or old, it's bright and welcoming. I didn't take any photos but this is a very nice funeral home. The complete opposite of most funeral homes. They gave us a tour and the family was able to see the different areas to choose from. They led us back to a little conference room and we discussed all the things that we wanted to know since we had no idea where to start. Not once did I or the family feel like they were trying to sell us something that was unnecessary. They help with the services, the obituary, obtaining the death certificate and other necessary items. They are very respectful and compassionate. It was interesting to know that they have an onsite crematorium, the only one in the state. And if you choose to have your loved one cremated, they will respect your wishes and store them there until you are ready to bring home. I thought that was very respectful. Okay, fast forward to the day of the visitation. The family decided on a visitation and it ended up being a great time for the family despite the circumstances. We happened to be the only family at the funeral home that day and were told that we had the whole home to ourselves. This was great because individuals could roam freely and if a screaming child needed to cool down a parent could walk them into the chapel or break room and not disrupt the family. Words cannot express how comforting this funeral home was, which is why this review may seem lengthy. The funeral directors greeted EVERY single person who entered the funeral home. Kleenex was on every table and they offered water or coffee to everyone as well. They would kindly check in with the family and see if they needed anything routinely but respectfully. The bathrooms were clean, the break room is a good space with easy to find with water and coffee available. We had an older family member who was cold and the funeral director brought out a soft blanket for her! I mean talk about paying attention to details. This funeral home is easy to get to, the owners are friendly, it is clean and welcoming and a great spot to be when going through a rough time. If I had to sum up this funeral home in one word it would be, comforting. read more

I recently had to travel to Georgia because my father was very sick & dying from cancer. After many days of being by his side & saying good-bye, it was time to give him the most honorable tribute we could imagine. My dad was a Vietnam Vet, a Mason, a Shriner, an amazing father & so much more. Everyone at Lakeside Funeral Home was extremely helpful, respectful, compassionate, & the location was stunning. They made a very difficult process much less strenuous & gave us the comfort in knowing that every detail was being taken care of in a most caring, beautiful way. I can't think of a better way to honor their hard work other than to share my experience on here with whomever might read this. For anyone else going through a similar experience, I am so very sorry for your loss. It's never an easy time. Having to deal with a deceased spouse is a very traumatic and devastating event. Fortunately, Kyle Standridge and Lakeside Funeral Home helped me through the process. At all points, they were friendly, helpful, compassionate, and caring. It was a great pleasure working with them and I would highly recommend them to anyone having to deal with the death of a loved one. When I first met them to make the arrangements, they explained all of our options and allowed me to make the choices I felt best. There was no pressure or attempt to sell any service beyond what I wanted. They explained all options so that I fully understood everything--even in the diminished state of mind that I was in at the time. At the service, they went out of their way and gave 110% in accommodating our needs. They supplied all space and equipment--tables and even a piano--so that the service went off without the slightest hitch. Last week our father passed away from a chronic illness. From the first call until my Dad was laid to rest, the staff at Lakeside Funeral Home went above and beyond anything we have ever seen anywhere else. Kyle Standridge made my father look 10 years younger (which really helped after a long illness). The kindness and compassion that we were shown made this whole experience easier. About a month again, my husband passed away. We were devastated, and we wanted to find just the right place to have him taken. My young adult children and I visited several funeral homes to see if we could find one that was warm and home-like. Lakeside Funeral Home was the clear choice. All of the other funeral homes we visited felt like they were nothing more than businesses with at times oily personnel. Kyle and the others at Lakeside Funeral Home immediately made you feel like family. The atmosphere was very warm and caring, and most importantly, sincerely that way. They helped with decisions but never pushed to have things done a certain way. The funeral was held in their chapel and was beautiful. The sound system was excellent, and Kyle was there every step of the way to help us when needed. From start to finish, everything at Lakeside was done professionally but as though you truly were part of their family. I highly recommend Lakeside Funeral Home if you want a sincere and caring place for the funeral of a loved one. We lost our precious son suddenly on Nov. 30, 2013, one day short of his 25th birthday. We were broken & could barely function. We knew Lakeside was very close to our home & at first we hesitated, concerned about how we would feel passing by each time we left our home. My husband called another funeral home in the area then finally decided to make the call to Lakeside. After speaking with Kyle my husband knew we needed to make Lakeside our first visit. Kyle greeted us warmly, there was an instant connection, as Kyle continued to speak to us all of our hesitations of being too close to our home were erased from our minds. The loving kindness that we were shown by Kyle, his family and staff was truly exceptional, genuine and sincere. Paul took great care to guide us through all the steps and explained to us clearly what our options were, at NO time did we ever feel like we were being pressured, amazingly just the opposite. My husband and I were very much on the same page of what our desires were so everything went very smoothly. Another major consideration for us was we had decided that we wanted to have our son cremated,.and Lakeside also offers this service. We felt very strongly that our son had been through enough and we did not want his body transported to an outside facility to have this done. Kyle assured us that the utmost respect would be given to our son during the entire process. This has been the most difficult time in our life and we truly feel blessed that we made the choice to use Lakeside Funeral Home. We had a sudden tragedy in our family and Lakeside Funeral Home was suggested to us. I am thankful for that suggestion. We had planned to check into a few different places, but once we met Kyle there was no more looking. His caring nature and then follow through with everything was exceptional. When my mom in law passed we called Lakeside funeral Home Bill Watson answered and he said he was the funeral director. After inquiring about a time we went in and met with him. He is wonderful and made a very hard situation easier!!!! I can't say enough nice things about him.
