The fish was burned and the batter had no flavor at all. Even doused with lots of malt vinegar, salt and pepper, it was still barely edible ( I ate the inside). If I hadn't been so hungry I would have sent it back, but I had not eaten all day and was hangry. In the picture you can see one showing the burnt side and I turned the other one over to check the other side. There was a kale slaw type salad that was just ok. Had lots of onion in it which I don't prefer. The fries were not good at all. Limp, no flavor. I only ate two and gave up. We went to Publix and got a frozen pizza and went home and cooked it. The place is nice, clean from what I saw and our waitress was wonderful. This would be a 3.5 only because of the great service.

They are accommodating, attentive, and genuinely seem to care about the customer experience. The food is consistently good. Their burgers and wraps are among the best in the area, and the fish and chips are excellent. I recently had a friend visiting who is gluten-free, and I was impressed by how many options Rudy's offered and how willing they were to accommodate special requests. It was a great reminder that they do a lot more than typical sports bar fare. Beyond the food, Rudy's does a great job supporting the community with kids' nights, trivia, and other events that bring people together. As someone who has lived in Apex for more than 10 years, I'd consider Rudy's a local staple at this point. That's why it's disappointing to see people criticize a locally owned establishment over things like a delayed takeout order or not being provided a brunch menu. The locals know why Rudy's has been successful for so long. Something I noticed in Italy was that the noodles were never cooked too softly. They were still more firm but edible and delicious and that's how they were prepared at this restaurant in Raleigh. I started with a glass of Italian Prosecco, which absolutely hit the spot, followed by the Caesar salad. The salad was fresh and perfectly dressed, although the croutons tasted a little more packaged than homemade. A small detail, but fresh croutons would have elevated an otherwise excellent Caesar. For dinner, I ordered the Tortelli Crostacci -- fresh pasta stuffed with lobster, crabmeat, and prawns in a cream sauce. The sauce was delicious, and I happily finished the dish, but I kept searching those little pasta pillows for the seafood. I could smell it more than I could taste it. A few visible pieces of lobster, crab, or shrimp in the sauce or over the pasta would have made the seafood component shine. It was good, but next time I'd explore something else on the menu. They also brought bread with olive oil, which looked lovely, but I only have one stomach and had priorities! Service was friendly throughout, even as the restaurant became quite busy with several large tables. I ordered tiramisu to go but, sadly, never got to enjoy it. When I opened it the next day, quite a bit of liquid had collected in the container and the dessert had become watery, so I decided not to eat it. I'm not sure what happened there, but tiramisu shouldn't weep like that. One last quirky detail: even the restroom was adorable, although the accordion-style door took a little negotiating. Bonus points for having a shelf where I could set my takeout bag rather than putting it somewhere questionable! Overall, Caffé Luna has plenty going for it: a beautiful historic setting, gracious hospitality, a straightforward Italian menu, and a lovely atmosphere. There were a few misses with my particular meal, but nothing that would keep me from returning. I'd happily come back and work my way through a different part of the menu. Next we ordered the trio of all three spreads (Tzatziki, sun-dried tomato hummus, and spicy feta spread) and the calamari. Both dishes were excellent and I definitely prefer the spicy feta and tzatziki sauce. For my main course I ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop (Chargrilled tomahawk chop, spinach, barrel-aged feta, herb aioli, Greek lemon potatoes) which was a bit disappointing. I probably should have sent the pork chop back as it was cooked well done and was very dry but was I was too hungry and didn't want to make my parents wait. For dessert I ordered Baklava Cheesecake (New York-style cheesecake with nuts and baklava filling) which was very nice and my mom ordered the Limoncello cake (lemon cake with lemon cream frosting) which was definitely the star of the show. If I'm back downtown I may try Taverna Agora again but will definitely avoid ordering the pork chop.
