It's spring and I like going to parks on my lunch break. I decided to go to this park today for the first time since it's close to work. This park is within a neighborhood. After arriving, I saw a walking sidewalk and a small pond. I didn't think there was much to it, but after getting out of the car I was pleasantly surprised. The park has a small pond that is the highlight of the park. I saw someone fishing out the pond so I may try that one day. They also have a nice deck with seating in front of the pond and a relaxing water feature. I walked on the sidewalk path and that was nice. The path had some parts where you go up and down which was challenging. There's many areas with tables and a nice covered area. There's also a park area for the kids. This was my first but definitely not my last visit to this park.

Beautiful park! Love the fall here! . It is a beautiful day, a little rain, little breeze, peaceful and perfect.

I love this park so much. It's one of my favorite places to go running or to take my dogs on a walk. There are two playgrounds, both with water fountains and one with a restroom. There is also a pond with a deck, two pavilion areas for parties, soccer fields, baseball pitches and multiple picnic benches with places to grill. Pros: -Easy to park - there is a parking lot, but you can also park basically anywhere along the park as long as you aren't parked in front of the houses in the neighborhood -Safe - I've been here at all times of the day and have never felt uncomfortable or unsafe -Well maintained - the city of Richardson employees are always out there mowing the grass or emptying the trash cans, the trail around the park is paved and very even -Dog friendly - there are doggie bags and trash cans conveniently located along the path to make it easy to clean up after your pets -Relaxing - the neighborhood it is in is very quiet, not a lot of cars driving by -Beautiful - the best part is in the spring when they let wildflowers grow in large portions of the park Cons: -Sunny - the path around the park has little to no shade so during the summer months it's very hard to walk around in the day, however the city is trying to plant trees all along the path, it'll still take some time for those to grow large enough though -Could use a dog water fountain since I see so many people with their dogs here

I had a good experience at Crowley Park. The people were friendly and nice. I spent most of my time exploring the wooded areas and creek. Beautiful place!

Great for anything outdoors! Running, walking, grilling, kite flying, soccer, football, dog walking. It's excellent. The upkeep is great. It's relaxing and quiet. They also have big gazebos and a deck area. And then there's ducks. Cute little baby ducks.

Wild flowers are blooming in spring.

It's a very nice neighborhood park. More then that it's not such a great neighborhood park, it's a very huge park with BBQ grills, playground, etc. Always enjoying spending time there! Great for bike riding, rollerblading, walking, walking with dogs, spend time with family, kids and friends, taking some nature paths, & just enjoying beautiful nature!

Ask the Community - Crowley Park

    Can u fish the pond?

Yes. I've seen people fish there. Not sure if it's catch and release but the people I've seen there always release what they catch.

Cottonwood Park is located across from Richardson High School in the southwest corner of the City…read moreof Richardson. It is a popular neighborhood park, but since it is one of the larger parks in Richardson, it attracts residents from around town. The park has a wide paved sidewalk that winds around the green space allowing visitors to get some exercise. There is a creek that flows through the park and has been dammed in two places to create large ponds that attract ducks, geese, herons and other wildlife. There are two walking bridges that cross the creek on the north and south side of the park. You can also find tennis courts, basketball hoops, sand volleyball, and a small swimming pool that has a separate deep end with diving boards. The pool is only open during the summer between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend. Pool hours are limited and depend greatly on the city budget and the number of lifeguards available. A major attraction is a children's playground. It has been developed with different age groups in mind and is accessible for individuals with disabilities too. Twice a year, each spring and each fall, the city holds the Cottonwood Arts Festival. This is a juried event with artists from around the country displaying and selling their unique creations. The City of Richardson plants wildflowers all over the city each spring and reserves large areas of the park for the flowers too. It's a great place to take photos and have a picnic with your family. There are two covered pavilions that can be reserved by residents for parties, meetings, and other activities. The pavilions have tables and chairs and even electricity. I wish visitors to the park would do a better job of picking up after themselves, and I wish the city would do a better job of maintaining the park. Trashcans are often full and not emptied frequently enough so garbage ends up overflowing and blowing around into the grass and the waterway. Despite this, I really enjoy visiting this park on a regular basis. You should check it out too.

The shallow end has a beach-type entrance that gradually slopes into the water. What drew me here was Dog Splash Day. Neighborhood pools in Richardson are open limited hours in the blazing hot summer when kids are out from school. Pools shutdown nearly a month before Labor Day because kids are already back in school. However the real fun happens on the last day of the season when they open the pool up to humans and dogs. The dogs had a blast swimming, jumping, and peeing in the pool. It was about 109 degrees on this particular summer day in August. There was very little shade, so what little they had, everyone was congregated under it. The people running the event took more cash than was advertised to get inside. City of Richardson said $6, but the gate entrance told me $7. The City of Richardson advertisement online said this was a fundraiser for the shelter, but Richardson Shelter staff on site did not acknowledge this. They said they were there to break up dog fights. Someone was kind enough to give me a pupcup which I used to lure my dog to the water. He got his paws wet, but didn't venture any closer. On his own volition, he did head over to the water to cool off, but upon it touching his belly hair, he immediately ran back to shore. Fun event! Glad I went. Will try again next year to get my dog into the water. Hopefully it won't be as hot.
