I don't know who Uncle T is, but that dude knows how to make great food that is incredibly popular. Uncle T's is a busy place. I didn't even know that the "Boudin Capital of the World" had this many people. The place was packed, and I visited on an off time on an off day. I guess they don't have any off times or off days. Our wait was quoted at 40 minutes, and it was fairly accurate. They have a full bar to grab a drink and chat with friends while you wait. You can also grab a drink and stand alone in the corner, but that would be creepy as hell. Once seated, I was ready for some food. My kid and I shared some of their firecracker chargrilled oysters, and they were wonderful. Ensure your order has charbroiled oyster,s and you will be happy. The table also had an order of fried onion rings, and they, too, were excellent. My entrée was fried shrimp. When it arrived, I was concerned as the batter looked a little darker than I am used to. One bite, and that concern went out the window. These were some perfectly fried shrimp. This is an awesome place.
After hearing a lot of hype about Uncle T's, we decided to finally give it a try. We ordered the Holly Beach Slammer, which comes with four different styles of oysters. They were okay, not bad but not great. There was a lot of topping and filler, and the oysters themselves were on the smaller side, which was a little disappointing. My wife had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp, and I went with a pound of boiled shrimp. The boiled shrimp were actually pretty good, nice flavor and cooked right, not overdone. Overall, it was an average experience. Not bad, but I'm not sure it lived up to all the hype.
Uncle T's absolutely knocked it out of the park. Every single dish we tried was a hit, and the menu strikes that perfect balance between comfort food and bold, creative flavors. The boudin egg rolls were unreal--crispy on the outside, packed with flavor on the inside, and clearly made with care. The Landry po'boy was stacked and satisfying, with fresh ingredients and a perfect bite every time. The alligator bites were tender, well-seasoned, and fried just right--not greasy at all. The fish plate was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful, with sides that actually felt thought-out instead of an afterthought. But the real standout? The firecracker oysters. Unique, bold, and addictive--sweet heat with just the right kick. That's the kind of dish you come back for and tell people about. To top it off, T's Tea with the rice vodka was both strong and refreshing--the kind of drink that sneaks up on you in the best way and pairs perfectly with the food. Great food, great drinks, and a menu that shows real personality. Uncle T's is the kind of place you recommend without hesitation and can't wait to revisit.
We had the variety oyster plate.. nice size oysters, great and original concoctions bursting with flavor. The onion rings were perfectly cooked and a perfect complement to the main course. We were completely satisfied and were a bit surprised when asked if we were ready to order. We couldn't have ate another bite. Drinks were equally delicious. If you enjoy oysters this is a must have meal. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Bon Apatite.
Wow, Uncle T"s rocks! In town for dinner with a couple friends Uncle T's was a suggestion by one of my buds. Sports bar/pub inside with outside patio eating it's a casual environment for families and friends to meet Nice beer selection including plenty on draft I decided on a frosty tap Sheinerbock. For appetizers we had the boudin egg rolls and Catfish pieces. The boudin egg rolls came with a delicious pepper jelly. Egg rolls were crispy and hot , filled with lots of deliciousness its a big portion, plenty for 3 to share! My favorite, the Catfish pieces. Fried in crispy cornmeal they came out HOT but still tender and juicy - they were awesome! Our sweet server decided she didn't like our portion size and came back with a second basket to add to our current - NO ISSUES from me , it's about the FULL PORTION For mains, my buddy had the char grilled oysters and guarded them like a jail prisoner guarding his daily food ration I had a grilled fish PO BOY and I gotta say this was the best PO BOY I've ever had. PLENTY of fish , so much that it fell off the bread everytime I bit into the bread ( the bread was excellent too)My side was the coleslaw, big scoop with excellent crunch! Uncle T"s , can't wait to visit y"all again!
Stayed in town on our way to New Orleans and stopped by Uncle T's for dinner. It was packed so that was a good sign. We waited about 45 mins for our table around 6:30. We had drinks outside while we waited. Once seated our sweet server Amy promptly took our order and dined on boudin balls, fish bites, and boiled shrimp. The portions are huge. You can easily split meals. Everything was delicious!
The food was so good! I forgot to ask our server for her name, but she was so good to us! The ambiance was amazing! It looked beautiful! But, it wasn't fancy! So if you want to go and enjoy yourself, (in Louisiana) go there!
We always come here when we visit Lafayette. Yes, there are other restaurants in Lafayette but something about this place and the ambiance is welcoming and always good. Spicy Bloody Mary was om point and garnishes were a welcomes appetizer. The Onion rings and poboy burger were worth the money and enough to bring home. Raw oysters were fresh and went down easy, lol. The chargrilled was what we waited for for 4 years to come back to!!! 9 out of the 1w were perfect but the other 4 were burnt and wayyyy overcooked. They should have not been sent to the table. After telling the waitress, she didn't offer to replace them or get us new ones so 3 were left on the plate. Hard as a rock and the shell was black as coal. This was a little disappointing but won't stop us from coming back. Next time we will just insist we get 12 cooked correctly.
I finally decided to try Uncle T's Oyster Bar after hearing so much about it. I've been to nearly every local restaurant in Lafayette and the surrounding areas, but this one had somehow slipped through the cracks--until yesterday, when I was craving some good oysters. When we arrived, there was a 35-minute wait for a table inside. While we waited, we opted for the heated patio, which wasn't too bad and made the wait more tolerable. Once inside, we were seated in Ashley's section near the kitchen. Ashley was a fantastic server--friendly and attentive. She even went out of her way to accommodate my mother-in-law's request for fish fried extra hard, and her effort really stood out! We started with the oyster sampler. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing part of the meal. The oysters were completely overcooked--so blackened that we couldn't enjoy the different toppings. It was clear the sampler had potential, but the execution missed the mark. For my entrée, I decided to step out of the box and ordered the chopped cheese with waffle fries, and it was absolutely delicious. I loved the creative twist of serving it on French bread--it's definitely something I'd come back for. We also tried a bowl of gumbo, which was pretty good overall, though the potato salad on the side could use a bit more seasoning. The rest of my party ordered fried seafood, which was solid--no complaints there. Everything was cooked well and tasted as expected. Overall, the oyster sampler was a letdown, but the rest of the meal, combined with Ashley's excellent service, helped redeem the experience. I'd be willing to give Uncle T's another try, but I hope they improve their oysters, as that's what I came for in the first place.
We checked into our hotel in Scott and told the lovely lady at the front desk that we wanted a shrimp boil. She took the sheet full of recommended places, circled Uncle T's and said we needed to go there. And so we did. We took a Lyft and got there early (maybe around 5-530) and got seated on the patio. The weather was wonderful. Service was fantastic. She answered all of our questions, and we got the best food and drink. I appreciated the time she took to explain the best way to eat crawfish. My daughter was in heaven. I was happy with my po'boy. We got a Lyft back with happy tummies. Inside had a lot of different dining areas. It had a lot of light wood so the place felt very open. There was a second patio area off to the side that had a high top type bar area for people to sit at as well. The best thing was that if you went in and all the way to the back on the left, there was an excellent hand (and face) washing station. Two big thumbs up.

I'll keep it short and sweet. My first dish was the Protein Plate grilled shrimp with roasted veggies ($16.80). The veggies were okay, but the shrimp were tough and lukewarm. The grilled veggies were definitely seasoned better than the shrimp. I also ordered the Zydeco Chicken ($13.20), which was really tender but salty. The zydeco sauce that came with these zydeco chicken was really good. If I were to return, I would not re-order either dish. read more

Amazing boiled crawfish! I am very critical of restaurant crawfish as I most do not compare to my own boil at home. The service was great, highly attentive wait staff. Fried fish appetizer was so good. We will definitely return. Thank you Uncle T's! read more

Our eighth year coming here. As always, it's a great time. The shrimp in the seafood platter were overdone but there was so much food we wouldn't have eaten it all anyway. Oysters were on point - NOLA had Parmesan and Garlic, Firecracker were topped with bacon and spicy peppers. The muffaletta bread was cheesy and packed with olives and the Spicy Ritas were delicious. Was impressed with the manager, sorry I didn't get his name, he was everywhere. Checking in with tables but helping the servers too. Also saw the hostess team helping the bus staff. They were all working as a team which you don't see often. See you next year Uncle T's! read more

No one told this place to be this good. Got my little group together and took a drive to Scott to try Uncle T's Oyster Bar. We all got a little bit of something and sampled everything from each other. The way to do it in my opinion. All of the food was good. The service was good and the drinks were spot on. My mom had the blueberry lemon drop and couldn't put it down. If you're near or want something to try, put on your eating pants and give this place a try. read more
Great place! Probably the best boiled shrimp I've ever had - perfectly seasoned. Holly Beach Slammer (oyster variety) was awesome. Everything else we tried was great as well, with the exception of the gator tacos that were just ok. We'll be back! read more

Food: 100 Service: 100 Cleanliness: 100 Ambiance: 100 Price: - Super reasonable, worth every cent We sat at the bar and had a wonderful experience 1/2dz oysters were THE BEST oysters I've had in a long time! BF had the PO Boy and eat every last bit of it. I took a bite and it was warm, perfectly crisp & melted together and oh so flavorful. Crawfish were full of flavor and amazing size with perfect spice Drinks were stout and delicious! Overall a great experience and highly recommend you stop in for a bite if you're in the area. read more
There was a parade today near our home, so we decided to take the opportunity to try Uncle T's. Large parking area, and really like the ambiance inside which was live and vibrant. We were quickly able to get a table, and our wonderful server soon followed, we started with the appetizer's which were a dozen oysters that were freshly shucked and the lemon and horseradish went perfectly, the outside could have been cleaned more as it transferred to the inside making a touch gritty, however you got the full flavor of the oysters, the boudin egg rolls was a big hit, well balanced and the pepper jelly put this over the top, it was hot and fresh, and the portion came close to being a meal by itself. The main course was a po boy which had grilled shrimp and roast beef, now this was true perfection and very filling, also the seafood combo, the shrimp fried perfectly along with the fish, and waffle fries. This is definitely food done right, with great customer service. read more

Southern food and Oyster Bar that delivers on the promise oysters. Truly haven't had some of the flavor combos that they serve on grilled oysters, and they were all fantastic. The poboy selection also has some entries that I've never thought about before, but everyone swears that they are amazing as well. Menu is rounded out with some other sandwiches, salads, and wraps if you're looking to balance out some of the fried foods. Greeted warmly and sat quickly during a a busy weekday lunch rush, and the servers were all very helpful. There are TV's all around if any LSU games comes on a I bet this place is hoppin'. Plenty of parking for all the trucks around back. read more

We're always looking for something off the beaten path when traveling between AL and TX and Unc. T's was a great find and we may just have to stop in again on the next trip. We arrived around 1:15 on a Friday afternoon and the place was still busy for lunch, definitely a good sign. We ordered the boudain egg roll because they were unusual and I just had to try them and hubs also got the oyster slammer. The egg rolls were delish and somehow light and crisp being perfectly deep fried yet not greasy at all; they are served with a sweet "sauce" that's basically warmed jalapeño jam. They're good dunked in the sauce but I preferred them doused with a little hot sauce. Hubs and I split a whole fish poboy. Their fries are the waffle variety to which I'm not a huge fan so we got onion rings instead. The poboys were spot on. Our waitress let us know the fish was catfish, but it had very mild and sweet flesh, plump, moist, and cooked to perfect doneness. The bread was the right kind (iykyk when it comes to the right or wrong poboy bread), and the onions rings were thin shoestring cut, lightly crispy, not oily at all and perfectly seasoned. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and on this day the weather was gorgeous and the outdoor dining area was being enjoyed. Indoors there is ample seating and large garage style doors opening the main dining room up adding to the "neighborhood-pub" atmosphere. If I lived in this neighborhood I'd be here every day... such a great local, tucked-away vibe. read more

Sit on the porch! Great atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop when driving to New Orleans. This is the best seafood! Do not miss the chargrilled oysters, they are the best I've had outside of New Orleans. Wonderful Boudin balls, awesome Poboys. Fried shrimp was incredible and the service was outstanding. The place is amazing on the inside. I loved the decor. The service was excellent. The Uncle T's spicy hot sauce was so good that I bought a bottle. The boodin balls were huge and delicious. The only bad thing was the chargrilled oysters. I have eaten them all over, so I expected them to be really good here. They were not. One was burned so bad to the shell that I couldn't even it and about half of them were undercooked or almost raw. I don't mind eating raw oysters, but seriously, I have shucked and grilled my own oysters numerous times - how does this happen at an Oyster bar. I digress. For that reason, this place barely gets four stars. I would NOT order the Nola Chargrilled Oysters again. read more

Was a nice day out, we sat outside. I'd was visiting from out of town so we got a bit of everything. Everything thing was good, except the Cesar salad. I would get that again. We order too much food and had a bunch of leftovers, large portions. read more
Incredible food! Worth the drive from St. Martinville. Place was packed, and understandably so. We had a heaping seafood platter, so much so that we took home FOUR to go plates! One seafood platter could easily feed 2-3 people! The mojitos were wonderful. Service was great. Can't wait to go back! read more
