Heard about the farm through Facebook. It's officially closed to the public because of the pandemic…read more( August 2020 ) but they are still accepting volunteers. The website is clear and complete about the animals at the farm. 300 + animals! Holy Cow. We decided to volunteer one morning from 8:30am - 11:30am. What an experience. We were assigned to dump old water, clean out the buckets and pools, and refill them all. For 200 pigs. Wow. Most of the pigs would walk up to you and were curious. Most of them you could pet. None of them were aggressive or scary. The farm is mainly sandy, you definitely need a good pair of rubber boots. Sometimes it's wet, sometimes there is poop. Put bug spray and sunscreen on. We watched the caretaker feed the pigs. That was a site in itself! Then we helped pick up poop in the cow/horse/donkey enclosure. I have to say, it was a great experience. Josh, the caretaker took the time to answer numerous question about all of the animals. Sign up online to give a little time. The could use your help!

It comprises of a farm with goats and llamas (goats you can pet, llamas you can view from a distance). There's also peacocks and roosters that roam free. There's also a friendly dog and cat around too. Like cars? There are two beautiful 1930s-era cars in the garage! There are also two shops- one is the soap factory that also sells herbs, and misc health products. The soaps come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are made with goat milk. I left with 3 of them, and will be giving some away as gifts! Next door is the antique shop that also sells ice cream and jams. Upstairs is an AMAZING model train setup, the attention to detail is incredible! 13 years in the making and I'm not surprised. The owners also let club members bring their own trains to put on the track as well. Additionally, there's a train that runs through the farm but it wasn't while we were there. $2.75 per person for the train. If you haven't been, I highly recommend stopping by! Sylvan Farm and Market!!!!!! This S.C. Certified Roadside Market is AMAZING! No matter where you live it is worth the trip! The staff is friendly and accomodating! They have fantastic farm fresh food! Excellent Sunday Brunch complete with hot fresh waffles delivered to your table and Mimosa's made with Prosecco! There are fresh cakes in the dessert cooler! There are Peacocks, Highland cows in the pasture and all kinds of other animals to enjoy! Looking for an amazing get-away???…read more 2nd stay at The Farm and shocked at what all has changed in just a couple of months. Landscaping, new trees, a small garden and a brand new driveway! When I say they thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable , I Mean everything . The historic charm of Aiken is carried throughout the home with an updated style sure to make every visitors stay feel like a retreat! When we arrived, we were greeted with a huge hello and smile by the host and given a tour of the home. I already felt at home ! The tour lead us through the beautifully decorated living rooms to the bed rooms that were filled with everything from snacks to cold drinks in the fridge to a Nespresso machine. The immaculate bathrooms have every amenity you could possibly think of with a five star hotel feel. Best of the best of everything from the hand soap to the professional grade blow dryer . Oh and if you are a TV watcher, no worries. Each room has a large TV! As the tour continued to the rear of the home, we walked past a "reading nook or meditation room " and through the "workout room" which opens up to a beautiful back porch that overlooks a beautiful in ground swimming pool . The deck is huge with a lot of comfortable seating and table top fire pit. This is where we enjoyed the "charcuterie and wine hour "after we enjoyed a polar plunge in the salt water pool. In the morning we enjoyed a Delicious gourmet breakfast prepared by the chef, our host! While over filling our bellies we enjoyed the tunes coming from the record player that was turning old vinyls ! There is so much more I could say but I'll leave it with The attention to detail is unmatched! There is something for everyone here . When our stay was over we left with a gift from the host and her precious sidekick Georgia Bean who gave us a little farewell bark! Thank you for your Southern Hospitality. It was a wonderful weekend ! We can't wait for our next visit !
