We went to the fabulous yummy Lakota Monday night 7-13-2015, and it has recently opened its doors for the restaurant business as it was previously just catering. It is on Rte 41, and we came from Pittsfield, so we took Rte 20 and made a left on Rte 41 (past 295) and it was a couple of miles past 295 on the left. It is in the bottom of a grayish looking building.
Because it was new, there were only a few patrons there as word has not gotten out about this gem! It is very tiny, and run by a family, that does fresh good cooking, and wonderful smoked BBQ. You can see their smokers and cookers outdoors as they even bring them on the road for catering on site.
We went there before going over to MacHayden and they were able to get our food out quickly, and it was DELICIOUS!! I got a pulled pork parfait and it had corn bread, baked beans, pulled pork, cole slaw layered in a glass with a baby tomato as the top, and it was excellent. I also got their potato salad, and they put fresh peas in it, and I don't like peas, but I loved this potato salad. My friend had the onion dips and BBQ chicken and it was a lot so she brought it home, and it was still great the next day. We also took home some corn bread for the next day too, and it was great!!!
We met the son of the owner, who cooked our meals and is a great chef (also works at Jiminy Peak), and while he was cooking all by himself, we got excellent food and service too!! I highly recommend Lakota, and it is wonderful to see a family run business do such excellent work. I hope the community can support them, as I would love to go there regularly and hope they stay in business! Besides I want another BarBQ parfait!! DELICIOUS!!!
Including a generous tip, it was $20 for the two of us, a spectacular value! read more
