Great food and awesome people! Have been going to Carlitos for quite awhile now and have never been disappointed.

Let me first start this review by saying that came at lunchtime primetime at 12:30 and the parking lot was full. This is a popular location in the small town of BurkeBurnett.. The restaurant is a little bit, faded and worn the signage around the building as well as the trash receptacle definitely needs a little bit of revitalization. When you enter in the door, we were greeted immediately and seated right away. The waitress was exceptional as far as being attentive to the table, making sure the drinks were refilled, and even asked if I wanted an extra basket of chips before the food was served. The decor is bright and colorful, but it is a very small dining area with a small bar. They had quite a bit of cocktail mixed drink, and beer offerings. I opted for a iced tea with lemon.. I ordered the sample platter so I was able to get a taste of a few different items. It arrived very shortly after it was ordered. I did include a picture when it was first put in front. It seemed very appetizing, but unfortunately, at least for my taste the chicken taco I ordered was a hard shell and ample filled with ingredients, but the chicken was canned and had that metallic canned taste.. The second item was the cheese enchilada and I ordered the green sauce. The green sauce was very flavorful salted just right and had a nice kick to it. But the cheese inside the enchilada was not melted so unfortunately, every bite the cheese was laying inside there just as it was placed and not melted together. The pork tamale that came with the sample plate was very small in size it did have ample filling in it, but it was extremely heavily seasoned. Definitely had that Tex-Mex flavor to it on a scale of one to 10 I would rate it probably 3 1/2. The reason for that is just it was a very overwhelming seasoning taste. You couldn't really taste the MASA or the filling individually. The beans were ranchero style with whole beans and some other spices. Very similar though to what you would get out of a can. They did not have refried beans that I was aware of. The rice was light and flavorful.. overall I would definitely say I would not have chicken from the can at this restaurant unless that something that you enjoy. The chips and salsa were actually very good. The chips were corn and crunchy and had lots of nooks and crannies so to hold your sauce. The salsa had lots of garlic in it and a nice not overly salted seasoning definitely one of the bright spots of this lunch. The service was outstanding. And there is a very good size menu, including some American food offerings which should lend me to come back and try the spot again maybe something different would strike a cord with me. But for now, I'm gonna leave this at a three star rating.. one word of warning they do have a 3 1/2% convenience fee for using a credit card. If you show up with cash then maybe the 3 1/2% won't be a surprise for you. I was unaware and it did add quite a bit to the Bill. they do offer a 10% discount for military. read more

Best Mexican food in Burkburnett. When I visit this town, we always order take out from Carlitos. One of my favorite menu item is their Mexican stir fry. I've never had anything that I didn't like. read more

Love the food and the drive thru! I can order ahead and grab it to go and get back to work. They are crazy fast and I've never met anyone having a bad day yet :) Eaten inside and to-go, even had a staff meeting or two there. No complaints here. read more

I'll need you to focus here... FOCUS ON THE FOOD. It's not a posh or glamorous restaurant - but - it - is - GOOD! This is a very simple and unassuming location in the heart of Burkburnett. We were immediately attended to and seated. Our waitress was quick to take our drink order and then our food order. The wait was not long before our food arrived and the amount of food was astonishing! Our drinks and chips never were left without being topped off. And the prices... GOODNESS!!! So reasonable! A recent relocation to Sheppard Air Force Base had myself and my family stopping here on our first full day in the Wichita Falls area and we were looking for some really good local Mexican cuisine. I highly recommend that everyone in this area must try Carlitos, it is authentic Mexican, with some of the best service and weight stuff that I have seen in a restaurant in years. They serve bottomless chips with delicious homemade salsa, I ordered an extra side of queso which was piping hot and a huge portion. I'm yours were massive and we were only there ordering lunch. We were super impressed with how clean the restaurant was how great the weed stuff was and how delicious the food was. We could not stop eating. we were given this place as a recommendation from another friend now we know wife we will also be passing the good word and recommendation to others. read more

$26.30 (or $25.42... Or $25.18... See below) --- Carlos Plate (three beef enchiladas, two beef hard tacos, beans&rice)... --- Create your own with one chicken enchilada, 1 beef enchilada, beans and rice... --- Chips & Salsa... The good: --- The salsa is very good, more on the watery side for you texture people, but definitely delicious... --- The enchiladas were very good and made exactly how we order them (multiple types of sauce on them)... --- The beans and rice were really good as well... This was a to-go order... The bad: --- We ordered online, the price it gave us was $25.18... When I got to the store to pay, the girl told me $25.42... When she handed me back the receipt, my order was $26.30... I don't know what happened between the online order and the drive-thru window, but from the drive-thru window to me swiping my card I did notice... They charge a fee if you use a card instead of cash... Now, while I understand that some of the smaller businesses do that, it would be much less cringy if they would do like some other small businesses I've seen and have the card price as the price that shows, and then "surprise" patrons that use cash with a cash discount... It feels a lot less like trickery that way instead of being told one price and paying another, even if the difference is fairly small, it's still tacky and more about the principal than anything, and don't assume someone has more money in my card than what you initially tell them... --- The salsa is good, but they could give more than that little cup or more than one when you order multiple meals... The food was the star here... It was good and overall gets a good score... Please consider the price advice in the future when the prices for your food change again... read more

If you are into pace picante sauce and velveeta cheese dip then this is the place for you. The salsa they bring with the chips has more salt than a McDonalds french fry. Honestly it was the worst "Mexican food" I've had in a long time. I recommend going to Taco Bell instead. My food had zero flavor unless you count the chili relleno tasting like spaghetti sauce and no cheese in the pepper. There were three other tables and service was nonexistent with five waitresses, two people in the kitchen, and a bartender you would think they would be more attentive. The floors look extremely dirty and I'm hoping it's not a glimpse into the filth that may be the kitchen. read more

This has become a weekly stop for us, and we always leave smiling. The food is great, as are the wait staff. They remember your preferences from previous visits, and if you are lucky enough to get Roseia, you will find her cheerful disposition is quite contagious. We stopped here on our way back from Wichita Falls for dinner. Its a cute little locally owned restaurant. Its clean and the employees are friendly, but my goodness service is slow! Even with it hardly packed on a Friday night. But the food and drinks are on point! Got the Monterey chicken and the tamales platter! And it came out fresh, hot and juicy. Drinks were cold and refreshing and I can understand why its 2 per person because theyre huge! And the guacamole is so tasty! If youre ever in the area. I wish I could say that I loved this place, especially with it being such a fun hole-in-wall to the side of a battered road in West Texas. However, while service, facilities, and the people I came with were juuust right, the food was nothing memorable. Queso: Very bland, quite runny, oddly-plastic tasting. I'll admit I ate a lot of it because I was so hungry, but something wasn't right. Guacamole: Good size, but again, very bland. I don't know if they add any lime or salt to their mix, but if so, they need to up the measurements. Mexican Chicken Salad: After having Tex Mex/Mexican cuisine four times in the past two or three days, I opted for the lighter side of the lunch menu. For a great price of $5.99, I was served a platter heaped with iceberg lettuce, grilled chicken, bell peppers, shredded cheese, and guacamole. Unfortunately, like everything else I had, it lacked flavor. No dressing discernable; not even the grilled chicken could lend any flavor to the rest of the dish. read more

The food is AMAZING. Never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. Been going to this location for many, many years. Always a good experience until tonight. That's why only 3 stars and that's generous regarding the service. There's a server there, we know her name but won't say anything here. She's waited on us 3 times, one of those tonight. The other two times, she acted like she could be anywhere else and treated us like we were a bother. We thought it was us, but she treated the table next to us tonight the same way. Both times, we left very little for the tip. We've lucked out and didn't have her as a server for a long time. Tonight our luck ran out. She sat us and took our drink order. When she came back with our drinks, my husband asked for a large queso. I should say that the complimentary basket of chips and salsa never made it to our table at this point. She comes back with ONLY the bowl of queso, sits it on the table and walks away. We sat there for 5-10 more minutes before she came back to take our order which at that time we asked for chips and salsa. WE HAD TO ASK FOR CHIPS AND SALSA AFTER SHE JUST BROUGHT US A LONE BOWL OF QUESO!!!!! Come the eff on! She was running around refilling salsa and serving others but didn't think to bring chips with the queso? I found out she's family, so saying anything to the owners will not do any good. Apparently, she's a shift leader as well. If you choose to dine here, done sit in the section that belongs to the lady with perpetual resting bitch face. It will be a long while before we go back. Going to try the other locations in the meantime. read more

The food quality has declined drastically over the years. The margaritas are not at all delicious like they used to be. I used to bring my family and friends here all the time. However, I have been making the drive to Wichita Falls to satisfy my tex mex cravings for a while now. I have visited a few times sporadically to see if things have improved but they haven't. I'm not sure what the change was but I hope the owners look into it and make some changes, especially with the margaritas; I almost can't stand to drink even one. It's so sour and tarty. I was looking for some Tex Mex in Burkburnett, and happened upon Carlitos. I was greeted and seated promptly, advised of all the lunch specials, of which I chose the Chile Relleno plate. Every thing was very good, the Chile was cheese stuffed, I would have preferred a hotter chile, but they had fresh Pico de Gallo that was loaded with jalepenos. I like the charro beans they serve rather than refried. Overall...a very good experience. Reasonable price as well. read more

We sat on the patio and the flies were awful. It's unfortunate because it was a really nice day but they were relentless. I would say the food was above average. Try the flautas. They are the right amount of crispiness with flavorful chicken inside. Just don't sit outside or prepare to take a bit and fight the flies. read more

I have been coming to Carlitos for nearly 10 years, and I have to say their fajitas are wonderful. It I were just to rate them on that, they would receive 10 stars or more. Yet, the service leaves much to be desired at times. It can be both very slow, and often they take a drink order, but won't return for the main order. Several years back they had a lead waitress that could only be described as rude and obnoxious. My husband asked for a "to go" cup and a refill of coke, and she just rolled her eyes at him and didn't want to be bothered. We were not bothered with leaving her a tip either. On the way out, she even made snide remarks at us to a coworker which were just loud enough to be overheard. read more

The building itself was decorated beautifully and the staff was so friendly. I had beef fajita chimichangas (comes with two med sizes chimis), rice and beans. I ordered a chili relleno as a side. The chimis had huge pieces of steak that may have been wood fired) - they were good but smothered in a yellow cheese sauce. They should have been fried longer; they were barely crispy but tasted good and we're not greasy. Relleno was perfectly done beans were whole southwest style and were excellent. Salsa was very heavy with cilantro (if you like that stuff) Overall good, I would consider coming back but would have them fry the chips, chimis, and relleno a bit longer. read more

I have been coming here for years. The pandemic has really hurt the quality here. If you order takeout from the drive thru, always check it. Twice, the same waitress has subbed chicken for beef on my order, and we raise chickens, so never order it for takeout. This never used to happen. I asked for extra lettuce on my taco salad and I swear to God it was less. They have some great dishes, but that one lousy new (pregnant? Maybe) waitress keeps me to once a month instead of once a week. It is ringing up beef, so the cooks also could be at fault just not reading the orders. The inside is so dirty, I only ever do drive thru. Great chips and salsa. Best carne guisada around here. The fajitas pretty much suck, though. read more

Usually if we want a nice sit-down meal we have to drive to Wichita Falls, unless we want great Mexican food. Then, we stay in Burk and eat at Carlito's. They have the best salsa in the biz and entrees are always hot with generous portions. I can't speak for the more exotic dishes but tacos, burritos, enchiladas and chalupas are delightful. I live in Wichita Falls Texas and I'll drive out to burk just to get Carlitos. It's my favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at. The Service is always so nice and helpful, they treat me like family. The food is so delicious. My favorite dish is the Carlos plate. Highly recommend if you're passing through or just looking for a local business to support.
