It is a converted double wide trailer and has a nice "homey" feel. Girl behind counter seemed shy and I had to ask her if we order there or sit down to order. Once we sat, we saw one other table of 4 people inside. It took 15 minutes for her to come out with salsa and chips and then she took our drink order. Sweet tea was good and topo chico was available. We ordered chicken fajitas, beef fajitas and chicken enchiladas. Their saving grace were the crispy chips and fresh salsa. Every time the door at entrance opened there is a VERY loud, startling beeping sound. It took over 45 min to get our food. Unfortunately, portions were lunch size and food was bland. Our server was confused and served the chicken fajitas stating they were steak. She brought out one plate at a time with 10 min in between each plate so everything was lukewarm warm by the time we finally got tortillas at the very end. All the staff seemed distracted by the rain storm. The tv inside the restaurant had "Bluey" cartoon on. I would not recommend this place unless you want to wait an hour and prefer bland Mexican food and a very casual atmosphere. We had to walk up to get our check. Very disappointed because other people's reviews sound very positive but unfortunately we did not have that experience today. read more

This place was about 1/4 of a mile north of the exit and we were so glad to get off the beaten path to eat here. It did not disappoint. I am not even sure how many bowls of salsa my family went through because it was perfect; not spicy at all. That's how we personally like it, but they also offered a hot version and a salsa verde. We driving to Dallas and decided to pull off in the middle of nowhere to eat som Authentic Mexican cuisine. Generous portions, very reasonable prices, and attentive service by sincerely nice people. This was my first time coming here (but not the last) the home made brisket soup was absolutely fantastic. This place been here 18years! I love hole in the wall places! Driving up it's scary looking and an average person would just turn around and leave!! The homemade tortillas are amazing!!! The goat tacos was Amazing!! Lived in Virginia for some years (they had more pureto rican, cuban, other latin food) but on my way back I had an itch for some menudo. Best menudo I have had in a long time. This place was one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at. The chips and salsa were so good. I ate like 3 baskets full and could've eaten them for the rest of my life. You have to be going here because it off I-30 about one half a mile. Service is great and the food is hot and tastie. Very authentic picked it based on Yelp and it was a good decision. Start out with only a small amount of the salsa because they are hot. The place does not look too inviting outside but it is worth coming on in. Plenty of seating and parking is no issue. read more

A local to Mount Pleasant mentioned Lala's as being different and the best Mexican food in the area. They were not wrong! Lala's food is more authentic Mexican and less Tex-Mex. I felt like I was eating in a small village in Mexico. Great quality on food, personal service, and good prices. Tried the Birria De Res which is beef brisket "soup" that comes with tortillas, cilantro, limes, onions, and a couple of sauces. I like spicy (usually 4 of 5 at Asian places), but beware the red sauce will light you up. The green was milder and very enjoyable. Chips were lame, but the salsa I could have eaten with a spoon. During a trip from Tennessee back to Austin TX, I found this place through Yelp and decided to stop. As other reviews have said, the location and appearance made me second guess myself. BUT not all good food comes in a perfect spot and is brand new looking...however, the food was legit! Homemade flour and corn tortillas YUM This food tastes like you stopped by your Mexican best friends house and their mom just finished cooking dinner...that's how homestyle it is. Fresh cooked refried beans that still had some beans in it, not puréed, simple classic Spanish rice and some delicious meat in those homemade tortillas. My 14 yr old son got the 5 taco plate with brisket and ate all but 1/2 of one. My 11 yr old daughter got the 3 taco plate with rice and beans (so did I) and her plate was empty! And I tried my best to finish it all, but got full and didn't finish the last little bit. My husband got the soup and said it was good. And for $7-$8 a plate...win! If you want home cooked styled Mexican food at a great price and served by a friendly young lady, this will be it! read more

Just off I-30 outside of Mt. Pleasant is small house that serves as a restaurant. It is not visible from the highway. That is a shame. The food is much more local Mexican as opposed to Tex-Mex. We ordered enchiladas. These are not the norm. Rather, we received rolled tortillas filled with cheese and skirt steak on the side. Very nice with good flavors. We will be back. 4 stars for the fly that attacked us throughout our meal and rather slow, but friendly, service. Try this delightful place with an open mind. read more
