We had to get up and get napkins, get up and ask for more tea, get up and get a to-go box before we paid out, so what service were we tipping for exactly? We told the cashier that one of our to go meals still didn't have the sides listed on the menu even though we asked for them and her response was "sorry about that." Zero care in the world. So I told her when it was my turn to pay out that maybe our waitress was having a bad day or something because I've never had worse service in my life. Again, it was "sorry about that." There was no language barrier with her, she completely understood the problem. I wonder how many times a day she says "sorry about that." It's the first time in my life I didn't tip.
