I've been getting massages for over 40 years, and I was really looking forward to a foot soak and massage at LaLumiere after reading the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible for the following reasons: 1. On the page under "Massage Enhancements - Epsom Foot Soak" the business promises an Epsom Foot Soak for new clients to enjoy while they fill out paperwork. I arrived 15m before my appointment and asked about the foot soak. The receptionist was not at the desk, so the question was posed to a massage therapist who showed up and said that the receptionist was preparing it. I was given paperwork to fill out which I did without the aforementioned foot soak. 2. When I was shown to the massage room, the foot bath was there, and I asked whether the 15m foot soak would be counted as part of my massage. The therapist, Anita, left the room for 10m (part of my massage time now) and came back to say that the foot soak would not be offered. Instead she said she would add on a paraffin treatment for my hands and feet. 3. The actual "deep tissue" massage was a lot of petting and short superficial strokes. She did identify and dig in deeper to sore glut muscles which helped relieve some tension, but it was not the deep tissue massage I had expected, and she did not address my primary concern (bursitis). 4. She ended the massage after 50 minutes (minus the time she left the room). 5. She never followed through with the promise of a paraffin treatment. Even though I was offered a discount, I left more stressed than I arrived. This is not the way to treat anyone. Never promise something you can't deliver. read more

Hands down one of the best massage experiences I've had, ever. From the sweet and helpful service when scheduling, to the day before reminder calls, to the warm welcome when you arrive, you enter a place where you can leave whatever is bothering you behind. I start relaxing by perusing and sampling the nice array of aromatherapy oils you have to choose from. (Lavender sandlewood is a favorite.) I turn down the wine service they offer, in favor of water or tea. I've seen Max now a few times, and he's great. Gets down to business, not too light, not too deep, comfortable working in quiet, responsive to requests and has a great energy to create and hold a space where you can just relax and let him do all the work. Whether I just need to relax and recenter, or if I'm coming in with certain complaints, I always leave in a much better state than I arrived, and the benefits don't usually fully roll around until the next day. And two words: HOT STONES. Yes, please!! Part of the regular service (not an add-on like at some places). The blankets on the tables are so soft and heavy, the bedding is in nice shape (so many places keep them until the are pilly, scratchy messes) and the environment is super serene and relaxing. Absolutely fantastic. This was my first time here and I greatly appreciated the massage I received from Ashley. I was 8 minutes late because I managed to get lost and had to call them for help. Danielle was very nice and directed me to the right location. Just FYI, they are in a tower building but face the alley. I figured my hour massage would be cut short due to my lateness, but it wasn't and that made me very happy. They have a table of wonderful oils to choose from and offer hot stones as well. Ashley even realized it was my birthday! She was very professional and listened to me when I explained I wanted a therapeutic type massage with focus in my upper shoulders. Absolutely fantastic in every category. Salon was super clean, highly professional, well qualified and very nice. I highly recommend the 90 minute session if you are overdue for a massage. 60 would not have been enough. Parking is convenient as they have a parking lot. Decor is French and classy. I just had my first experience here. Josh did an amazing job with my 60 min therapeutic massage. I should've done 90 minutes. Staff was really helpful as Google Maps had terrible getting me to the front door (which is down an alley). They were graceful about my tardiness, and made the appointment work. My first experience here was a couples massage treatment package. It started off with wine in the lobby, which is always a nice touch on a day of relaxation! They provided us with a dessert from a nearby bakery and an amazing foot soak along with foot and calf massage.. Both my husband and I were in heaven. The massage did not disappoint, I'm spacing in names but my treatment was done by the male masseuse and my husbands was the owner. They used hot stones which neither of us had ever had and they were amazing! We enjoyed it so much we booked an appointment for my parents when they came to town- my mother never really enjoyed massage before and she loved he experience! Maybe she just hadn't gone to a good place before :-) We have since gone back for 2 individual massages and it's always a great experience, the place is lovely and the staff are all wonderful! This is a very peaceful and relaxing spa. My husband and I came here to have a couples massage. They started out with a foot soak and sugar scrub while we drank wine and ate a delicious chocolate cake. They then took us to the couples massage room which was peaceful and even smelled good. They let us each choose the essential oils we wanted to use. They were great about asking us if the pressure was too much or too little and making sure we were okay with the temperature of the room, the beds and the hot stones. I highly recommend Lalumiere. I received a massage from Nick. It was amazing! i had such a achy back from my stressful life. I could tell he is educated and experienced by evidence of longer longer having a painful back. He's manage to massage most of my sore spots in one session. It's definitely worth incorporating this as part of self care. The staff is wonderful as well, they know how to provide great customer service. The receptionist is very kind, attentive, and has a sincere smile the moment you walk in. I was offered a complimentary glass of wine, then option to choose my own fragrance oil for the massage. I am sad to be writing this review after four years of relying on La Lumiere for excellent massages. The short of it is that they are using unvaccinated therapists, who brag about their unvaccinated status DURING the massage. After that happened to me, I called and the receptionist was very gracious, apologized, and said that the company is pro-vaccination and that she'll put a note in my file to use vaccinated therapists. (I am over 60 with underlying conditions, so a breakthrough infection would be more dangerous for me than for many others.) A few days later, I wrote back to request an appointment on a Saturday with a vaccinated therapist. I received back a shockingly rude email--not from the receptionist who had been so kind to me. This person said, "We have unvaccinated therapists because that's all we can find. If you know where we can find some vaccinated therapists, you're welcome to let us know." I couldn't believe I had just received such a snide remark from a company I'd loyally patronized and recommended to others for four years. The email also said if I want a vaccinated therapist on a Saturday, I will have to wait five months. I realize things are tight right now, but the rude attitude in this person's email, and their disinterest in retaining my business, was shocking and upsetting. This isn't how I expected to be treated by a business that had done so much to help me maintain my physical and mental health. I hope they will reconsider how they treat their customers in the future. (I've found a vaccinated therapist who can see me next month, and I'll be moving on.) read more

The massage was pretty weak. Did not feel relaxed or that any muscle tension was relieved. I only went here because my insurance covered it, but after billing insurance, I still had to pay a lot out of pocket because they bill more to your insurance company than the listed price. read more

So looking at the reviews for this place i decided to book with them. I sent them an email to check availability & they were quick to respond. Got it booked for a 90 min session. When I arrived, I was asked to fill the new customer form with areas to be focused on. After the massage, i observed that it was overall for around 60-70 mins. Also the masseuse focused only on one of the areas ( i specifically mentioned to have focus on back & the legs along with overall body for relaxation in the form & told the masseuse before starting). Based on this experience, i can say i have had a lot better experiences. read more

I highly recommend this place. I don't usually get massages at all. I don't really care for massages but I felt like I should have a day to relax. I got scheduled a same day appointment while working with Jennifer via email and also on the phone. She has amazing customer service. She's an employee that needs a kudos for being so sincere and a hard worker. If management reads this, I hope you truly enjoy Jennifer's work ethic. She made a great impression and helped me out tremendously. For my appointment today I showed up and drank a glass of wine. I had the option of a few different non alcoholic beverages or white and red wine. I chose the wine of course. I got scheduled a massage with Cloe. This was a 90 minute Swedish massage. This massage included hot stone and was truly amazing. I've never had a massage like this ever. Cloe really did the most amazing and beautiful massage I could have ever experienced. She was such a sweetheart also! I'd highly recommend a massage by her. She has great communication with her clients. Again, management, please kudos Cloe. She deserves full recognition for powering through my 90 minute massage while still providing such a comfortable and relaxing environment. If it's your first time looking to get a massage and just are not sure if you really want to get one, seriously look no further. I can 100% say you'll come back to this place. McKenzie was my therapist - she did an outstanding job and offered a hot stone massage for no extra charge. While I have had many many messages, I have never had the hot stones - highly recommend. La Lumiere is a fantastic place for a great massage. My husband and I went for Valentine's Day this year and enjoyed a couples massage with the offer of champagne/wine (we don't drink) but absolutely enjoyed the cupcakes brought over from Sugar Sugar next door. I have since become a regular of Brian's. The massage is professional, relaxing, stress relieving and the service is top notch!
