4 of us went to Lamalfa's Thanksgiving Day dinner at $50.00 per person. We could have fed all 4 of us better at McDonalds for $50.00. Food was anywhere from warm to cool (no heaters on any of the dishes), they had a band that was playing the type of music you would expect at a wedding, none of the food was labeled and you couldn't tell most of it apart, children playing in the aisles between tables bumping into people and tables, coffee ($2.00) and pop ($3.00) were not included in the price of the tickets and had to be purchased seperately. We got there at 1:30 pm (it ran from 11:00am to 4:00pm) and they were already running out of deserts. Avoid this place and go to Bob Evans or someplace, don't waste your money here! read more

Martin LaMalfa and his team did an absolutely spectacular job for our daughter and son-in-law's wedding. Everything was top-notch. Martin and everyone from behind the scenes, to working the room, went above and beyond. The atmosphere was spectacular. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Thank you for making our daughter and son-in-law's visions come to life! People are still talking about the appetizer and dessert spread, and the meal in between. Well done. Friday night seafood buffet was magnificent. I can't find enough words to describe it. It easily matched or surpassed the fancy hotel/casino spreads you see in places such as Atlantic City or elsewhere. Sadly, it is seasonal, mainly for Lent and a little longer. The selection was extensive: three or four baked fish dishes, calamari made at least five different ways, hot and in cold salads, monster size cold shrimp with house sauce, four different cold salads with shrimp, two hot offerings with shrimp, not including the sauté station with over a dozen items. And not just seafood but a slicing table with steamship round of beef, turkey breast and a ham. Chicken wings and Parmesan, many pasta offerings both hot and cold, many vegetables, hot, cold, even fire roasted (yum!) A taco table, a "smashed" potato table with another dozen toppings. And so much more! The full bar had very reasonable prices and included selections for kids and non drinkers as well. The staff was attentive, polite and professional under the ever watchful eye of Mr. LaMalfa himself. Because of the way the owner tried to handle one comment in my previous review that he was not happy with, I'm now lowering my rating from three stars. No attempt was made to contact me directly to discuss the information in my previously written review. In my experience, the response was vindictive instead of proactive in solving an issue. I'm leaving the rest of my review unchanged as it was an honest review. I've been to many, many events at this facility. They are able to handle very large events and have an attached hotel. The lobby, banquet rooms and bathrooms have always been clean with current, more elegant style decor and in good repair. The food is always well presented but the quality is low for the pricing. It just always looks better than it tastes. Also, pretty much every event I've been to over the past several years has had the same predictable menu. This is a decent option for a large formal event in lake county, but it could use an update of the menu and food quality to make it worth the high prices. Unfortunately, there's no competition for this type of facility in the area and the owner takes advantage of it. read more

Our experience at LaMalfa Party & conference center - in a word - perfect! Held our Daughter's wedding and reception on 9/9/2023. From her ceremony in LaMalfa's chapel to the reception; the night was flawless. PLENTY of food - GOOD food! Superior service. The entire LaMalfa Staff was very courteous and prompt. The ballrooms were full (and should be!) - yet we still received personal service! I have been to several weddings at Lamalfa and they got it done right every time. Food is above par, generous portion sizes and served piping hot. The stuffed sole is amazing! The banquet rooms are updated and very elegant. Staff is impeccable. Of note, some bartenders are less experienced and may not know how to make some basic drinks. Valet parking is offered, I never took advantage of it. The Lamalfa family is on site and during dinner are visible and keep things going smoothly. From the first appointment to the reception itself, Marty and his team took care of us, answered every question, and made us feel comfortable. Not even sure where to begin... We were unable to postpone, due to the governors opening of the state. Dealing with Marty was very difficult. Many unanswered phone calls when we were trying to finalize the details. As her date approached, we would attempt several calls to iron out the details (menu, music, last payment, etc).. but it took weeks for him to respond. And when he did, he stated we are NOT to call him. Only via email can we communicate. This is no way to run a business, or even plan a wedding. Planning a wedding via email is impossible, and posed so many problems in communication. Their phone lines were disconnected! We often had to call the hotel to see if they were still in business. It was horrible. And stressful! He was very poor at responding! We even had trouble making our final payment, since he never would respond to emails or phone calls. Then, finally at the wedding day- Marty was showing off the venue while we were in the middle of the ceremony and reception! Totally unacceptable!!! We were celebrating her wedding, and there were "potential clients" given tours! Ridiculous! Our hall was set up wrong, sweetheart table (when we told him SEVERAL times we did not want that, and seating was a mess! We had our ceremony at LaMalfa, and after the ceremony ended, no one was given direction for cocktail hour. Guests were lingering and had no idea where to go for cocktail hour (we were never told during our planning phase, NO COMMUNICATION!!).. We had bridesmaids hunting for staff (which were hanging out in the office) to see where we needed our guests to go. SO unacceptable! Our wedding party opened up the doors to the hall, and proceeded to cocktail hour, with NO direction or help from the staff. We had guests looking for their seats, and several guests were being put at tables where there was no place settings. We provided the seating chart weeks before the wedding. We should not have had to approach Marty and his staff and ask for them to add seating to tables, while we were celebrating her wedding. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! They did set up the seats and place settings (during our reception, but that was so un-classy! and embarrassing when our guests had to wait for seats to be provided for them During our reception! And to top the icing on the cake, the staff DID NOT WEAR MASKS WHILE SERVING OUR MEALS, During a heightened pandemic, and increasing numbers, they proceeded to serve meals with NO GLOVES, and NO MASKS! Several guests approached them to ask them to put on masks and gloves, and were told repeatedly that "this is a private event and they do not have to". We had 10 guests LEAVE before the meals were even served because they did not feel safe! So upsetting for us and our daughter! That is completely unacceptable!!! During these times, and with state mandatory masks, I can't believe they were not willing to wear masks. UNSAFE and upsetting that our guests just up and left!! NO SANITIZATION STATIONS, NO COVID PRECAUTIONS! He sent us a list of precautions prior to our wedding date (back in August) to try to reassure us that proper measures were being taken, however, THEY DID NOT FOLLOW PROPER RULES MANDATED BY THE STATE. We quoted, verbatim on our invites so our guests would feel safe attending her wedding, and when we showed up to have staff serve without any masks or gloves, it was terribly embarrassing for us! As if that wasn't embarrassing or bad enough, the staff was cleaning up tables and taking down chairs and tables at 10 pm, when our wedding was going to 11 pm. An HOUR before our reception was even to end, they were stacking chairs! Seriously!!! It made our guest feel they needed to leave, early! Most guests left when they started stacking chairs! That was unacceptable! By time the reception was actually over, most of the chairs were stacked and we had no guests left! Our experience with LaMalfa was terrible. We expected so much more class from this owner and staff. SO many disappointing mistakes by LaMalfa. With spending so much money for this reception, we were left with complete disappointment in this venue. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. I am not sure what is going on with them. From lack of communication, his crappy attitude while we were planning the final details, his condescending attitude, lack of return phone calls (disconnected phone number) lack of response via emails, lack of direction from staff at the reception, him showing new customers tours while we were in our ceremony, mistakes at tables, lack of tables and chairs being set up correctly, and NO COVID PRECAUTIONS, no Masks on staff, cleaning up before the end of our paid time reception.. I can't even make this up.. Her wedding was beautiful but we had to deal with so many issues as they came up, constantly... Attended a wedding here and would not recommend it. There was only one bartender at the beginning and when other bartenders did arrive they were rude and did not know how to make the drink specials. There was no one behind the bar at intervals throughout the evening. Most of the appetizers were cold including cold chicken wings. Odd selection of appetizers such as potato salad. The food was below average certainly not worth the money they paid. The steak, chicken and potato were dry. We had no bread plates on our table. They were slow to clear the dirty plates from the table. They ran out of glasses and were serving drinks in plastic cups or coffee cups. 50% of the stalls in the bathroom had no toilet paper early in the evening unless you picked it up off the floor. Our Gyro Organization had a 3 day Conference with 70 attending a final Saturday night beautiful dinner. First the staff starting with Renee Cruz are very reactive, think way ahead of most planners and give first class results, making our event enjoyable for even the planners. Working with Marti Lamalfa is wonderful and I experienced effortless event enhancing decisions that were efficiently made without walls of objections to climb over like other convention choices give you. Without exception our group raved about the food quality, the beautiful event and meal room setups, and the staff. A huge benefit to a LAMALFA event, is the adjoining hotel with large suites instead of little hotel rooms. This is a group real WOW factor. A feature not to miss highlighting is the Lamalfa Happy Hour Hospitality area with great bartenders, hot snacks, and premium Liquor choices. This is a very high quality feature that provides guests a top end restaurant like area to relax, easy access to all parts of the complex and eliminates any reason to think you want to plan and staff your own separate hospitality room. First let me say I've attended many events at this establishment over the years. From giving blood, to dinners, luncheons and weddings. A couple events were exceptional, most good and some were average. Tonight put a new twist on things. I was asked not to review this place so I won't give a date or a name of the wedding party. But I wrote this draft some time ago and I can honestly say that it didn't take place in October. I'm honest with my reviews and people need to be aware of what they could run into at this establishment. The service and chapel were nice, but the guy who was handing out bulletins during the ceremony seemed a little over whelmed. Handing them out in the middle of the service?? Not giving everyone a bulletin?? Then handing out bubble bottles and again not handing out enough once again in the middle of the service?? He was a big distraction. No salad dressing at our table, that's ok. Hard to find someone to get us some, but once a server was told we got some right away. Apps were served and kept up with so that there were no empty dishes. But burnt chicken fingers were also served instead of thrown away. Dinner was good and so was the temperature of the food. Bartenders were good, but turned rude when the bar was closed. People don't know it's closed, don't be jerks about it! I was not drinking and you really ticked me off when I asked if it was too late, (11:17 pm), to get my wife a glass of wine. There was no reason to be rude. "I'm sorry we're closed" would have been appropriate. I regretted leaving two tips earlier. But next is the kicker! I caught you marrying liquor bottles! Multiple bottles! You're both very lucky I didn't shoot a video of you two marrying the bottles and post it here! You deserve to be reported to the liquor board. A bartender knows it's against the law and you guys did this in the open, (which tells me now management will have the bartenders do this behind closed doors). If your managers encourage this behavior, they're just as bad! You get 2 stars for interrupting the wedding twice, serving burnt food and illegal liquor practices. The alcohol was purchased by the wedding party because you charged $28 per guest. The state liquor laws apply to your establishment since you sold the alcohol. read more

I have been to LaMalfa Centre 2 times for an event. The food at the event was very good. The Open Bar at the event had 2 few beer and wine choices. The bartenders made strong mixed drinks and were friendly. The staff was friendly. The Venue is nice inside with soft carpet and decor. read more

Went to a reverse raffle and while the food was good, the OPEN bar was not, they had 2 bar tenders to service over 300 people which caused a 30-40 minute wait in line which was unacceptable. Let me preface this review by saying that it was my brother's wedding and I was a bridesmaid and it was fabulous! I might be a little biased. This giant party center connected to a hotel is beautiful. The decorations in the reception were amazing. The food was incredibly tasty, especially the appetizers and the desert table was just wow! That said I do have a few complaints. First, whats the rush? Why did the servers take away the food before I could even smell it. I did not just come their to stuff my face. I was dancing, drinking, and talking with guests. It was hard to find time to get back to the table and eat, but when I did get back to the table the food was long gone. The bartenders did not seem very educated on mixed drinks or they didn't have the supplies to make them. I'm not a big drinker and they did have lots of good hard liquor which pleased other guests so I guess that was okay. Our party was big and loud so I could not hear the party next door. In fact a few couples from next door came over to check our party because it sounded a lot better and probably was. LaMalfa also comped the honeymoon sweet for my brother and his wife. Oh and when the floor girls basket and ring bears pillow went missing, they provided a spare set. So nice! read more

Love this place! I have been to 3 separate events this month at La Malfa, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to host a get together! Eddie the chef does an amazing job! The food was superb and filled you to the top! Steve the host was amazing as well, took time to greet people and took time to make sure we were welcomed! To start: after the conclusion of my wedding & reception at LaMalfa, I would have probably have given 3 stars. Overall it was a good day, save some fairly minor issues. However, after the treatment and highly arrogant and rude response I received from Marty LaMalfa, I am dropping it to one star. I feel like I need to warn brides of certain things that you will experience at LaMalfa, that they probably won't tell you about (although their attention to detail in other aspects is stellar): -You know that beautiful wedding cake you spent a lot of time picking out and taste tasting? It's going to be cut and served to your guests in WAX PAPER. With no forks. LaMalfa defends this by saying guests have already had a dessert, and will want to take it home, but this certainly did not apply to most of my guests, who unwrapped the smashed cake and ate it with their fingers. Real classy. Oh, and be warned that if there are other receptions going on (there probably will be), that they only have one cake cutter and your cake could sit there awhile, while your guests just sit and wonder when it will be served. For the rest of my review, I'll just paste my email & Marty's responses. I will not be recommending this facility. No fault was admitted, nor was any sort of apology given. As I stated, the items were fairly minor but he was unwilling to concede anything, especially as it came to my NON-EXISTENT champagne service that we paid extra for. Rehearsal: There were no stairs at the front of the chapel, and were therefore unable to have a real "rehearsal" where our bridal party knew where to stand, and where to move to during the ceremony. When we asked Greg about the stairs, we were told it was set up for the wedding that was taking place before ours. I feel we should have been entitled to the set up that we were using, as we paid the chapel fee just like the other party. This lack of setup forced our minister to have a rushed second rehearsal with the groomsmen on Saturday, just before the ceremony started. [Martin LaMalfa] We at LaMalfa provides a one hr. rehearsal at no additional charge. In many cases we don't even provide the chapel itself we provide the facility. Nowhere in your contract says that we would provide the Chapel ready for your ceremony at the time of rehearsal. Post-Ceremony Photos: It was my understanding from all our meetings, timelines, etc. that we had one hour after the ceremony for photos. while our guests were going to be in the hall for the cocktail hour. Our ceremony ran on time, and we started photos at 5:30. However, at around 6:05 or 6:10, Marty came into the chapel, insisting it was time to get into the hall. When I stated we weren't finished and I thought we had one hour, he expressed that salads had already been served and it was time to go. We then rushed through the rest of our photos, and this upsets me as I was unable to get all the shots that I wanted.[Martin LaMalfa] I do recall entering the chapel (6:15 p.m.) according to your schedule that would give you and your bridal party just enough time to be past your schedule according to your contract[Martin LaMalfa] . If you recall I said that was fine do whatever you want. Cocktail Hour: Our guests report that there was no champagne service during cocktail hour. We had paid for two servers for 1.5 hours each, at our final meeting. I am requesting a full refund for the $60 charge.[Martin LaMalfa] I disagree we did have two girls serving champagne. Toasting Flutes: The engraved flutes I gave to you at our final meeting were not at our places at the head table when we sat down. I informed our ballroom captain, and several other staff, while dinner was being served. They were found after some time, but we didn't have them for the toasts or for dinner.[Martin LaMalfa] I certainly would agree withyou on this point I kept those flutes in my office so they would not get broken and loss . I believe this was a mistake done on my part because I did not inform the team. --[Martin LaMalfa] To be honest with you Jackie rather you like I have answers to your questions or not you still feel the way you do. We really try to do our best . Personally working with you on your plans and making myself available to you that night in my option goes past what is expected by LaMalfa I usually don't do all the plans with ours brides but in your case I did. My wedding was the first time that I had ever been to a wedding or any other function there. Marty, was incredible! He suggested ideas to me when I was lost for a vision. Jessica and Kyle in the office were even nicer! These 2 ladies answered every single question even if it was a repeated question and never made me feel like I wasn't important! Jessica, was even more incredible. I must have called or emailed her about 100 times asking to meet with her about table setting and linens and what not. She met with me every single time too! The day before my wedding I dropped off our favors and escort cards and such, they didn't hesitate to get someone to come out to the car with a cart to help us carry stuff in. The day of the wedding, I walked over to ask if there was any last minute things that they might need of me, and both Jessica and Kyle reassured me everything was good. WOW - I really don't know what to say. As a high End florist, I have worked with many special event venues and this one really takes the cake! First, they bullied the bride into a table cloth overlay color that she said she didn't want. I am quoting what the planner said to her. "Honey, I'll set it up theway I think it should be and you will like it'" Then when questioned, they argued with my staff and me. Also, the wedding cake fell and even after the staff was given the number to call the cake person, they failed to call for hours. When the cake lady arrived, the staff yelled and screamed at her insisting that she didn't know how to make a cake. It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Martin LaMalfa ruined my friend's wedding last weekend by turning the lights on and closing the bar with over an hour left due to a small issue. The groom talked to the ballroom captain and was working on fixing the problem, but he wasn't given any time before the lights were on and the bar closed. I would not recommend LaMalfa to have your event at as you pay a lot of money for events and they do not deliver on the quality they promise. Marty walked us step by step through the whole process and made it seem effortless. We were told time and time again that they have done this for so many years and that they have it down to a science. Well..... the planning portion of our experience sure put our worries to rest, because it definitely seemed like they knew what they were doing, however, when it came to the actual day of our wedding, this did not hold true. We had gotten to LaMalfa around 445pm and were supposed to be introduced at 630pm. We were told that they have a nice room for the bridal party to go in that had Hor-dourves and drinks and that when we got there to stop in the office and they would give us the lock code to get in. When I went to the office Matthew had no idea what I was talking about and said he would try to find Marty LaMalfa to find out where we needed to go. We never heard anything after that and the bridal party as well as myself and my husband had to stand in the lobby area as everyone was walking in. We stood in the lobby for 1 hour and 45 minutes. No drinks. No appetizers. Nowhere to sit. At 6pm, the DJ had come out to confirm introduction times because he said he was confused because hor-dourves had already been taken away and dessert table laid out. Our guests had only gotten about 1/2 hour worth of hor-dourves. Salads had been delivered to all the tables already. The DJ had to speed everything up because dinner was ready to be served and we hadn't gotten everything done yet. When Marty was asked about why the salads were served already we were told not to question him, he knows how it needs to be done. The bridal party table as well as the 2 VIP tables were supposed to get bottle service for the night (which we never received). No one came up to my husband and I to ask us if we needed anything or, including for drink orders. LaMalfa Is known for their wonderful food, especially their Fillet Mignon. The chicken and the sides were alright, however, the Filet was overcooked and dried out. Also, one of the VERY important restricted diet meals that we requested for two of our guests who are vegan were never given to them. They received the meat entrees just like everyone else. This is unacceptable. What is this was a food allergy???? Marty then came and grabbed my husband and I to cut our cake. There was no announcement by our DJ because I don't even think he knew it was happening. Marty was very rude and very short with us while cutting out cake. We didn't even get a moment to cut our cake together as Marty said, "Press the knife down. Okay now give me the knife" he cut the cake and put it on a plate and said okay you're done here. He was extremely rude and I was confused at the whole process. Overall, the ballroom looked nice, but comments from guests, said that the bartenders were rude, they were confused why the bridal party and bride and groom were waiting in the lobby area, and they were completely confused why salads came out before some guests even got to the reception. I had a few guests that said they got to the reception a little before 6 and had to run over as they were taking appetizers away to ask if they could grab a few. We had a small two tiered wedding cake that was chocolate and white. We then had two sheet cakes of casada cake. The casada cake was never cut and put out for guests. Our wedding cake was not cut either. The chocolate cake was given to us whole in a box when we left for the night(this was not the anniversary cake) and the white cake that was laid out at 1030pm was not even our white cake. It was from a different wedding as it wasn't even our cake flavoring (French vanilla). When I confronted the ballroom captain and asked why the casada wasn't laid out for guests I was told "oh, it was laid out first thing, and it all got taken very quickly". He then proceeded to give me 6 LARGE bags full of all casada cake! I am very disappointed that the experience we had with LaMalfa Center as we were promised so many things, and never received them. It is extremely disheartening to know the large amount of money you pay at LaMalfa and to not receive the things you are promised and to be treated poorly by staff as well as the owner himself. If it were within my power to give this business 0 stars, I would have. Mr. Lamalfa is a thief! My husband and I stayed at The Holiday Inn in Mentor, Ohio on November, 9th 2012. I had booked a room earlier that day and his employee Torey booked a different room (unbeknownst to us) when we checked in after 7 p.m. They charged us as a no show for the room that WE booked! I figured this was just an error and an honest mistake by an employee. HOWEVER, when I called to speak with a manager...I was told that no manager would be in until MONDAY November 12th. I called at 10 a.m. on November 12th to be told by a different employee that Deborah the manager would call me back shortly. FIVE hours later, I had to call back again to be told that she would call me back shortly AGAIN! I also spoke with Torey again at that time who explained to me that she made a mistake and it was going to be taken out of her paycheck!! I am not sure how I was supposed to respond to that. Eventually I did get the call from Deborah and I was told that she would have to speak with Mr. Lamalfa to find out if she could refund those charges because it was not within her authority to do so. She called back and told me that Mr. Lamalfa was not going to refund the charges. When I asked WHY?? She said his explanation was that "two reservations were made." No further explanation was given, and they were VERY aware that the mistake was made by THEIR staff. I had to take it up with corporate AND my bank!!!I I HIGHLY recommend that customers consider another alternative before staying here. Our entire family was looking forward to celebrate our Mother's 100th birthday at La Malfa. We all looked at this venue and all agreed (6siblings) thatthis is the place to make the event especial. We had over 160 guests that day. We were told at the time of the reception that there will be no microphone as promised because their sound system was not functoining but they will try to work on it. One hour passed, no one said anything-we were also told that lunch will be served at 12:30. All of the guests were in, there is no microphone to start with, so we started with the salad and they shorted us 20 plates(embarassing) -still no microphone but Marty tried and failed to fix it. So there goes the event. We have to shout at the top of our voice to give the message accross. Waiters & waitresses were not accomodating and refused to some of our requests. Hardly did they volunteered their services-not sure if they know what they are supposed to do. No one to reach to control the lights. we have to ask them to turn on the chandeliers for the event- this are all basics (if your are in this business) and yet it looks like here you go - do it on your own type of accomodation.. I would think twice or even 3 times to book another event at La Malfa. The place is nice, good food but bad service and could be very embarassing to your guests read more
