My father was in hospice care recently.   I decided to be proactive and reach out to the funeral home on behalf of my mother, to get an idea of what was available to fulfill my parents wishes.   My family had used Lambie Funeral Home 3 times prior for two of my great uncles and my grandmother.  The last time was about 10 years ago. After emailing them, I received a phone call from David Lambie to talk to me personally about what we were looking for (cremation,  memorial service,  live streaming,  death certificates,  social security and Medicare notifications, paperwork to fly the ashes internationally)and the costs.    David was kind and caring.  He took his time and explained the processes, step by step.     A week and a half later, my father passed away. I called David just after midnight.  He was there within half an hour to pick up my dad.      The next day, we met with David and worked out the obituary and the rest of the arrangements.   He listened to us, and he made thoughtful suggestions.  Over the next few days, he was patient and attentive as we edited the obituary   and memorial cards several times.  He added and edited our picture montage several times as well.  He was always patient, and kind and sympathetic. He and his lovely wife, Dana, recommended several restaurants for our post memorial reception.    On the day of the Celebration of Life he had someone in the parking lot upon our arrival, ready to help us bring in our pictures, photo albums,  and other props. From the moment we walked in the door, David was there and ready to help us set up our memory vignettes.  My dad had multiple businesses throughout his life and we set up stations that payed homage to his entrepreneurial endeavors.      David went above and beyond.  We had family across the country who were not able to fly in for the services. David started the live feed an hour early so our family members could watch the reception before the services and eulogies started.      The services and eulogies were heart warming and stirring.   At the end of everything,  we had so many people approach us and compliment us on the best funeral that they had ever attended.   I don't know about you,  but I've never been to a funeral that was such a stand out,  that I wanted to remark about it to the family.  We heard it over and over again.   This was all made possible by David & Dana Lambie.    When we were leaving,  David & Dana had everything ready for us.  They had a flash drive of the services, the guest book, the framed picture of my father from the memorial service, and the paperwork we would need to transport the ashes internationally.        They were thorough and efficient, warm and caring.  I can't say enough wonderful things about them.   I would recommend them highly.   They are professional,  effective,  compassionate and a credit to their profession.  When you need funeral services,  know that these people will handle every detail with the utmost care.   David and Dana Lambie are absolutely fantastic! read more

Clean, even received a card in the mail with a cloth that has wild flowers on it so you can bury and it will bring forth wild flowers so that way you have someth living and beautiful to remember your loved one by . My father passed away recently and my sisters and I were sort of scrambling with what to do but my brother in law who is friends with David and held his own fathers funeral at Lambie, reached out on our behalf and David took care of everything. He was so kind and caring of every detail that went into the entire funeral from beginning to end. He called a few times between the day my dad passed and the funeral to check in and see how we were and if there was anything we needed and had questions on regarding the upcoming service. The day of he was incredibly attentive and understanding; our visiting hour ran slightly over and David could not have been more accommodating, he said he didn't want to rush anything as people were deep in conversations and listening to our dads music playing, he was not going to push us to start the service right at the hour mark, I thought that was just so amazing. I am amazed and incredibly grateful for the level of service that I received from David. He has a very calming way about himself that helps one in a time of grief, sorrow, and confusion feel safe. I had the misfortune of losing a lot of my family and we turned to Lambie's because they were in the neighborhood, but we really didn't know a lot about them back then (talking twenty years ago). We were amazed. They took care of EVERYTHING and handled everything smoothly. Loved ones who had an open casket service were done beautifully, and looked like themselves. Loved ones who were closed casket and loved ones who were cremated were handled with the up most care. The funeral home directors were extremely compassionate, and comforting. We have turned to them time and time again, and ALWAYS been treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. They have always taken care of each and every family member as if it were one of their own. And they aren't too busy to answer questions, or help you figure out things you had not considered. They even remembered one of the first people I had to bury nineteen years ago, everything from the whole name, to how he was buried. I had people die suddenly, with no plans or preparation for it, and Lambie came through and made sure they were taken care of, with the love and respect they deserved. It truly is a shame when a place such as this gets one bad review and it serves to reduce the star quality of a truly remarkable business! My sister and I were told to check out funeral homes before our mother's passing from cancer, which we did with great sadness. I won't mention the others because it's unnecessary. This is a review of Lambie, and Lambie, alone...although I will say that Lambie's prices were far better than the others we visited. The others had additional charges for what David Lambie was giving us for free. That would be the engraving of roses on the casket and the beautiful embroidered blanket in addition to the video of mom's pictures which were shown on two flat screen televisions throughout the viewing, along with music from my IPhone's playlist. My sister told me she passed the funeral home every day on her way home from work and she admired the grounds. So I agreed to meet with David Lambie, although my sister had already spoken with him via telephone and she felt very comfortable with him after their conversation. David Lambie is, in my opinion, one of the reasons I was able to get through the initial loss of my mother. I called him as soon as she passed on a Sunday. Although he was out of the office & his wife Dana answered the call, he called me right away to offer his condolences and tell me that he was available no matter what I needed. David has a most soothing demeanor. But mostly, he was and is just kind and gentle in every way imaginable. I admire his gracious and affable manner of being. The room where the viewing was held was quaint and the blue hues of the room were very peaceful. Needless to say, all went beautifully. My mother looked beautiful as well. David saw pictures of her in life and ensured that her hair looked exactly like she wore it. Her makeup was applied beautifully. Again. David ensuring at every juncture that she looked exactly as she did in life. By the way, we hired a gentleman by the name of Joe Dvornecky (sp) who recited a beautiful poem and released four doves at the cemetery. It was the most glorious way to send our mother to heaven. As to the negative comment made by someone about Lambie Funeral Home, we chose to make our own decision and not be guided by the negative review. Sometimes people have expectations that can NEVER be met. I believe that the review is absolute hogwash. David Lambie and his family...his father was also at the cemetery and the church...treated us like WE were his family. During a time in most people's lives when one is experiencing such tremendous grief, to feel like someone taking care of you can ease the burden, having done everything they could do to make this horrific time so much easier, is a blessing. My husband, who passed of cancer at a young age, was 'taken care of' and viewed at Lambie's funeral home. David was our contact. As my husband was to be cremated but the family wanted a viewing as it was so unexpected and they needed closure, I agreed to the viewing. I provided everything down to his favorite suit and cologne. Not only were my 4 children in attendance but our teen and younger nieces and nephews as well as many of his students and colleagues. . Let's just say that for over $8,000 for what was a viewing/cremation only - he WAS NOT EMBALMED - because if he was, he looked so incredibly discolored, with no makeup to cover any of it - no filler as I requested to not scare the children - I provided photos that showed he was normally a little fuller in the face, not much at all but I did not want anyone to see him looking as he did before the autopsy. David up-sold every single item to a grieving widow - knowing there was no necessity. I found the whole process distasteful and rude as he rushed the viewing, didn't allow anyone to speak other than the priest. My husband wore his wedding ring during viewing - while my children and I were the last to do the final viewing I requested the ring back since he was being cremated. David literally wrenched the ring from his finger right there - shaking the coffin (the faux 'show' coffin that the plainer one used for cremation is slide into) violently - literally scaring my children and causing my children to cry and have nightmares later. All in all, a horrible experience. My father passed 3 years later, also from cancer but in much worse physical condition. Thankfully by then I found Burns Funeral Home on Frankfort Avenue, was recommended highly and did a fantastic job of making my father look as peaceful as possible. read more

I lost my Aunt on 6/21/2018 at 9:10am and had no idea where or what I was going to do in terms of her service. My Aunt and I talked about Lambie's as we drove by the place every day of our life. I must say from the time I called and spoke to Dave Lambie himself my job got easier. He came to pick her body up in a beautiful blue cover (her favorite color). He told me he would treat her very special. He said give him a call when I was ready to sit and make the arrangements. I called him and he said come on in. We sat down and he just listened. He let me do all the talking. He did not try and sell me anything. I told him what I wanted and he provided. He told me what not to waste money on and accommodated me in all I wanted. I had a vision of what I wanted her to wear that day. He got up from the desk and pulled out of the closet the exact gown I wanted for her. From the obituary, the video, the cards and flowers and what I wanted inside the coffin and outside of the coffin was exceptionally beautiful. The day of the viewing and Funeral his wife Dana was so professional and provided all we needed. We were not rushed for time. We were treated like Family. We sent my Aunt off the way she would have wanted. So beautiful and peaceful. He is definitely my new connection for a Funeral Home. read more
