That never happened. I didn't take the opportunity to go to Stars & Stripes in Lubbock while I was a student as much as I should have, and after this visit, I feel regretful. My girlfriend and I took a trip to go see Backrooms at her request. The night we went wasn't a double feature night (some nights they show two movies back to back which I highly recommend), but I don't know if we would've stayed awake for two flicks! As showtime nears, the line to get in grows, so make sure to get there early to park in the best spots. We got to the theater about 10 minutes before showtime which gave us plenty of time to park our car, use the bathroom inside their retro-themed diner/concession stand, and order some snacks. For less than the price of a popcorn and two drinks at your standard theater, we got a popcorn, candy, a hot dog, a soda, and fried pickles. Their food is a typical concession stand affair. I wasn't blown away by anything, but it was all EXACTLY what I expected. The sun took its time to go down so by the time the movie started, it was a little dim due to it not being nautical twilight yet, but as the movie progressed, it was easier to see. You have a station to tune into for each movie, and it's slightly lo-fi and missed a little low end compared to a typical theater's sound system, but it's a drive-in, you gotta make a compromise somewhere. The only true issue was people randomly turning their headlights on mid-movie, blinding everyone nearby. Don't do that. You can tune in via the radio station they provide, or rent one of their old-school radios if you want the full nostalgic experience. The diner is adorable and the staff was genuinely great. They were handing out samples of food bites (such a fun surprise), and they also carry classic drive-in treats like lemonades and milkshakes. It's very dog-friendly, laid-back, and I noticed a play area for kids as well. Bring chairs, bring snacks, get cozy, and enjoy a throwback movie night that still feels easy and fun. Not to mention the whole place looks disgusting and the seats are always dirty from whatever the last user spilled on them... Clearly is in need of new management or a remodel of some kind. The only restrooms are way in the front near the snack bar. The floors are always sticky. A small Sprite was $5.25 plus tax. The candy selection was lame, therefore, I am more likely to smuggle in my own next time. Recently on June 18, 2024, I came here with my daughters and their aunt and grandmother. No one ever asked to see the tickets that I bought to see IF which was adorable by the way. But our movie was disrupted by staff members asking others to leave and/or move because they either didn't have tickets or had the wrong seats. Yesterday on June 6, 2024, I came by myself to watch Sound of Hope. Great movie by Angel Studios. When I was at the snack bar, a young girl asked to see my ticket so I showed her my phone. She wasn't particularly nice about it. She asked to see it again and then gave me a printout of a small ticket stub. They never even scan your tickets. It's the strangest ordeal. The worst part about this experience is that me and another lady went up to the front to tell them that our movie previews hadn't started when it was supposed to at 12:30PM. No apology or any explanation was made. I'm glad we said something because I don't think they were checking on our theater room at all. Dirty restrooms. Barely enough soap to wash my hands and no paper towels. It's OK for my hometown movie theater, but it certainly could be better. The staff is nothing like it was when my brother used to work here in the early 2000s. It's nothing like it used to be when Mr. Littlejohn was in charge. TIP + every Tuesday all movies are $5 per ticket.

Dun dun). After our entrance into this newfound land that we thought to be our saving grace, our guiding light into the film we were all ecstatic to view, some minutes passed and then we were informed to make the treacherous journey back to the esteemed Theater #3 the place of our first defeat. Our fellowship did not falter, although we did lose a helmeted soldier, we carried on, we had to see it through. We settled back into this place we thought we had left for good and made it as homely as we could with our limited resources. Conversations of our travels were shared and laughter erupted within those walls that we thought no longer held any joy within. The minutes passed and passed but our resolve never faltered. Like waves breaking through a dam we were hit upon with the crash of being informed that they were unable to get the film audio up and running. Our hearts took the information with pangs of pain but in our minds we still had each other and they could not take that from us. We had each other. Though we did not have the shared experience of watching a film in the company of another we did share the experience of not watching it and being there for each other in a time of hardship. Maybe that was the point of it all, being there for each other when unexpected incidents occur. Taking comfort in a strangers company and knowing that we are not the only ones in this predicament.

I come here all the time. So does my family, we're platinum in the app. Thats what made this last…read morevisit so bummy. we went January 1st and saw Nosferatu and the screen completely messed up, the movie restarted and although it fixed the screen issue, they did the restart without warning or anything like that. But on Jan 19, is when we were treated rather unforgettable by a blonde cashier. we were on register 7 and our movie time was 1:25. The pizzas were all gone (as they usually are), it wasn't a big deal we've had cashiers pop one in the over for us and had us on our way in 10 minutes, but this day, the cashier told us no that they are fist come first serve and she couldn't do anything about it. And seemed rather annoyed that we even asked. It was actually crazy how the attitude changed after we asked about it, if she didnt want to serve us that was fine, she could have just gotten someone else to do it. And if this was the case about the pizzas, the sign that says "just ask at the counter for more to be made" should be taken down so this does not happen to anyone else. we've never had an issue with staff being rude until now.
