It wasn't the end of the world since we're meticulous about backing up our data. Nonetheless, I needed to have the hard drive replaced. I was going to take it to the Apple Store, but the reviews I read about their charges encouraged me to find another option. Unfortunately, in the Lancaster, PA area there aren't a whole lot of options for Mac computer repairs. Then, I remembered that one of my sons took his iMac to have a hard drive replaced at Pham Computers and was entirely satisfied. So, I contacted them and they said yes they would replace the hard drive in my MacBook even though they're primarily a PC shop. So, I stopped by on Wednesday to drop of the laptop and spoke to Zach who was very helpful. Much to my pleasant surprise, I was contacted later that day and they told me that the drive was replaced and as (gratis) bonus they would image the data on my old hard drive and copy it to the new drive potentially saving me some time in doing a TimeMachine restore. I received a call the following day to say they were successful in saving all of my data and that the computer was ready for pick up -- WOW, A 24 HR. TURNAROUND!!
