I'm someone who admits I loves sweets. Parked across from Lancaster Cupcake for a Saturday outing. At the end of the day, I made sure our group of six stopped in for a treat. I've had cupcakes, from a few of the well know cupcake places in Manhattan. The cupcakes here are much better! Size is smaller, but taste makes up for it. The cake is moist and has flavor. My seasonal peppermint patty had a filling. The icing was sweet, but not sickening and also had an incredible flavor. I didn't finish it that night. My bf and I got a dozen and tried one of each, both regular and vegan. The cupcakes were dry and all you could taste was the icing. I had 2 cupcakes here - the lemon and snickerdoodle. The lemon was fabulous-the icing was lemon-y, creamy and sweet all at the same time. I liked the cake, but they put whole lemon zest in the batter. The texture is a little weird, it worked for me but not everyone may like that. The batter was a little heavy too. The snickerdoodle wasn't anything special, I just felt like it was all sugar, not much balance or flavor, just sweet. I was also disappointed they didn't have any normal flavors like standard vanilla or chocolate. We went about 8:30 pm so maybe they were just sold out. For my husband, who likes vanilla, chocolate or chocolate peanut butter, this was a disappointing place - definitely for people who are adventurous with flavors. We both tasted each cupcake and they were all so delicious, especially Blueberry Bumble. That was our favorite and Katie is going to try and re-create it at home (she's an avid baker). Blueberry Bumble had cream cheese icing, and all of the flavors from the icing to the filling all blended so well together. In fact, all of their flavors of cupcakes were so well done. You can tell that the owners here really love what they do, the cupcakes are phenomenal. The only issue we found was that the tiramusu cupcake's coffee flavoring all seemed to sink to the bottom of the cupcake, but it was still so good. The Key Lime was not overly tangy, which we found to be a good thing, and the smores cupcake was so rich, it would be so wonderful with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. read more

Some of the best cupcakes I've ever had. I hadn't heard about this place firsthand when we spotted it during our visit to Lancaster. Drawn in by their bright logo and cute interior. They were contestants on Cupcake Wars, and I believe have since evolved from a food truck to multiple store fronts since their episode has aired. Bought a half dozen to sample as much as we could, and so many flavors were tempting. My favorites were probably Toffee Crunch, Salted Caramel, and Red Velvet. WOW. Seriously maybe the best cupcake I've ever had. I live in DC and they are on par, if not better, than Georgetown Cupcakes, which I thought were my favorite cupcakes! They are soooo moist with the perfect amount of frosting. It looks like they also do full cakes and I kid you not, I may try and get them to do my wedding cake and deliver down to DC, which I knowwwww sounds crazy but they're that good :-p They also have vegan, gluten-free, and vegan andddd gluten-free cupcakes. The shop is definitely very cute and trendy BUT the cupcakes were 3 stars at best. The cake was similar to a pound cake texture/Taste, which isn't really what I look for when I eat a cupcake. The density and sweetness also made it really hard to eat with the amt of cream cheese-buttercream frosting....just way too much at once. Also since the cake textures are the same and the same frosting is used it caused the 2 flavors we tried to taste virtually the same :( My Lemon raspberry cupcake had no distinct flavor (just like a plain vanilla), which was very very disappointing. My husband's strawberry cheesecake cupcake was much better than mine though but still average. Sidenote: I wish they put the gluten free and vegan cupcakes in the same display as the regular ones! I wanted to love this place. I found it mediocre at best. I ordered four cupcakes and the cake for all of them were very dense. The cupcakes didn't taste moist and fluffy, they almost had a glue like consistency. The frosting for the most past was good. I did not care for the Carmel macchiato cupcake, it seemed overly sweet with no real coffee flavor. We also had the party cake, the raspberry one and the double chocolate chip. The guests could not get enough. It had been a while, but my husband and I recently were in the area and bought a pack for my birthday to share. We were very disappointed.
