Ill start by saying I NEVER leave reviews unless I feel it is absolutely necessary. And if I could,…read moreid give zero stars! First issue- HOURS AND DAYS of absolutely no update on what is going on. My mother has been in the hospital for 6 days. And the staff has told her nothing. She was finally told on Friday (nearly 4 days after admission) what was wrong. The only way we knew anything is by looking at and reviewing labs on our own Second issue- HIPPA HIPPA HIPPA. The amount of times information regarding other patients was shared is insane. Diagnosis, prognosis, BAC, criminal charges. You name it, we heard it. Third issue- food, or lack thereof. It was hit or miss as to whether or not food was offered or provided. AND on the rare occasion she was given an option or her order was taken, the food she got was most times not even close to what she had asked for. Fourth issue- after being told there is a possibility for discharge (by NURSES who don't even make the decisions) they got pissed off at my father and gave him attitude because he asked if they knew what time discharge usually occurs. Fifth issue- fall risk, alarm on the bed, choosing between shitting oneself after several call bells pushed and ignored, or just getting up to trigger the alarm. What a hell of a decision to make. This place is an absolute joke. And its truly unfortunate that the staffing is few and far between of those that actually care about the patients and the quality of their treatment. I would not be surprised if the hospital closes or a major lawsuit occurs.

He has severe PTSD, is in drug withdrawal psychosis, he has told the staff at ER that he doesn't want to live anymore, he's so exhausted from living on streets.. Apparently, the only thing they will give is tranquilizers/chem restraints that cause brain damage. They don't try to get them to a place to sleep, or therapy, or rehab. His feet are blistered from walking in just socks, and head very razor burned and partially shaved. He's the kindest most tender hearted person, But they don't see that, they only see how psychosis is impacting him and it's like they're holding it against him. I waited for two hours in the waiting room and they discharged him without telling me, and without telling him that I was there, knowing that I'm trying to establish contact with him to try to help him get into a therapeutic rehab. (he has no phone). I've heard the Penn medicine ER is much kinder to those in withdrawal or psychosis. Update 8/25: A loved one went there bc of withdrawal from marijuana and having mental health instability; this hospital won't help them, they just send them out on the streets. The nurses in triage for substance use/mental health are not trauma informed, were very rude, condescending, and triangulating/undermining to erode trust between the patient and their family and vice versa. Pointless to try to get help for a loved one in need of rehab here. 2/25- Make sure you do not bring any belongings because you won't get them back. I brought in 5 bags of clothes and toiletries for my son who was being transferred and they went missing. Even though the security sergeant confirmed watching the video footage and seeing me bring them to him and hand them over the desk to the nurses, who confirmed they would inventory his things, there is no paper trail of these belongings. Now he does not have these 5 bags of clothes and toiletries because the nurses failed to inventory them. The hospital is not making any sort of amends, no one, not even the patient advocate, has called back to address this. It was his nicest clothes and three bags of brand new toiletries, socks, etc. All I have is the security sergeants confirmation of video footages showing that I brought the items in, but without a paper trail, there is no way to prove I brought them in and therefore no one is being held accountable for the theft of my sons belongings. Very sad that this is just going to be dismissed even though there's proof because the sergeant confirmed watching the video footage. I would also complain about how rude, belittling, and un-trauma informed the nurses were but, I already know advocating falls on deaf ears because of advocating for a patient in the past and nothing changing.

The Dr and Anesthesiologist were great at explaining everything and laying out all options. They were friendly and kind to the doula as well! We gave them a birth plan and they followed it completely. We had another nurse in couplet care named Binika who was outstanding and stayed 30 minutes past her shift due to an emotional situation. She was outstanding as well. Overall, the visiting hours and down time hours were perfect. Gave us time to recover and try to get some rest. Lactation support was amazing. They were very helpful with my wife and she was very appreciative of the staff for assisting her with this. My wife and I are grateful for their services and the safe delivery of our baby. Would definitely recommend Women's and Babies Hospital! The food was okay, but the peanut butter pie was stellar! The day of birth meal for the mom is between crab cakes, steak or lobster. We came in after a stressful sports accident involving an open, bleeding eyebrow laceration and an alarming 'poking' sensation in the eye. From start to finish, Dr. Natalie and Nurse Cindy provided absolutely outstanding, patient-centered care. They were incredibly kind, quick and safely flushed the eye with saline drops to clear any hidden debris. Dr. Natalie expertly assessed the injury, took the time to explain exactly why medical glue and Steri-Strips were the best, least invasive choice for tight eyebrow skin. They turned a scary situation into a reassuring, and highly professional medical visit. We felt genuinely cared for and not just like a number. While we didn't catch the receptionist's name, she was also kind, quick and efficient. Thank you so much, to the entire team for your amazing skill and kindness!

While I liked the way I was in/out, the friendly staff, the free parking, etc...all of that went out the door when they screwed up and sent (unnecessary) labs to the wrong lab. Didn't think a culture of the fluid they removed from an ingrown hair would need to be tested. The problem was quite obvious and relief occurred as soon as they drained it. But they insisted. Why and for what purpose? The lab came back a few days later and the treatment didn't change regardless of their findings. Because they want to pad your bill that's why. Let's just ignore the fact that my insurance requires lab to be done at Quest. Let's send it to LGH and have our patient pay for it completely out of pocket. That's the thought process of LGH....no matter what practice I go to within their network they ALWAYS manage to screw up billing. And there's no way to avoid them because they got you by the balls by having the majority of the local medical doctors/practices/urgent cares/hospitals in "their" network. We're all screwed! So not only do you need to be the patient but also your own advocate. Don't trust that their billing team of "insurance specialists" who work with these plans day in/day out will do what is required of your plan. You gotta babysit them to do their job. Every aspect of their job, every time. So there goes my paycheck,...... thanks LGH, you should be paying me for doing the job your billing team fails to do!

So now I'm running drugs through my body without getting results! Seems unwilling to keep with the plan and keep trying meds until we find what works and with side effects I can tolerate. Most nurses i speak with when i call are pleasant, but a few are not helpful in any way. Recent blood test was prescribed. Got a message from a nurse that I was late on getting the test. In all my blood tests over decades with a variety of Dr's I've never heard of such a thing. I get the tests when it suits me and have never been given deadlines. They make demands on me but they rarely do what they are supposed to do. I don't get the impression that they are interested in listening to me. I finally had to tell my Dr that I make all decisions concerning my health. He can recommend and educate but I make the final decisions unless I am unconscious. Then he makes the decisions following my advanced directives.
