Mary Lou R Placed a call today at 12:35 p.m. January 23. I was "caller #9. I was going to hang up numerous times, but I really needed to see how long it would take to speak with a nurse. I went to "caller #2" at 2:55! Was "caller #1" at 3:35. It's now 4:35 and I'm still caller #1. Thinking at 5 p.m. the recording will go to "our office is currently closed"!!! Going to stay on, just to see what happens. It's now 5:15 still #1 and the office closed 15 minutes ago. Safe to say nobody works overtime to take calls, since they don't take them when the office is open! Looks like a personal visit is coming on Monday morning. WTF!!!! This office might look new with a new owner and fresh nice faces up front, but the medical staff still like to pass the buck and tell you to "go see a specialist". If you have ANY type of mental health issue, they will NOT work with you. They do not like to prescribe anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds, or if they do, and it doesn't work, they won't take you off it and try something else, they just tell you "go see a specialist". PASS THE BUCK, that is what this office is EXCELLENT at. If you need a new doctor, ask for Dr. Yancey, she is new to this office and about the only one who will sit, listen and come up with a fully executable plan on how to treat you PROPERLY and THOROUGHLY. read more

One star because I could not leave zero stars. Not the first time I have been all but ignored. Called at 8am on Monday morning with what appeared to be serious but not yet ER worthy gall bladder symptoms. they took my info and said a provider would call me back. 4:00pm, no call back. I called office and was on hold for 40 minutes. When someone bothered to pick up the phone, she read what provider (whoever that was) wrote: if symptoms worsen, go to ER. My family member was a regular patient here for years. He has now been unceremoniously dropped as a patient in a disgusting letter we received. To provide background, this office misdiagnosed his cancer for about a year before sending him to an outside specialist's office who eventually sent him to Roswell Park. After the devastating diagnosis of cancer at 32 years old, we never heard from Dr. Kuehnling or anyone associated with Lancaster Medical. For reference, the outside specialist called multiple times, offered his sympathies, and discussed the treatment recommended by Roswell Park. He even gave us his personal number. This is how a normal, compassionate doctor acts. The only time we heard from Lancaster Medical is when they called to schedule an annual physical. We told them that he would be doing inpatient chemotherapy for 6 months and since he was admitted to the hospital and immunocompromised, he couldn't come in for a physical. They were told that he was a patient at Roswell Park and they had access to all physicians notes and blood work as Lancaster Medical was listed as his primary care doctor. No sympathies or well wishes were offered. No "hope you feel better" or "you've got this," just told him to call back and schedule his physical. They'd call back two more times during his treatment to try to get him in for a physical. As far as I know, they never contacted Roswell Park. Let me be clear, no competent doctor's office would ever recommend an immunocompromised chemotherapy patient at high risk for infection and neutropenia come in for a medically unnecessary routine physical, especially during cold and flu season. This office not only expected it, but when it didn't happen they sent us a letter letting us know they no longer deemed us fit to be patients. After over a year of battling cancer, he was dropped for missing his routine physical. I called and left messages directly for Dr. Kuehnling to see if this was a mistake. A month later, I haven't heard back. Do yourself a favor and find a different doctor's office. The people here lack the basic emotions and compassion normal human beings possess and you will be treated as a billing opportunity, not a patient. read more

My only advice is to find another doctor. I had been seeing Dr. Kuehnling for more than 20 years when he suddenly decided to end my care in a letter. I tried many times to reach him as I believed we were friends as well as doctor/patient. Each time I called I was stopped from reaching him by his office manager. She is not at fault . I blame Dr. Kuehnling. When I needed him most he became unavailable and wouldn't even do me the courtesy of speaking to me. Now I am a patient at Sheridan Medical Group and they are the best. This office should be reported to the state health dept. they dropped myself after rescheduling one appointment. They dropped my mother over an ins billing conflict and treated my mother like complete dirt when she tried to resolve the issue. My 80 year old grand father was diagnosed w dimentia - his dr at Lancaster medical NEVER sent him to a neurologist !! He put him on meds without even sending him to a specialist for his dimentia. My grand father fell. They didn't even want him to come in for a look over they prescribed him pain killers over the phone and charged him a copay for that. They never sent him for X-rays or recommended further treatment for the fall. My grandfather ended up going to the hospital because of the fall - the hospital made numerous attempts at trying to call my grandfathers doctor from Lancaster medical. Not only could they not get ahold of him they never tried to return the call to the hospital or get in contact with them. The hospital was shocked my grandfather was never referred to a neurologist for his dimentia they were also shocked as they've never had a doctor ignore them the way Lancaster medical did. My grandmother who is also a patient fell - also in her 80's and she called her doctor at Lancaster medical and all they did was prescribe her a steroid over the phone and charge her a co pat. They didn't ask her to come in for an appt or recommend her for further care when she stated how much pain she was in. This doctor office is completely unprofessional they do not care about their patients. They are rude. All of their office staff is rude and abusive towards patients. I would give zero stars if that was an option. They are neglectful and if you care at all about yourself or your family you will steer clear of this place. They should be shut down. I am concerned that this practice is become more about billing for services. I went in for my annual physical and as part of conversation brought up a couple concerns to discuss. Even though my appt was still short (less than 15 min), I and insurance were charged for an annual physical AND a speciality visit. I called insurance and they said more and more doctors are doing this. Everything you discuss will be a separate charge to you. If you are reading this, you're either looking for a new doctor or currently seeing someone at this practice and checking out the reviews. Let me save you some time - consider another medical practice!! I was actually referred to this practice by another of my doctors. I regret to say that since day 1 I have had nothing but problems. I will save you the hassle of reading all of the little details and give you a high-level overview. My first experience: I called to see if they were accepting new patients and "lucky" me they were...at least I thought! The woman on the phone took all of my information and advised she would send new patient forms to me so I had them completed at my first appointment. Upon arrival at said appointment, the woman at reception was confused as she had no record of my appointment. After much back and forth, she confirmed when asked that she had my information so this is 'proof' I did call, however the woman on the phoned made a mistake and never booked my appointment. I couldn't wait, left and called later that afternoon to reschedule. My second experience: Still trying to get in for my initial appointment, and I was charged a missed appointment fee. Apparently there is/was a new system being implemented at the time and when I called to reschedule the woman on the phone booked it incorrectly (..yes again!) and I was charged a fee - thankfully the manager was able to fix it however advised me: "If you are asked to pay it, tell them they must look in the old system - everyone should know to do that but just in case" - not feeling very confident here! My Third Experience: I finally get to see the doctor, but find out it's a NP - which isn't an issue, I just wasn't aware I wasn't seeing the doctor that I had been advised to see. As i'm checking out, someone whom I can estimate as the office manager, is talking to three other employees in the office area and making comments about her having to fire a former employee. What was most disturbing is she spoke as if she enjoyed it and even made a comment that she didn't fit in with the rest of the team. It was unprofessional, crude and in no way should a personal matter be spoken out loud and to other employees. It truly made me second guess the safety of my information when other patients were around! My Fourth Experience: Waiting all day to get a simple response from the doctor is painful! I've never had a medical office where the NP or other qualified representative couldn't address a question and provide an answer. Any former medical office (some that are 3 times the size of Lancaster Medical) I never had to wait over 8 hours for a response! My Fifth Experience: At about the 9 month mark from my last physical the calls and texts started reminding me to come in for my physical. (Please know that I still had only visited an actual Doctor/NP/Nurse one time at this point). I would get calls weekly, voicemails, texts etc., 'reminding me I need to schedule my annual physical and if I don't they will drop me as a patient'. I have never experienced this type of "demand or else" treatment anywhere. My prior doctor's office who I had been a patient at for over 15 years never made a threat like this. I value the doctors/nurses time and respect them to ensure i'm on time, I also expect quality treatment in return. This made me feel like a number and a quota they needed to hit to bill for insurance purposes and more money!! I wouldn't have been as upset - however the entire physical with the NP was less then 10 minutes (...yes less than 10 minutes). So I am bombarded with calls and emails to get me to come in and you don't value my time enough to give me a proper annual physical. I am a patient at Lancaster medical with a history of being on high synthetic hormones for pre-existing medical conditions. I called the office Saturday morning and because they are closed I spoke with an on call who happened to be Nicole a PA. I explained my symptoms to find out if I needed to be seen or if I could wait through the weekend. She explained it sounds like I could have a dvt or infection in my leg and wanted me to go to the emergency room right away. I asked her for a script for an ultrasound to rule out a dvt at an outpatient facility that was OPEN AND WILLING TO DO IT RIGHT AWAY and go from there because my er copay is $200. She said she's not doing that and argued with me and said I needed to go to the er. Here I am typing this in the ER as the er doctor said that was a foolish thing for her to do as Windsong was willing to see me right away to rule out a dvt with a Doppler and the hospital does not have Doppler on the weekend. Not only did she fail me as a provider, but she urged me to be seen in the emergency room without ensuring they could assist me and being here is just as good as the phone call with her. A waste of time and money. So tomorrow I'm asked to call my primary office on er doc orders to get the script for an outpatient Doppler ultrasound which could've been given to me when I initially called, saving me a $200 copay, risk to numerous infections and four hours of my day !!!! My husband and I will be switching providers immediately. This is not the first time she failed us as my husband's symptoms were ignored at the visit with her and two weeks later his labs ordered at the er showed he was on the verge of a heart attack! She needs some more schooling and maybe revisit her attempt at providing care for patients as she's doing the opposite! read more

I can't recall how many years I've been gong to Lancaster Medical; somewhere between 7 and 10 years. I have received quality care every time. I have had no problems with anything pertaining to their business. Each sickness or complaint I've had with my health has been handled with efficiency and excellent knowledge. Regarding the naysayers, I can't conceive how you could have any problems, unless you act in a rude manner. If you show up on time, pay your bills in a timely manner, you shouldn't have any problems. I've never been threatened with 'expulsion'. If you need to cancel an appointment, make sure you do it 24 hours ahead of time or it will be considered a no-show. If it happens more than once, you may be billed a fee. Miss too many appointments and yes, you may no longer be welcome. Who you see is your responsibility. The other 5* review notes that lady has only seen her primary once and has been seeing a physician's assistant ever since. I have seen a physician's assistant once and every other appointment has been with my primary. If you sign up for the patient portal, you can make your own doctor appointments. I do it all the time! Make your experience what you want it to be and you'll be giving them 5*'s, too!!! read more

Very surprised to see all the negative reviews people have given this office. I myself am very picky about my chosen medical office; if I do not feel that I get the attention of the staff during my visits, or if I feel that the staff can't answer my concerns to my satisfaction, I will find another provider. I have been going to Lancaster Medical since moving to Lancaster area seven years ago. When I finally moved across town five years later, I decided to stick with Lancaster Medical as my primary care provider, even though that would mean 30-45 minutes drive one way per visit. That's how confident and comfortable I am in the care that they provide me. Lancaster Medical staff has always been courteus and personable to me, from the receptionists to the nurses and Physician Assistants, to the doctors themselves. My PC doctor is Dr. Kuehnling, and I have met him in person only once in the past seven years, but I know that he is in touch constantly with the PA that I see regularly in his stead. The PA, Emma, is always courteus and helpful, and never hesitates to answer all of my concerns to the best of her abilities. When she prefers to elevate my inquiries to Dr. Kuehnling, she always lets me know, and I can be sure that I will either get follow-up calls from Lancaster Medical later on, or I will get my answers when I make those follow-up calls. I have had needs to see a few different specialists so far. Each time, Lancaster Medical willingly provides me with referrals that suit my needs and requirements. I have not been disappointed in the kind of care they provide me. To make the most of your experience with Lancaster Medical (or any medical care provider of your choice), I'd suggest to be upfront and honest about the kind of experience you'd like to have with your primary care medical professional. If you prefer to meet directly with the doctor each time, say so, but be aware that the doctor will be busier than the PA and may not be able to see you as often. If you're fine with a PA but want to see a specific person, ask for that particular PA when making your appointment for the next visit. Also, please remember that like any other office, the staff is made up of humans who are busy, can't read minds, and may make human mistakes. If something is important to you, don't hesitate to make follow-up calls; your health is as much your business as theirs. read more

Been a patient for a couple years now, after the original PA B. King left... things started to change for the worse. Instead of the office taking a 1hr lunch (12-1) they seem to take lunch from 12-2 sometimes... Calling there to workout any issues regarding billing or prescriptions is also a MAJOR issue as no one wants to pickup the phone. Being onsite is another issue. When I was last there I left and the woman at the window said I had to go around the corner to pickup my paperwork... After going to this window the woman seemed that I owed her something (big attitude) that I was there so late and seemed very inconvenienced that she had to sit there and grab a print out. Recently found out that my fiance had a $100 bill due, with no notices sent tot he house they simply could of asked her in January for payment... but they did not... Instead they sent her to collections and stopped all services. So instead of TAKING CARE of the patients they make it look as since she owes $100 they don't need her as a patient. That to me is wrong. Very wrong. She called over to Lancaster Medical and they immediately said since she was sent to Collections she can never be considered as a patient EVER again and then hung up on her. read more

I recently had a run in with the billing department. They insisted I owe them 15 dollars yes 15 dollars which I have proof I do not owe. After a half hour of a rude office manager they didn't even have the decency to tell me I was kicked out. I called to make appt to get critical medicines they proceeded to tell me then. The girl I was speaking with even agreed w how bad this office staff is. I would like to think the doctors here don't know this is going on but getting hard to believe they don't know with all the bad reviews out there. I want to give no stars, I was a patient there for 8 years and had to go every 3 months. My last physical should have been covered by my health insurance as it was preventive care, however I received a bill for $95.00. I kept questioning my insurance company who stated they did not bill it for preventive care, I kept trying to get in touch with their billing department and got no where. The bill was now 3 months past due. I then received notice by mail that due to doctor/patient conflict I was no longer a patient of theirs. I received this notice after just having gallbladder surgery. This was all due to the $95.00. I called and spoke to the office manager after a number of attempts to reach her and treated me like dirt. I can't believe after 8 years I was treated this way and not once did I never pay my bill to them. I still question the charge but I am getting no results, I now owe $145.00 as they sent it to a collections agency I can't win this one I am stuck. The way I was treated was awful and I would never recommend them. I have never been treated this way the staff was nasty and rude during the whole ordeal. read more

I just swithced over to this doctor office and based on first impressions - I am impressed. I had a 4:00 appointment and I didn't even sit down in the wiaiting room as they took me right after I checked in. What a nice change from having to wait up to an hour at my prior doctor's office. They have an online patient portal, allowing me to log in to view my records, handle prescriptions, view lab results, etc. LOVE that. SO much easier to log in than have to wonder if results are in. I saw the actual doctor - Dr. Kuehnling - and he was very personable. My husband transfered here as well and upon his forst appointment their research discovered a couple issues - one in which was a possible misdiagnosis from past doctors. PLus they have evening hours available. My last doctor closed by three and only a open a few days week. Definitely been happy here thus far. read more

I wish I could give Lancaster Medical negative stars because giving them even one star is a travesty!! I would like to be clear to anyone that reads this review of Lancaster medical, that it is not a negative reflection in any way shape or form of Dr. William Kuehnling himself who I will refer to for the rest of this review as dr. K. I began as a patient in October of 2018 with Doctor K and Lancaster medical and up until June 10th, 2019 I was as happy as a clam with Dr. K and his entire staff. What happened recently is that I have been getting billed for charges where the codes do not match the description of the charge. I am a member of United healthcare Medicare advantage plan because I am disabled and that is the plan I chose on January 1st 2019. I am responsible for a $10 copay whenever I visit dr. K's office per the agreement under my UHC insurance benefits. I recently had a discrepancy in the amount that I was being charged and I asked for clarification from the woman named Shelby who handles the billing for Lancaster medical in house, I left several voicemails for her clearly indicating the nature of my call for a couple specific charges that were being charged to my account and I wanted an explanation as to what these charges involved. The straw that broke the camel's back occurred on Monday June 10th 2019 when I made a phone call to Tammy the office manager and I asked her to explain the charges on my current bill. I quickly realized that Tammy had no justification for the amount of money I was being charged above and beyond my $10 copay each time I visited their office. So it turns out that the charges that Lancaster medical submits to UHC when I visit them and the adjustments that UHC pays them minus my copay, is all that I am legally responsible for. Lancaster medical cannot charge me the difference based on what UHC does not pay them for their submitted claims that is unethical and it is against the policies and procedures of UHC. Basically, the charges that Lancaster medical submitted to UHC were not paid in their entirety by UHC do to adjustments, and the difference that was not being paid by UHC, they expected me to pay them in return. I called an administrator with UHC who works out of Florida and I was corresponding via e-mail with her all day on June 10th 2019 and she told me that I am not legally responsible for additional charges after Lancaster Medical receives payment from UHC. She contacted Lancaster Medical by phone to bring this to the attention of Tammy the office manager. I called Tammy 2 hours later to find out if my charges had been resolved. Tammy said that my new balance is zero now and she was clearly agitated with me based on her tone of voice. Since the UHC manager and administrator from Florida contacted their office they decided to take my current bill of $65.93 and reduce it to zero the way that it should have been in the first place. Unfortunately, I now feel like any day this week or next week I am going to receive a letter from Lancaster medical stating that I am no longer welcome as a patient in their office and it's because I stuck up for myself and I questioned my bill and contacted the proper people with my insurance company UHC and with Lancaster medical to resolve the issue, and it was resolved but it has tainted my patient/office manager relationship. It's a shame that I was treated this way by Tammy, the office manager for Lancaster Medical. It's Weds June 12, 2019 and my patient portal has been deactivated just as I have anticipated so I have contacted my attorney today and I am pursuing legal action against Lancaster Medical. My family were patients there daughter received a bill for $10.00 she called and asked what it was for her copay is $20.00 which was paid they said they had no records what it was for and didn't know but she still had to pay it. Next she seen a specialist and info was sent to Lanc. Med they said she should have made an follow up appointment with them and she didn't so she is dropped from practice and nobody called her to do so. For myself I waited in waiting room for over 45 minutes and I told them I had to leave and couldn't wait any longer they billed me for a missed appointment and I called and told them what happened I refused to pay bill and they booted me out also. The actual care from doctors and NPs is just fine. I have no complaints at all regarding the actual care. I also like the nights with late hours. We've been fit in on short notice for a sick visit. The office staff, however...not so much. I'm tired of having to do their job for them. Paperwork doesn't get filled out or sent despite me filling out most of it for them. This has happened more than once. And if it does get filled out, there's errors or omissions. One time some paperwork actually got lost (their words.) The wait time to talk with a nurse varies from 10 to 20 minutes. Calls don't always get returned. read more

I was a patient at Lancaster Medical for years, but they went way downhill during that time. I would rush there from work, they would take my pulse and blood pressure and insist I needed medicine. I would ask them repeatedly to take these vitals again after I was there while, they would refuse. Any place else I had my blood pressure taken it was perfect, many times even lower than normal. But, even telling them this made no difference. Since I refused blood pressure medicine as a result of other tests they listed me as "uncooperative" and two times refused to clear me for necessary surgeries just because I disagreed with them on one medicine. I also came in after being in Cleveland and ending up in the hospital on the way home for what was presumed possible heart attack. The hospital took blood and noted a high level of one of my medicines and questioned if I needed that high of a level because my blood work didn't warrant it. After arriving home a few days later I went to Lancaster Medical, Dr. Cleary entered the exam room and shouted at me that "other doctors should not be questioning his prescribed medicines" and stormed out. About fifteen minutes later someone came into make up the room for the next patient. That was my appointment after being released from the hospital for a possible heart attack? They even refused to give me a needed referral to go to a heart specialist. After I got my insurance company to agree and the specialist found nothing wrong with my heart they refused to send me for any more testing to find out what caused a hospital to think I was having a heart attack, these symptoms kept re-appearing and they kept refusing, instead just telling me to take more medicine. Mind you, other than the first time I went there and being yelled at I never once saw Dr. Cleary because he was too busy, instead all you get to see is PA's. But yet he claims he "knows me"? Needless to say I changed doctors and Lancaster Medical refuses to send my medical records to the new doctor even if I pay them the $1 per page they charge. In fact, the PA at the new office left Lancaster Medical because she says all the patients were treated the way I was - drug them up, yell if they get a second opinion, refuse to send them for any testing. read more

If I could give them a zero, I would. Spent a year going there every month or two complaining of severe abdominal symptoms. Saw at twitty PA who sent me on my way every time. Whether she discussed anything with Dr. Kuehnling (my GP for more than 10 years) or not, I will never know. Two weeks after my last futile attempt to get treatment at Lancaster medical,, I landed in the ER. The diagnosis was stage 4 ovarian cancer. My stomach was so distended that I looked 18 months pregnant and iI ended up having two and a half GALLONS of fluid drained from my abdomen. The PA put her hand ON TOP of my stomach just weeks before and said she didn't feel anything. If you value your life, find someplace else for medical treatment. read more

I just received my certified letter from Lancaster Medical Practice onTransit rd. Depew, NY. I am not getting kicked out due to a no-show fee like my husband & 2 of my friends, ($50), I am getting kicked out, according to the letter, for a disruption in doctor/patient privilege. After being a patient there for years, they have comletely shut down my patient portal, and will not prescribe me any of my pain prescriptions, antibiotics, NSAID's, etc. etc. I am now in severe pain, & they have recommended that I find another doctor. When you first sign in, if you are even directed to the right window, and they ask you your private information out loud so everybody in the waiting room can hear everything, you then sign your name to something, but you have no idea what it is, as it shows up on the computer screen on the other side of the window. Maybe you're signing your life away, no way to tell. Sorry Dr. K. I really, really have always liked you & will miss you. But, with all of my monthly appointments, I really only get to see you 1/4 of the time. They give you some young, nasty physician assistant, that is fresh out of school, & thinks she knows everything. She thinks she knows more about your case after 2 mins. that Dr. K knows in 5 years. She is rude, trying to make a name for herself, & if I can think of her name, I'll post it. So, now i'm left with trying to find a new physician for my ongoing medical needs. All they care about is the almighty dollar. Evidently, they're trying to weed out all of the medicaid, medicare patients. You get no second chances, no chance to even try to talk to your doctor, just a cold, very cowardly letter from the office manger saying, basically, fuck you, even if you've been a patient for years. I'm am completely sick over the whole thing. They've left me high and dry. Dr. K, time to move on & get your own practice. Everybody loves you,, but the staff and board at lancaster medical is ruining your reputation, & you know it. I was a patient of Dr. Clearly for many years. The key word is "WAS". They are all about the money, if you don't agree to see them way to early and often; they stop filling your prescriptions; then eventually drop you as a patient! They tried to force me to see them every 3 months to fill vacancies, when I refused to come in that often my Doctor "Dr. Cleary" himself had a conniption fit. He proceeded to tell me how expensive it is to run a medical business. After having an argument about money with your Doctor, I decided it was time to find somewhere else for my medical needs. Over time Lancaster Medical discontinued services to my wife and son also (as they were patients also) for not filling their vacancies often enough. Stay clear and find a Doctor that cares more about your heath than your WALLET. read more

Patient here for years and always satisfied until last visit. Had the nerve to drop me as a patient because I questioned - not refused to pay - a procedure and due bill. I learned this is legal, but very unprofessional and uncaring. Found another practice closer to me and won't look back! read more

Ugh! After 10yrs. with this practice, I am leaving with disgust! Got an infection from a bug bite and they couldn't "fit me in" for three days. Waited for call back for 3 hrs. to be told they don't have the time. Nurse said office manager makes the decision(?) no openings. Didn't know you needed to have appointments before you get sick. She noted I haven't seen the Dr. in three yrs- so what?? Not making enough $$ off me? Couldn't give me the last name of "Lillian" -the horrid office manager- because she couldn't spell it?? what kind of office staff and nurse is this? Dr. Keuhnling should be ashamed.. leaving practice ASAP. Urgent care took me, gave me antibiotic- out in 20 minutes,,, read more
