Can I give 0 stars? DO NOT GO HERE. The only thing this "doctor" did for me was shave down my bunions, that were still clearly bunions! I even got an infection while healing. Not to mention he didn't even complete the osgood schlatters procedure correctly on me knee (I still have that too). I should of known when he made me wait 2 hours for the first surgery to walk out. This man is cocky, and for what? He doesn't do anything for patients. Praise the Lord, my sister had surgery with Dr.Coetzee so I was able to get in with him asap. That man is a real doctor, not this guy. He didn't even solve the root of the problem, bunion pain. Also, who the hell wants to do this surgery twice? He does one foot and makes you wait six weeks to do the other. So much healing time. I gained 20 pounds and was badly depressed during those months. With Coetzee I was able to walk right away in the boots and stay active. World of a difference. Save yourself the time and money, this man should be put out of business, sorry not sorry. read more

I will forever regret the day I met Dr. Lance M Silverman. Silverman Foot and ankle, Medical practice offices Edina and Burnsville MN. Throughout my medical treatment as his patient, Dr. Silverman misdiagnosed me, he lied reading my MRI and X-rays. He was over zealous with booking unnecessary surgeries. From the first appointment I noticed his extreme narcissism. I presumed it was confidence from experience, unfortunately it was not. I'm not his only victim. He has many victims. Please research exte I was in great health, I had two complete physicals with blood work prior to surgery with Dr. Silverman. I also had additional bloodwork and medical test done to confirm I was in excellent health prior to surgery with Dr. Silverman. I followed his pre-surgery protocol. I went went into surgery and Dr. Silverman was several hours late for surgery. He never met with me prior to the operating Room. He insisted I was put under general anesthesia prior to his arrival to the hospital. He never spoke with my family or myself upon release discharged from the same day operation. He caused extreme damage. He continued to be inefficient as a doctor. I went back into the ER, he again misdiagnosed me. I was told by several Fairview hospital medical staff members Dr. Silverman is known for his botched surgeries and infections. His action as my medical doctor was in my opinion and several witnesses opinion, criminal. He continued to lie to cover his operation mistakes. If Dr. Silverman was ethical, addressed my medical care with crucial immediate medical emergency care, he might of been able to help me. Unfortunately, he was NOT. If a Doctor is not guilty of medical malpractice, he would ethically do everything in his means to save his patients life and limbs. Unfortunately, Dr. Silverman's medical care was horrific. He misdiagnosed to cover up his botched inept medical care causing further damage with his lack of concern delaying my medical care. Causing a life threatening emergency situation. If I would've followed Dr Silverman's inept direction, medical orders, I would've died. I had to remove myself from his medical care and seek out emergency care through a different hospital and a different doctor who ordered me to have a emergency operation to remove the horrendous damage Dr. Silverman throughout his medical care, surgery and after care. I'd actually already scheduled a Lapiplasty surgery with another surgeon when I came across Dr Silverman 's less invasive surgery to correct the problems that had occurred over the previous year and a half, while all of the soft tissue in my left foot went through the very slow healing process of well over a year from the trauma of dropping a large sledgehammer directly on top of it. OUCH! He was the only doctor I met with who actually took my foot into his hands while looking at the x-ray: he felt it, moved it around, noting the looseness of the ankle, ("You sprained it a lot as a kid ~ you must've been a roller skater or ice-skater, huh?" he said) the bones within it and how they'd moved without the muscles to hold them in place. He told me the x-rays he'd just taken showed some arthritis, and asked me exactly WHERE the pain was the worst, WHEN did it get bad, and HOW bad was it? He explained that this type of arthritis comes from having a very similar injury to the one I was healing from now, but at a much younger age. That triggered a memory for me back 50-some years as a pre-teen, when my cousin's largest horse stepped fully on top of that same foot, causing that same pain, which I then remember resulting in limping that lasted for months. He told me why the bunions formed, both the bunion beneath the Big Toe and the "bunionette" beneath the baby toe. The previous surgeon had not mentioned that one AT ALL! He also explained how the tendon that connects to the second toe was being pulled too tightly by the bones as they separated, and that's what was causing it to curl into what is called a hammer toe, which he said he could ALSO fix. This foot has caused me to need to go in for chiropractic adjustments weekly, if not more often, due to the amount of pain I'm in from my body getting so out of alignment trying to navigate throughout the day. Because I also had been hit by a car and had the left knee broken when the bumper hit it at age 25, the foot problem exacerbated the knee issue to the point where I can only take steps one at a time, and need help getting in and out of chairs, and FORGET about holding anything while trying to stand up! My hips constantly out of joint and my sacral nerve pinched: I COULD HARDLY WAIT for surgery! I cancelled with the other guy and scheduled With Dr Lance Silverman INSTEAD! I had my surgery November 4th, and today is December 15th. I've been in to his offices for 3 post-op appointments, and have one more to go. My recovery was pretty painless! They did a pain block from the knee down that lasted the first 24 to 48 hours; it was difficult to discern exactly when the numbness left, but I only ever took half-pills of the pain meds provided, just before sleeping so I wouldn't wake up in pain. I was prescribed one of those cool knee scooters to tool around with for shopping, and it was pretty fun in the parking lots, too! After the first week, a big velcro-strapped walking boot (weight on heel only} was provided, which made getting around the house much easier. A smaller boot at the 3rd appt was appreciated then, too. Keeping my leg and foot elevated whenever not actually on the ground seems to be the key towards keeping the inflammation and swelling minimized on the entire foot, but especially the tall 2nd toe, which did get the hammertoe correction procedure done on the tendon attached to it. That toe is twice the size it used to be, and looks like a little sumo wrestler. So Far, SO GOOD! This Doctor knows his field of practice Well! I had Dr. Jeffrey Seybold at Twin City Orthopedics do surgery on my right ankle twice and was still in a lot of pain! Seybold said everything looked great but it wasn't, so I got two second opinions and both Doctors agreed that the fusion had to be redone! I decided to go with Dr Silverman and the surgery was a success! I haven't felt this good or been this mobile in years. I sure wish I would have seen Dr Silverman first. Do not go there. Did not see doc for three weeks after surgery. Saw nurse on visits. Told her just look the big toe is back where we started. Over a year now since surgery. Actually the second surgery, first failed, came apart, screws came out. Three more hours in surgery to repair the failure. Spent 4 months on crutches and a boot. Over 15 office visits. Many xrays. Thousands of dollars wasted. Big toe angle back to where I started over a year ago. Second toe overlaps third just like before starting. Second toe now longer than big toe so it contacts shoe causing pain. Hurts to walk, toes rub in shoe. I have to use elastic to seperate toes. He explained how his procedure could help fix my issues and get me back to normal. This foot has caused me to need constant chiropractic adjustments because I walk so differently with the pain, and can only take stairs one at a time. I was not happy with dr. Silverman, my surgery was in the spring of 2019, my family doctor if 30 years recommended him. I has pain from a fracture 10 years before that, I had extreme pain with my ankle that worsened. One week before surgery I get this letter saying "oh by the way I'm out of network, but it's ok you wont pay anymore than if I wasnt" I got the same hammertoe business as well. Four years later I still have lots of pain in my ankle. He is a part owner in his surgical center, so he makes money on that too. The original invoice he charged my insurance well over 60,000 for a half an hour surgery. If you have medicare you're okay but I had private insurance, candy for him. I had already paid my in network deductible, so it should have been covered, but now I had to pay out of network deductible as well. He will also give you things you dont need, to increase you're bill, essentially his profit. What a shister! I still have alot of pain. Said I need hammertoe surgery, I dont even have hammertoe. He is a narcissus. When I had cast off he didnt even do it. Think I saw him twice, original consult and surgery. Do not go to this man! read more

I suffered from ankle pain for several years. In the past, other physicians had told me there was nothing they could do. I work retail and I am always on my feet. My pain was so bad that I stood of my good foot most of the time. A friend at work told me to call Dr. Silverman. I'm so glad that I listened to her. In 2008, I had Dr. Silverman operate on my right ankle to repair the ankle after a severe sprain. I am so happy with the results. Then this summer, I had pain in my left foot and leg. I elected to see Dr. Silverman again because of the excellent results I had in 2008. Without doing any invasive surgery, Dr. Silverman recommended a course of treatment with some wraps and a foot splint. Again, I am so happy with the results, without having surgery! read more

After going to another clinic for my ankle problem and being given different options to try for months at a time, Dr. Silverman diagnosed my ankle in 2 minutes. He told me my options, live with the discomfort or have surgery. I choose surgery. His timeline for my rehab and recovery were spot on. I had the my ankle reconstruction surgery about a year ago, with great success! I was jogging in 6 months and playing baseball in 7 months. His bedside manner is awesome. I am so happy I was referred to Dr. Silverman. I was injured in a ladder fall a few years ago and broke and dislocated my left foot. It was reset noninvasivly by another orthopedic surgeon. It was a decision I helped make. Anyway, 2 years later my family Doctor said I was walking worse than the last time and told me to see Dr. Silverman. I was impressed the first time I met him. I scheduled surgery and had a triple arthrodesis performed. I experienced very little pain post surgery and even less the next day and so on. I'm serious about feeling very little pain. I hardly used any of the pain meds that were prescribed. I was even impressed with how fast the incisions and bone healed. A year has now passed from that surgery and I feel good. I am able to do almost all of what I could before my ladder fall. I am not very athletic, but I work hard for a living lifting heavy stuff, and walking in treacherous conditions. I can even cross country ski again. If you are having foot problems and you are on the fence about having someone look at it, Go see Dr. Lance Silverman. Why live in pain and walk funny? Go see him and get your stuff fixed! I am happy I did! He gave me my lifestyle back! Also the staff at his offices are top notch, They even laughed at my bad dad jokes! read more

Dr Silverman is a great surgeon but......BEWARE OF YOUR BILL !! I was having extreme plantar fascia problems on the bottom of my left foot. Dr Silverman performed the surgery. It is now 5 months after the surgery and it's getting better. Now for the PROBLEM........Dr Silverman used an 'engineered tissue' on my foot to evidently help speed up recovery. He DID NOT nor did Allina get APPROVAL from my insurance company to use this tissue (EpiFix) which is considered investigational/experimental. All of a sudden I received a bill from Allina for $8,775.00!! I have been going in circles with both Allina, Silverman & Medica for 4 months to no avail. I have now requested the assistance of The Attorney General's Office. Silverman states he is not responsible for the payment of this as it was billed by Allina.....Really??? Who was the surgeon that decided to use this engineered stem cell infested tissue in my surgery WITHOUT my consent or knowledge and without permission from my insurance company?? It was Dr Silverman. Allina states it's "not their problem" but they never called either to get approval from my insurance company. Silverman claims this tissue is used ALL THE TIME in his surgeries and they have never had a problem with insurance. Come to find out, it's because they 'bury' this into a lump surgical charge so insurance never knows it was ever used.....until now! I have had several conversations with Dr Silverman's wife, Anne, but I am led in circles while they claim to have been trying to help any way they can, they have not. If that be so, then they should PAY THIS BILL! Silverman used this tissue without insurance approval, without my knowledge or consent I will fight this to the bitter end, go to court, etc. THIS IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY! I would not recommend. Very expensive. My new outpatient visit alone was $420.00 He gave me an Nerve block injection another $208.00 which took about 5 seconds to inject. I consulted 3 doctors, he was the most expensive. After my small Insurance adjustment, I had to pay $556.44 for a consult which was not worth it. Silverman does NOT deserve to use the title doctor in front of his name. My first consult with him I thought was impressive (little did I know). It took 2 months before I could get the surgery done on my foot. I thought the wait would be worth it. Apr 12, 2019 surgery at Greenway Surgical Center was a joke. They sent me home after surgery with a plastic bag on my foot to control the bad bleeding problem. 4 days after that I saw Silverman. The cast was taken off along with the bag and it smelled like dead rotten fish. A serious infection had set in. Requiring a 3 week stay at United hospital. All the time Silverman told me things were going good from the surgical standpoint. A month later another week stay at United Hospital. This time a MRI was done too. When I questioned Silverman as to the results of the MRI he said the infection was not in the bones but just in the blood. And it was being treated like before from the hospital's infectious team. But when I questioned him as to the surgery part he blew me off. Less than 2 weeks after that hospital stay and with a follow up appt with Silverman he told me that the surgery was a complete failure. I would not recommend this POS to anyone. And to back up my opinion.. I read reviews on him from here to Greenway to the BBB. I was shocked to read of all the pissed off people that he screwed over. U'd have a better chance hiring a greeter from Walmart to do ur surgery. Not this clown. He calls himself a surgeon? He just wants to think he is and play the part. I have been suffering with heal pain for nearly 10 years. Initially I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis by a podiatrist and was given an injection of cortisone. That worked well the first time, but over the next few years I had two additional injects and they basically stopped working. I assumed I was stuck living in pain and discussed this with my primary Doc. He encouraged me to see an orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion, enter Dr. Silverman. Dr. Silverman was great, very thorough and knowledgeable. He made an initial diagnosis and that was confirmed with a CT. He gave me a range of treatment options but I wanted this fixed, so I opted to have surgery. It went off without a hitch and the recovery was exactly as he said it would be. 6 months later I am finally pain free and able to play outside with my children again. Dr. Lance Silverman performed a procedure involving bone fusion to address a bunion on my right foot. Now five months post surgery, I can say that I'm still recovering (as would be typical for this sort of foot surgery), and I'm pleased with his work and his professionalism. At the first appointment, he was personable and informative. From the time I scheduled surgery through the initial weeks of recovery, his assisting staff answered many questions for me and he himself left me personal voicemail messages in response to concerns that arose. Nothing went awry; in fact, my experience, prior to surgery and in all ways following, has gone like clockwork...reliable and well. At the six-week post surgery appointment, Dr. Silverman made a referral to a physical therapy group that has proven warm, professional, and effective in helping me regain use and feeling of my foot. I am looking forward to returning to running in the next few months, and I credit Dr. Silverman and his staff for getting me to this point. read more

I would not recommend coming here. Although Dr. Silverman is probably a decent surgeon, his reception staff is somewhat incompetent, and they never answer the phone. Be prepared to leave a message and wait a while for a call back. My husband drove an hour and a half for his first appointment and waited for 2 hours to be seen, which is crazy being he was one of the first appointments. He felt very rushed through his appt. which lasted only 10 minutes. During that 10 minutes Dr. Silverman received severals calls from his wife, which he answered. He told my husband " sorry I have to take this, but it's my wife, you know how that is right. Finally, we still have never received a copy of his X-rays after several phone calls and filling out the proper release forms. read more
