Two screens, with them and the box office upstairs. There is elevator access, so the space is totally accessible. I didn't take any photos here, because although I don't mind being a nuisance in a restaurant, there's something about doing it in a movie theatre that makes me reluctant. So we'll see how good my powers of description are. You can buy tickets ahead of time online, or at the box office. I did the latter, and was amazed when the ticket master swung a screen around and showed me the seating plan. I could choose my own seat! What world was this? What kind of rep cinema heaven? All the standard concession standards were on sale, along with various beers and ciders for the adults who want such things while watching a movie. The decor isn't anything remarkable, except for the closed gramophone cabinet with a DO NOT TOUCH sign (close enough, I forget the exact wording). It made me wonder if they crank it up for special events... I saw a lady with a ceramic coffee mug. So as to not keep everyone in suspense, a slide in the theatre said they can serve you a drink in a ceramic cup or a disposable one, your choice! What was going on? Futhermore, my popcorn with no topping was delicious. Almost no unpopped kernels. Another slide informed me that they popped them using coconut oil, and that they used REAL BUTTER. What are the rents like in Kingston, anyway? With all this, the prices were comparable to what you pay in Toronto for a rep theatre. The theatre is long and narrow, because there are two of them side by side. For the size of the room, the screen is a fine size, and the seats are modern, clean, and comfortable. Sound is great as well. I chatted with the cinema masters behind the counter after the movie, and they aren't on any standard rep circuit. The owner picks out what they like for the programme. Frankly, I liked a lot more of the monthly calendar than my current Toronto rep theatre, as much as I love it. All the prices are pretty rep theatre standard. If you're in downtown Kingston with a couple of hours to spare, this is a wonderful space to catch a movie in!

However, they do show blockbusters from time to time, as they are currently doing with Wonder Woman. It's the perfect spot to catch all of the Oscar-buzz movies, as well as foreign films that are worth the watch. Their website, newsletter, and Facebook make it easy to stay up-to-date on what's showing at the moment. The theatre rooms themselves are smaller than some may be used to, but provide a cozy atmosphere that make you feel like the movie is just yours to discover. I can assure you that I have discovered some of my favourite flicks here, and my faith in filmmaking is renewed every time i walk out. Price-wise, they are quite reasonable, and with their new membership system, buying an annual membership works out to be "worth it" after something like 2 movies. Besides, I'd happily hand over all of my money to these wonderful people. One thing to note is that they are cash only, so drop by the bank or ATM beforehand. They are currently working to expand the Screening Room and add a new screen, which is very exciting to hear! I'm looking forward to seeing another movie here soon!

That was until it decided to run "E.T." for a year and a half and went out of business. So, off to Kingston we'd go to see movies. Bit of a hike, but you do what you have to do. One visit back to Gananoque for Christmas or something, we noticed the Boulevard Cinema had opened near the Gananoque waterfront. This movie theatre offers almost-first-run movies, that being films that have been out for maybe a week or two. As such, you have to pay the exorbitant fee of $4.00 per admission. If this is too pricey for you, you can always go on Tuesdays where it's $2.00 to get in. Happy now? Initially the sound was crap in this theatre. The theatres themselves were small and the speakers that were used did nothing to fill the space. So the management set to making the sound work and as a reward for people putting up with shoddy sound, open their doors for free. These guys know how to run local business. Yes the theatres are small, but as such are intimate. And with the newly renovated sound system, the theatre provides astounding value for money. Seriously, four bucks? You can't rent a movie for that. The quality service and facilities have not declined, if anything there are small continual improvements. Art deco themed the Silver Cinema has 60-comfortable seats, with lots of legroom. It is totally accessible, including washrooms. There is also a typical movie canteen available. It is no surprise that they were named Gananoque's 2014 "Entrepreneur of the Year".They are always contributing to Gananoque. For example, selling movie posters as a fundraiser for the Gananoque Humane Society, providing a venue for a local film maker, and other entertainers.

It was a little confusing to find the entrance into the mall to go into the theater, but we eventually found it. Once inside, we went to the concession counter to get some food before the movie. We had not had lunch so my wife and I ordered a hot dog combo, a nacho combo, and a large popcorn. So all of the items we got were a hot dog (which seemed as if it were microwaved), a thing of nachos with a small cup of nacho cheese (with Jalapenos which were $1.50 extra), a large popcorn, 2 bags of candy, and 2 large fountain sodas. This came out to $58... which flabbergasted me. Upon walking into theater 9, the theater was smaller than I expected. The seats were also very disappointing. The seats were very low to the ground, and I felt cramped in the seat itself. I don't know if I am spoiled with the theater near us, but I expected a nice reclining seat. The theater was overall very clean, and once the movie was over, the staff were in to clean almost immediately.

She ended up giving all 4 of us free movie tickets that never expire and all of us free drinks. I'm not sure if staff that work the ticket stand are influenced to be stingy towards underage kids or noticeably defiant but the difference between the ways me and my friends were treated were totally different. This isn't for the attitude me and my friends were given trying to get in to the movie, it's for the simple acts of kindness shown to us by blue. Thank you blue for making all of us leave in a positive attitude.

We have NEVER been to this drive in where they have only played one movie. What happened to the double feature movies?? The fact they don't play two movies on certain days is not clear on the website. The cost was the same for one movie on these days as it was for a double feature movie. WOW. It' was so disappointing that we likely will not return.

A tarted up shadow of its former self…read more What's left of the original decor is hidden behind countless taped up posters, signs and standing displays - to the point where it looks like a teenager's bedroom or a college dorm. I like movie posters, but you're bombarded with them practically everywhere you look. It's beyond overkill. The actual movie experience on nearly every screen is compromised by the dim projection and because they're mostly in oddly shaped rooms where sightlines take a lower priority to capacity and traffic. Before you watch a movie here, pull up the trailer for that movie on your phone. If the picture on the movie screen is not as bright, sharp and clear as the picture on your phone, there is definitely something wrong. The most common causes are leaving the 3D filter on for non-3D movies, using worn out projector bulbs beyond their expiration date, and running the bulbs at less than full capacity. My guess is all three happen here. The screen wall should be free of distraction, not competing with a ramp to an exit door, especially if that ramp pushes the screen up to an uncomfortable sightline. Worst is #6 where the seats face straight ahead, but the screen is angled oddly to the left. I understand why it was done - a bad choice years ago - but it's no longer necessary, and the result is an awkward asymmetrical sightline. Also, the blue lights on the stairs are 10 times brighter than they need to be. The glare in your eyes increases your chance of tripping, (I did, and the guy in front of me, too). The floor lights reflect on the screen, washing out the picture contrast with a blue glow throughout the movie. Not a premium experience. The main room is very sad. The once beautiful atmospheric sky ceiling shows peeling paint and water damage, the original stage looks like a basement with some kind of pipes or partially dismantled metal framework hanging over the screen. The staff are generally nice except when they're not, seats are comfortable but worn out. Popcorn is pricey but decent. It's bafflling that the theatre got a huge financial grant from the city and instead of repairing the main room and so many other details, they wasted money on things like planters outside. Saving labor by eliminating the box office and selling tickets at the concession stand can stall your access to seating, because you have to wait while everyone in front of you gets their snacks. Asking an unoccupied person behind the counter to pause whatever he's futzing with and sell you a ticket so you can move on gets a curt refusal. I'd like to see this place - and the usually nice folks who work there - succeed and thrive, and I still like the idea of going out to a movie, but for the most part, this place isn't likely to draw me away from the brighter, sharper picture on a halfway decent TV screen, except for an occasional event movie that I'd want to see when it comes out. That will still look much better when it's available to view at home.

Very stressful moment for her as my son's friends were getting dropped off and there was nothing she could do. Shame that the only theater within 30 miles is run so poorly. Ended up scrambling up to Destiny. Kids had a good time! Won't make that mistake booking Oswego Cinema again...
