The experience of working with them from the initial communication to every stage throughout the process was superb. We worked directly with James Pulliam, who's the head of their remodeling department. James was extremely helpful and professional, especially in his consistent communication. Highlights: Don Bybee construction wasted 5 months of our lives while we lived in a hotel. All the…read morework, including the new cabinets, had to be re-done because EVERYTHING was garbage: and that was according to a USAA adjuster who came out after I complained of the VERY poor quality work that was done. Keep in mind, an employee of USAA came out, and said it had to be re-done from the ground up. USAA is not in the habit of spending money, so you can imagine how bad the work was. We had to have our new cabinets ripped out, our walls re-textured from the floor up to the ceiling...we had to start from scratch, after I complained week after week for 5 months about the lack of progress and poor workmanship. At this point, USAA fired Don Bybee construction from our job-site and said they would 're-train' Ryan and Co., but USAA also drug their feet for one (1) year to approve the new funding for the re-re-construction of our home. In all, we spent 1 1/2 years living in a hotel, and mostly we have Don Bybee construction to thank. I could not believe my eyes when I saw they were still in business! We had 4 estimates taken for a french drain installed on one side of our house that was pooling…read morewater between us and our neighbor. We decided to go with Mid Cities Landscaping as Neal was really sweet and confident that his suggestion/fix would alleviate the problem and also help the grass grow better as he suggested St Augustine sod along that whole side of the house as well. The work finally got approved by our HOA and we started. It was estimated to only take half a day to get the trench dug and the box installed. For some reason it took 2 days as the sod was not available that first day which seemed odd. The next day the sod was installed and only HALF of what we expected was placed along that side of the house; so now we had half Bermuda and half St. Augustine. Also - I thought they would cover the drain area with pebbles or rocks - but they left the open grating showing - which was not what I had envisioned. I wanted to pay in either cash or ZELLE - but he insisted on some other strange online payment system called "QuickBooks" which I was unfamiliar with and required you input your bank routing #! (Sorry, but that seemed very sketchy to me. No one savvy will pay by giving out their personal routing # unless they are super stupid.) Long story short - Neale stopped by to pick up a check. We paid the fully agreed upon price; even though I felt a bit cheated. Oh -and I ended up buying 2 large bags of dark gray river rock to put over the grating and then planting RYE GRASS seeds in the open areas of dirt that was left without sod and was ruined by the digging. Now we have 3 different grasses growing in that area; but THANKFULLY when it rains there is no more pooling of water! It was the strangest work I've ever had done by a "professional landscaper." I really liked Neale as a person - but ultimately decided to hire another landscape company for work on the rest of our property.
