The good: they were able to get my dog in very quickly. All of the staff was friendly and courteous-with the exception of the vet who saw my pet. The bad: the vet mis-diagnosed a fungal skin infection as a type of alopecia that is common to dogs with my pet's particular coloration. She said there was no treatment and I'd just have to "live with it". After consultation with another vet, the infection was treated with a common anti-fungal creme and shampoo. It's almost completely cleared up now. I don't want to use a vet who mis-diagnosed what was apparently a fairly common skin ailment. read more

SOOOOOO EXPENSIVE! My family and I moved here back in 2020 and the prices were nice and made since. Now they want us to pay over $1,300 just for them to take off a skin tag/growth that is the size of a pea by my dogs eye. Unbelievable, so expensive and just not going to work. We switched to Landrum Veterinary after our previous vet was purchased by another vet. They have been very attentive and seem genuinely concerned. We saw different vets every time at first. The last vet, Dr. Lara, took care of the issue quickly. I love that she took the time to sit with our dog and get to know her before jumping right into treatment. They did not try to upsell which I appreciate. They do take walk ins. You have to realize they are squeezing you in between other patients with appointments and you may have to wait. I appreciate that they work us in And they are open on Saturday which is a big plus since we work 8-5 during the week. read more

If a zero star rating was available, I would have used it. I was a client for over 10 years with multiple pets. I have many complaints over the years but will concentrate on the latest and may I say the last issue with this group. My dog and constant companion started coughing a year ago. I had him examined by these vets on two different occasions. Their diagnosis was that he had allergies! The coughing got worse and I took him to a specialist at Upstate Emergency Vet. It was discovered that he has an enlarged heart and congestive heart failure. I called Landrum Vet to advise them and express my disappointment with their practice. Their only comment was that "we will send your records to whoever you want". I asked for the contact information for the owner, but was advised that I could not have access to that information. NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!! If you care for your animals as I do, you will avoid this rude, unprofessional practice at all costs. read more

DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC! we took our dog who was ACTIVELY DYING there only because they were the only vet open. after telling us to leave our dog they called back later to say they would be putting her down. understandably she was very sick. they called back later to say it was $2,000 for by the way nothing and wouldn't take a card over the phone. the same card they took in person earlier for a deposit of $400. fyi $200 was because we were not their patient. Don't board your animal here they are NOT watching them!! Our beautiful dog died after four days here because she was not watched during a heatwave. Dogs are boarded in a 'back' building and staff are not attentive to dogs kept there. Even their ICU is unattended at night. After our dog died they didn't accept responsibility or feel remorse. They had no explanation and would not provide details from that day or camera footage as requested. Just don't bring your dog here!!! We will never use this vet again. read more

I called Landrum Veterinary Hospital four days ago telling them that I thought my dog, Leon, was in the last days of his life. They told me to just call and come in and they would take me when ever I was ready. I called the office at noon, four days later, and they said to come anytime between 2 and 4 and they would take care of Leon. They took me in a back room, provided a blanket and made Leon and me feel special. They brought treats, even a piece of ham from the refrigerator, which Leon kept on his tongue until he passed. What a way for a junkyard dog rescue to go. They stoked him and made me feel as if I wasn't alone in my grief. Had a horrible experience. We had a sick cat that needed urgent care. We were told to come in at 8 o'clock in the morning. They kept promising that we would be next, but by 10 o'clock they were still letting other people in in front of us. Very poor communication. I have been going to Landrum Veterinary Hospital for 25+ years. I have hesitated to write a poor review in the past because we love Dr. Raines and Dr. Lara. Unfortunately what happened today with Dr. Parker, AGAIN, is the final straw. My first experience with Dr. Parker was unpleasant. Approximately 4 years ago, my 79 year old mother took her dog in with an ear infection, we listened to Dr. Parker's diagnosis and recommendations patiently. When she was finished my mother asked a question, at which point Dr. Parker held up her hand (in the talk to the hand position) and argued with my mother. The question was if we could pack the ear (as another vet had done in the past with another dog and it had worked great). I'm sure my mother was asking because she was 79 years old, and Dr. Parker's recommendation would have her trying to administer antibiotic drops 3 times per day. I was livid at how my mother was disrespected by Dr. Parker, I mentioned it at the front in hopes that it would not happen again. I avoided Dr. Parker, making sure the staff knew that I only wanted to make appointments with Dr. Raines or Dr. Lara. We continued to go to Landrum Veterinary Hospital because we have had wonderful experiences with Dr. Raines, she has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Landrum Vet was always the Vet in the area that seemed to be doing what they love. Unfortunately, in the last 2 years THE PRICES HAVE GONE UP, WAY UP! It was quite a shock, when I compared invoices from a year prior, some items have tripled in price. So, fast forward to my experience today, a Saturday. On Saturday you get whatever Vet is working. This morning I sent a urine sample in for my 12 year old golden retriever, I was pretty sure she had a UTI. Dr. Parker was the vet on duty, she verified that my girl does have a UTI and needs antibiotics, but she would not give me antibiotics for my dog because she is 1 month and a few days past her annual visit. You read that right, a veterinarian refused to give me an antibiotic that she said my dog needs because she is a month late for an annual visit. NOT a month late on vaccinations, she had a 3 year DHPP & a 3 year Rabies shot in December 2021 (a year and a month ago). Those 3 year vaccinations will cover my dog through December 2024. So, I sent my dog into the vet (with my son, because I did not want to deal with Dr. Parker today) and paid the added upcharge for a visit without an appointment. Unlike a licensed veterinarian, I was not willing to let my dog go 2-3 more days without an antibiotic that she needs. What Dr. Parker could have done, what any veterinarian that cares about animals would have done, was to say "I'm giving you these antibiotics today, please bring her in for her annual exam next week." Did I mention that I have been a customer for over 25 years? I have spent thousands of dollars there, it's not like I'm going anywhere. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I think Dr. Parker brings Landrum Veterinary Hospital down, she makes it feel more like a place that is there for the money, rather than for the love and care of the animals. My advice is, if Dr. Parker is the only option at Landrum Veterinary Hospital, go on up to Columbus, NC (10 minutes) and visit Bonnie Brae Veterinary Hospital. read more

My husband and I have lived in various states and owned dogs for 37 years. While we have had a few very good small animal veterinarians over the years, we would have to say that Dr. Osborne here is outstanding. She has treated our 14+ year old, almost 100 lb, Weimaraner's severe arthritis with acupuncture for almost 2 years and this dog can run with a bounce like a puppy. Prior to her treatments we had considered the inevitability of euthanasia not far off in the future and never expected him to live this long. She also diagnosed very quickly our 11 year old Weimaraner with spleen cancer so we were able to spare him the suffering that was imminent. After he was euthanized, the staff boxed this close to 100 lb dog with such care that when we put our Schatzi (German for treasure) in the ground, it was as if he were in a treasure chest. No other veterinary hospital had ever done anything like this for us. Landrum veterinary hospital is all about good service and care for animals; it is not about opportunities to charge the owners as much as they can get away with. read more

New to the area and first time trying this vet. One of my dogs went in for a teeth cleaning and extractions. The reception desk was friendly and efficient. The vet did a fine job on the dogs teeth. I was quoted $500. for the same procedure in my former area and this vet charged $150. I will definitely take my dogs there again in the future. read more

This is a FABULOUS Vet practice! I do a lot of rescue work and have used Landrum vet for a good portion of my veterinary needs over the last few years. Dr Raines is awesome, and the staff is always accommodating, friendly, and helpful. I have never had a bad experience there. Their prices are very competitive and lower than most other vet offices nearby. The doctors really care about their patients and go WAY above and beyond to help you help your animals.
