I have been a homeowner in the Coventry subdivision for 30 years, and am an original homeowner. I…read morehave had a few issues with the homeowners association over the 3 decades, and most have been resolved without major issue. At one point the association president was rather aggressive and many residents suffered under her regime. Fortunately it was short lived. Generally the association, which is staffed by paid management is very responsive. The board staffed by homeowners has had the same elected president for over 20 years, and this past year I had several interactions with the board with varied results. Overall it is satisfactory but I think sometimes the board could use a fresh perspective every "decade" or so. One of the "perks" of living in a community like this is use of the community room, a very nice room to gather for special events and larger parties. Over the years the price has become what I consider to be rather unreasonably high for resident use, given the amount of homeowners dues we pay each month. When I rented the room recently, the cost was a $275 personal check, with $75 refundable if certain requirements are met. I consider that cost a bit stiff to use a room for a few hours. I think half that amount is far more acceptable. There are two very nice pools in the complex which have had various issues with available life guards, but over all the pools are well maintained. Again, there are no free guests of residents which I consider a bit of a price gouge. I mean do they really need $5 per guest if I have a grandparent in town who wants to come along nd watch my child at the pool? Not a fan of that expense. Residents should have free guest passes each season. I have also not been a fan of not having access to the pool due to swim meets. Then again, my children did not participate so for me it was like not having access to something included as part of the benefits of homeownership with paid dues. The landscaping is non stop here. There has been more leaf blowing going on behind my house in a year than can possibly be needed. The sounds of mowers and blowers starts at 8 am and mercifully ends in the afternoon. Between that and the jet noise you will want to have tolerance for industrial noise pollution. Depending on who is hired as property manager and how busy they are, as a resident you may find yourself the subject of a bad report card, citing various infractions, like need to power wash, paint, weed, clear off the porch, paint a mailbox, repair, replace, whatever the "inspector" notes on their rounds. This can be a bit of a hassle as it usually comes just when something else is going on, like illness and death, and most homeowners will agree there is nothing as chilling as the dreaded homeowner report card. But many homeowners appreciate the regimentation and requirements of a rigid homeowners association when it comes to home values, home sales and attracting renters. The elementary school is the biggest draw to this development for young families. With two children who attended the local school for all grades there, it is quite a nice perk. It is a very highly rated school and of course it would be given the income and demographic of the residents. Walking paths, bike lanes, tennis courts, children's play area and other amenities are available for all residents to enjoy. Lakes and wooded areas provide a nice view of nature despite the close proximity of many of the houses. I recommend Coventry as a lovely place to raise a family and as the neighborhood has aged more residents have seen their families grow and find themselves in retirement here as I have. If I knew 30 years ago what I know now, I would have not have purchased in a planned community overseen by a homeowners association. But there is a large demographic of homeowners and renters who appreciate all that a homeowners association and covenants can enforce. For them, this is is the perfect community.

Avoid This Place at All Costs…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. This apartment complex is an absolute nightmare. Four year lease holder and I can say this place has gone from decent to horrible. First, the plumbing is horrendous. I've had to flush other people's poop from different apartments--yes, you read that right. The construction is so poor that bugs and insects find their way inside with no problem. On top of that, insulation and air circulation are terrible, meaning your AC is useless in some rooms while others feel like a freezer. The parking rules? They only apply to certain residents, so don't expect fairness there. Trash is always piled up around the dumpsters instead of inside them, and the so-called "Trash Fairies" charge extra fees but don't actually improve the situation. Speaking of filth, duck poop is everywhere, and if that's not enough, random dead animals have shown up (and disappeared) on the second level. Expect cold showers if more than one person in your apartment needs hot water. And don't bother calling maintenance--they know just as much as you do and will either ignore your request or make things worse. Don't bother mentioning your active military, they will still treat you like any other resident and charge you early termination fees, and take your whole security deposit for any reason at all. This place is a joke, and management clearly doesn't care. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

The only negative was that they would go into your apartment unannounced. Laws changed and they couldn't do that anymore. I moved back in in 2023 and had a much different experience. The complex says that they have security cameras. That's not true. They don't work. Someone slashed tires in the complex and they didn't cooperate with police and the cameras were not even working. The apartments are older and many of the systems are starting to fail. Most of the time the community washer and dryer did not work. And there were constant issues with the heating/cooling systems. They never did fix the issue correctly. It is cheaper than most places in VB because the buildings are older and there are electrical issues. I saw where someone said they were hosed on their move out. I had a similar experience. I put in my 60 day notice and I ended up moving out early. There was a snowstorm that was causing issues with moving and they told me I had to be out one way or another because they had re-rented the apartment already without notifying me. They told me they would reimburse me for what rent was left over along with the security deposit. Thankfully, the weather situation was not as bad as predicted. They ended up claiming much of the same as another recent post that is listed here and charged for replacing the rugs. Out of $1300 owed, they racked up my damages to be more than $1200. This place is a ripoff and has gone downhill. You can find apartments in much better condition with better service. And if you are a current resident, make sure you opt to have the carpet cleaned by a reputable cleaner if your own. They say they'll only charge you $75 but that is a lie.

I have to say everytime I drive through the front entrance I feel "at home". The complex itself is beautiful. None of the buildings are in straight rows, angled for aesthetics, red brick, curved sidewalks with great architectural features not typically seen on apartments in this area. Even the streetlights are beautiful! Lots of green open space and mature trees everywhere. Landscaping is very well maintained. Very quiet. Common areas are spotless. Really reminds me of some of the upscale, older, complexes around D.C.. The complex is off the beaten track, tucked away behind the historic Frances Land house. Complex has one way in, one way out and is completely surrounded by a security fence. Amentities are wonderful. Dog park, a gym so nice I cancelled my paid gym membership, plenty of parking, beautiful pool. My apartment patio faces the pool and last summer I felt like I was living in a resort. There is a charcoal BBQ about 15 feet from my patio which I use frequently during warm weather. Love to sit on my patio and eat dinner or just chill out, as shown in the picture with the pool in the background. Parking is aundant. Maintenance is fantastic. I've never waited more than a few hours for someone to respond. Management really tries hard with special events such as food trucks, annual yard sale for residents, always having some sort of food event in the office (such as muffins on National Muffin Day), holiday events, etc. Enough said....just come check in out.
