Also, the bus drivers on this route seem to always stop and wait for me when they see me hauling ass, sprinting for the bus from half a block down the road. It's pretty quick and doesn't stop as much as the Dufferin bus, which is often rammed too full of passengers.

When 63 fails - it fails miserably: no buses for 30 minutes (on a frequent service line), buses bunching up 3+ at a time (resulting in large gaps in service), buses too full to get on, etc. For someone who rides the 63 daily, it works more than it doesn't - however it has a tendency of not working at the worst possible moments (Murphy's Law). Drivers usually are nice and manage the riders well.

Don Mills Subway Station is my default station whenever I go downtown for my Yelp adventure…read more I know it is a hassle to change train to Yonge Subway line at Yonge and Sheppard. But free parking from 9:30 AM is a no brainer for me if I need to go downtown for lunch... Finch Station though more convenient but free parking is not until after 3 pm! Of course, Don Mills has covered parking, this is good for both summer and winter as my car would never be boiling hot or covered in a blanket of snow. Being right next to Fairview Mall also really convenient if you want to do some shopping or just get a coffee or a quick bite!

Living in suburbia where I truly need a car, I don't use the TTC as often as when I lived and grew up in Toronto. However, I do dip down and drive along Dundas Street East and West whenever I have the chance. I like to reminisce and figure out where things are. The 505 Dundas streetcar brings back a lot of memories. I grew up in the Beaches. On Sundays, my mom and I would often take the 501 streetcar westbound, and take either the 504 or 505 streetcar northbound to Chinatown at Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street East. It depended on weather and how energetic we were to walk. We got groceries and baked goods, which likely moulded me into the food-loving person that I am. I also became quite the commuter, knowing when to get a transfer and timing its expiration time as I planned my stops along the way. Growing up, I attended Cantonese classes on Saturdays for years. For seven years, I attended a private school on First Avenue around this Chinatown. I then took Cantonese classes near Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street West. Taking the 505 streetcar to get to and from school was cool and essential. I studied on the streetcar. I also took it to go shopping at the Eaton Centre afterwards. Sometimes, I ended up walking over there. This route hasn't changed much over the years. The streetcar runs between Broadview and Dundas West subway stations. Ah, fond memories! The 26 Dupont bus is a useful bus that plays a noteworthy role in west-end Toronto. About a…read morekilometre to the south of the Dupont Street that gives the bus its name is the west-east Bloor Street and the associated Bloor-Danforth subway, while about a kilometre to the north is St. Clair West with its dedicated streetcar routes The purpose of the Dupont bus is to fill the gap between Bloor and St. Clair. The route isn't the busiest, with buses making their way west from St. George station and east from Jane station three or four times an hour between 5 am and 10 pm. Departing from St. George station (my usual stop when I'm taking the bus), the bus travels north along Bedford to Dupont Street, west along Dupont's entire length to Dundas West and Dupont's continuation Annette Street, finally heading south on Jane Street to Jane station. It's a perfectly serviceable route, during weekdays and in the time period I mentioned. Sometimes I commute home using this bus, enjoying the Bartlett Avenue stop just a dozen metres from my laneway. I have noticed that on weekdays, the buses come into St. George station a few minutes before or after their stated times, but generally they're good. There are two serious problems with the route. 1. On weekends, the buses do not follow anything close to their listed schedules. I could have waited a half-hour for a bus to come past its stated time of arrival, not seeing a bus until I see one passing as I almost reached my destination on foot and sometimes not even then. 2. A couple of years ago, the 26 Dupont bus stopped running after 10 o'clock, on account of a lack of passengers. This is something I can't fault very much the TTC for doing, but still, it'd be nice if it ran until midnight,

The newest station on line 1 north of the Wilson Yards and currently the most northern station on…read morethe Spadina side of line 1 also the terminus station on the west side as well. The previous terminus (Wilson) has the multiple parking lots and much more parking since it was the previous end of the line just on the other side of the 401 at the much busy Yorkdale complex. Downsview station located at the south east corner of Allen and Sheppard is where Sheppard makes that dramatic detour around the Downsview airport runway near Chesswood. This station does have a north side entrance as well as a kiss and ride pickup area with actual parking spots instead of a rotary type hub like Finch or Kipling. Access to the parking and drop off area is accessible at the access road just east of Allen on the south side of Sheppard and access to just the parking lot is also available on the east side of Allen south of Sheppard. The parking lot at Downsview seems rather small but with room to grow if needed. Now that Downsview will no longer be the terminus station for this leg of line 1 after the extension to Vaughan is complete it's yet to be determined if more parking is even required. The station is has a large surface area for buses on both sides of the bus depot. The bus depot services quite a few bus routes from here: 84 Sheppard West begins west of Sheppard station (at Yonge) along Sheppard and crosses at Allen while remains on Sheppard to Weston road where it loops back around at Bradstock and Rivalda before heading back east. 101 Downsview Park is a very short route that simply goes around the Sheppard hump turns left on John Drury to Carl Hall road into the park. 104 Faywood runs between Downsview and Wilson stations. It takes a route from Wilson from Ansford to Faywood which turns into Wilmington north of Sheppard to Finch Ave, goes west to Dufferin and then turns to Kennard and down to Wilson Heights and then back to Sheppard to Downview station. 105 Dufferin North runs into Vaughan and requires additional fare when north of Steeles avenue. This route runs north on Dufferin and loops at Confederation parkway and then east on Rutherford road before turning back south again. 106 York University runs west along the Sheppard hump and then north on Sentinel road to York University main campus in a clockwise direction meeting The Pond road at six o'clock and Ian Macdonald before turning back to Sentinel going south. 107 Keele North has many variants but for the most part the 107C is the main route which makes its way west along the Sheppard hump through the industrial area near Tuscan Gate toe Keele and then north as far as Teston road in Vaughan. Same as the 105 additional fare is required north of Steeles avenue. 108 Downsview main run 108B runs west on the Sheppard hump to Arleta avenue and up Driftwood north of Finch to Strong Court and then briefly along Jane street before turning right back onto Driftwood again before heading south bound. 117 Alness runs up Allen/Dufferin to a dedicated bus roadway that runs parallel and north of Finch Ave to Alness up to Steeles and bakc down Dufferin. This route around the roadway and Alness runs clockwise before 3pm and counter clockwise after 3pm. As for the train platform it's long and wide with an arched roof. The trains on line 1 of course are wider than the Bloor/Danforth line 2 but the design of this station lends to more space and feels much more open than a majority of the older stations in the TTC system.

The ceilings are high, the decor is modern, and there is tons of space. Even when the station is packed you still feel like you have room to breathe. The convenience store here is an actual store that you can walk into, unlike the counter style stores at most stations.

The station helps add to the character of the immediate surrounding area of heritage of the unique (albeit small) city centre. It has GO train service, and recently they've added all-day, 2-way service on weekdays during business hours which is great. The GO bus terminal is right beside with several routes offered. The train station serves as a VIA rail station and you can get to places like Montreal from this station. Tip: Closer to the bus station is The Village Bake Shop, which is a great place to get coffee, baked goods and such. You'd need to set aside a few extra minutes to go on a run there if you were getting on the train however. One frustrating thing, and for all GO stations for that matter, are the ridiculously slow ticket machines. There's a stress that cannot be compared to anything else when you hear the train rolling in and the machine takes half a minute just to bring up 'Union' station on the search. Practically a couple minutes just to get your ticket.

Looking forward to it being evenings and weekends if that cargo bypass ever gets built! Anyhow -- the station is well organized and has elevators for those who aren't able to use stairs, and ample signage so commuters don't get lost. I recommend using your Presto card instead of the ticket machines if you are able, because the machines are super clunky. That's everybody though, not just this station. There's lots of free surface parking if you need it, but Brampton transit has many buses that go to Brampton Bus Terminal/Brampton GO so you can ditch the car entirely if you want! The area has a lot of good shops around it, but there are a few dodgy bits, so keep aware of your surroundings.

It's worth doing the local up to Steeles once... Only one. I did it many times when I used to work up near York U. Jane is probably one of the worst streets at Rush hour. It needs better transit. Light rail anyone? Forget I said anything Another weird thing about the station is that the bus bay is outside the station proper so remember to tap your presto or take a transfer or risk getting dinged again.

As the central terminal for the sixth largest city in Canada, it does its job as needed. Buses…read moregenerally flow in and out smoothly, and there are clearly marked crosswalks for those coming from the GO Transit side. Aside from the occasional jaywalker, it's hard to jaywalk Rathburn Road anyway since it's busy at almost all times. One complaint I do have is the size of the terminal. Even with the expansion a few years back it's still too small for the amount of bus traffic it gets. Some of the bays are shared amongst 4 or more routes, which gets quite messy during rush hour when buses are more frequent. Also, some of the busier routes are located too far away from the indoor waiting area, for example routes 110 and 502, which are located all the way on Rathburn Road itself. It gets quite chilly waiting over there in winter (or any cold day for that matter). Hopefully with the BRT coming into the terminal some changes can be done in terms of configurations.
