You can also put tokens in the new slots. This station was built in the 70s. It's close to my granny's house. The Lawrence Square mall is just right across the street from there. Sometimes we park there and walk to the subway station. It's just one subway stop away from Yorkdale. Sometimes the buses get crowded. I go on the 52 bus that goes from the station to Bathurst Street. When I go to the Columbus Centre myself, I take the bus from Lawrence and Bathurst to the station, then take another bus to the Dufferin exit, and then I walk to the Columbus Centre from there. I see these Treviso condominiums all the time from the bus.

Was heading on a Northbound train…read morefrom St. Andrews to Finch, but due to maintenance had re-routed from Union back Southbound and had to get off at St. George to then switch to another Bloor-Yongye line. Upon getting to St. George, the station was filled with people scrambling all around in different directions 3x more than usual, overheard a lot of the red-vested TTC help attendants getting pretty overwhelmed and tired of the same questions from commuters wondering when the next train would come and how the medical emergency that stopped the first train would be resolved. I think there's real opportunity to consider more service design into transportation in Toronto. This would ultimately prevent situations like these from happening. (Ie. More signs and clearer messaging to inform riders on statuses, map improvements, ACCESSIBILITY, etc.)

How do I review this station without letting my disdain for the TTC get in the way? Hmmm…read more.. How about I just tell you about the station? In case you don't know St. George (I like to call him San Jorge) is the patron saint of jolly old England lad (and lasses). Did you know if the other two saint stations not named St. Clair are also patron saints of Ireland and Scotland? That's right Saint Patrick (aka San Patrizio) and Saint Andrew (San Andreas). Now stay with me because this will make your mind explode if you haven't already fallen asleep... If you were to combine the flags of St. George (red cross over white), St. Andrew (white cross over blue) and St Patrick (red X over white) you get the Union Jack flag aka the flag of the United Kingdom? OK enough of the history BS. I made that all up... actually no I didn't I'm just making sure you haven't lost interest just yet while I play this shell game of writing things completely irrelevant to St. George. So this station is special in a sense that it is one of the main interchange stations in all of the TTC system. In rankings of importance it's right up there and probably 3rd just behind Union (first) and Bloor/Yonge (second) in my personal ranking system of things. I like ranking things don't ask me why but ya I consider this station 3rd. This station is physically on the north side of Bloor Street between Prince Arthur and Bloor directly behind the OISE building of U of T (252 Bloor W). There are 2 entrances/exits while one faces St. George itself and the other is at Bedford. This station is on 3 levels. Ground level is where you enter/exit, buy tokens and such. The next level down is the 1 line (yellow line) which runs on the Spadina/University side (Downsview endpoint) and the Yonge side (Finch endpoint). This line runs right through the core of downtown from Bloor south through Queens Park and down University Ave to Union station before turning back up Yonge Street going all the way up to Finch Ave. This line is basically known as the "north-south" line and has recently been given the designation as "1" in the TTC's elaborate naming system. The next level down is the level for access to the Bloor Danforth line also known as "2" or if you are into colors it can also be called the green line. This is essentially your east west line that runs from Kipling to Kennedy. Really though nobody here calls any of these lines here by colors. This isn't Boston and the numbers thing is new but this isn't New York either. We don't have enough lines to be getting into letters either. Let's just say "3" should be part of "2" and "4" shouldn't even exist. San Jorge station is an important station because as far as interchange stations goes this is one of them and it can get very busy here.

I rode the 65 Parliament bus route into the station. There long platform that is the length of 3 busses. The platform has a roof over it but is open on one side to the elements. The platform area looks old. There is a single entrance at one end to the subway station and exit. This review is just for the subway station. The entrance is semicircular with multiple doors. You have to go down to reach the subway platforms or go straight to the bus platform. I didn't see any elevators for wheelchair accessibility. I've only been to this subway station once in my life and it was just 2 evenings ago…read more The funny thing about this station is that immediately surrounding the station is pretty much nothing. Through the actual exterior structure itself the shelter type wall practically acts as a panoramic see-through in which you can see the area near Rosedale valley facing south. Looking north towards the facing Mount Pleasant it's very green and spaced out. I don't get the feeling of being overcrowded at this station and it seems almost quiet and peaceful being recessed from Bloor enough that you feel as if you're on an island. The bus platform seems much longer than it should be and was probably busier at one point but currently there's only 2 buses that run out of this station. They are the 65 Parliament and the 94 Wellesley. The 94 runs east and west out of Wellesley station. The west part goes to Ossington via Wellesley, Queens Park and Hoskin/Harbord to Ossington then to the Bloor line. The eastern route goes from Wellesley to Parliament then up to Bloor and Castle Frank station. The 65 Parliament runs south from Castle Frank to Bloor and takes Parliament all the way down to the Esplanade and loops back up towards Castle Frank again. The buses themselves don't seem to run very frequently on the evenings on Saturday (about one every 20 minutes or so). Castle Frank is the last Bloor street station going east before crossing the Don Valley towards Broadview. Crossing the bridge between Castle Frank and Broadview will give you a good view of the Don Valley from the Prince Edward (Bloor) viaduct bridge.

Getting from the arrival area at the airport to the express train is a long and winding walk. But…read moreit is well signed, and once we got there, staffed with friendly people to help the clueless. Pay for the ticket at the kiosk just before the platform to save a few dollars. You can use your credit card to pay, swipe to get in, and then swipe to get out once you exit the train. Union Station is the last stop, and from there you can easily connect to the subway. Once you know how to do it, this is probably the least stressful and most economic way to reach the city. And the most environmentally friendly too!

Bloor-Yonge subway station. It's a major subway interchange between lines 1 (Yonge-University) and…read more2 (Bloor-Danforth). I grew up knowing these subway routes without numbers. It was the Yonge-University-Spadina and Bloor-Danforth lines. You then had the Scarborough LRT (rest in transit peace) and the Sheppard line. As much as I like numbers, I'm putting myself in the shoes of a visitor. Which would be more meaningful? I'm not sure. What I think is that this subway station may feel overwhelming to a newbie. It's always busy. The craziness is at its peak during rush hour. Everyone needs to walk fast and get somewhere. I feel like it's a stampede to a certain extent. As someone who often dropped by this station growing up, it wasn't confusing. I recently took the TTC to get to this station on line 2. It's a shared platform between the eastbound and westbound trains when you arrive on line 2. I had to exit to get onto Bloor Street East. The exit that I'm used to faces Yonge Street. I used to visit the Toronto Reference Library across the street often when I was in high school and university. I used this exit to reminisce. There are a bunch of ways to get in and out of this station. Going home, I entered from Bloor Street East through the Hudson's Bay Centre. I don't really know if that's the correct name of the underground shopping concourse. Hudson's Bay is gone, which is eerie. We have Eaton's Centre without Eaton's. Hey, why not Hudson's Bay Centre without Hudson's Bay? I spent hours walking around the concourse as a student. There used to be a Felix and Norton. It smelled so good. I loved cookies, especially freshly baked ones. I still do! I can still picture the paper transfer dispensers with the red round button. They are long gone. There are lots of PRESTO kiosks and gates instead. One of the gates did not recognize my PRESTO card. Luckily, I moved to a different one and I was fine. Signage is clear to get to the right subway line. There are also TTC employees ready to help you, which I liked. There are four floors to this station. I took a combination of stairs and escalators while I was here to move between two floors. There are elevators for those who need to use them, but I can't comment on how effective they are. Most major TTC subway stations have washrooms. This station does. I have never had the need to use the women's. I arrived at this station at roughly 11:30 am on a Monday. I left the area roughly 2.5 hours later. Trains were running on time. I managed to get a seat both ways. It was a good time to be a commuter. My cell phone worked fine on the platform. It was cool. It was nice returning to this station. I grew up as a commuter living in the Beaches. It was nice to return to those roots for a brief period before I got to Victoria Park station, hopped in my car, and headed to the suburbs. (40)

Lol It's a vibrant station where people transfer from all directions. It's a station where you will go up and down the stairs to get to the trains. It's a station where you can dance to live music, but you'd have to fight with the ever moving crowd for space. It's a station where you can buy snacks for companionship while traveling. It's a station where millions of stories come and go. Just like "blue-onion".

Last Friday, I decided to take the GO train from Pickering GO station to Exhibition GO station for the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), which is also affectionally called The Ex. I live in Markham. If I were to take the TTC, my commute would be at least 1.5 hours with four transfers to get to The Ex. I thought that a direct GO train ride would be better and it was. It took an hour. What can be confusing is how Lakeshore East and Lakeshore West routes work for a major event like The Ex. I found that what the GO Transit site was saying versus what was actually happening on this line were different. When The Ex is happening, Lakeshore West runs from Durham College Oshawa GO to Union station. The train stops for a bit, as Union station is a hub, and then continues west to Exhibition GO. It's out of convenience for tourists and locals alike for such an event, which I appreciate! When there isn't an event like FIFA or The Ex, if you are taking Lakeshore West, it stops at Union station and then goes back east, becoming Lakeshore East. If you want to continue going west, you need to transfer to a different train platform and take Lakeshore West that continues westbound. A bit weird. It is what it is. Similarly, if you are taking Lakeshore West eastbound and there isn't an event like The Ex happening, it stops at Union station. You need to transfer to get the Lakeshore East train to get you eastbound. My experience was that I took the Lakeshore West train from Pickering GO station to Exhibition GO station. The conductor made an announcement before we stopped at Union station, saying that this train would briefly stop at Union before continuing westbound, stopping at all stops, including Exhibition GO. It was the clarity that I was seeking, although I knew that this train would continue westbound. I made the mistake of looking at the GO train schedule. It told me to transfer at Union station, which is the regular schedule without The Ex. The ride to Exhibition GO was pleasant. The train was delayed by five minutes right off the bat. It was minor and we got to Exhibition GO five five minutes later than usual as a result. Everyone left the train and headed down to the main CNE exit in an orderly, civil fashion. It was nice to see. This station has a lot of stairs and three elevators. Most folks took the former. Families with strollers or folks in wheelchairs did the latter. I was trying to figure out where to tap my PRESTO card to conclude my trip. GO Transit did a good job having a ton of PRESTO machines when you exit the station and head directly to the entrance to The Ex. I tapped and felt accomplished that I completed my trip. Heading home, I entered Exhibition GO station and immediately tapped my PRESTO card. I looked at the screen and needed platform 4, which was in front of me. I took the Lakeshore East train from platform 4. Passengers left the train first. We then boarded in a civilized manner once again. My ride back to Pickering was smooth. This train did stop briefly at Union station. The conductor announced it and did a countdown four minutes before the train would continue eastbound. I hadn't taken any GO train since I last worked at Union station many moons ago. It was nice to hear that countdown again. Exhibition GO station has four tracks: - Tracks 1 and 2 are on the north side of the station. It handles westbound traffic to Mississauga, Oakville, and Hamilton. - Track 3 is an inner bypass track. - Track 4 is the south platform handling eastbound traffic to Union station (normal) and beyond if there's a major event happening, like The Ex. Other than the weird confusion between the regular schedule on GO Transit's online site versus what I had experienced heading to this station, I had a wonderful experience taking the train to and from Exhibition GO. I'd do it again when I want to go to The Ex. (378)

It's a small airport mainly for flight training and private flying. The air traffic control are…read moregreat, and really look after you, but the airport management seem to really be focused on limiting the amount of flying you can do, particularly at weekends. I don't get why they want to stop aircraft from using an airport! There are no scheduled flights, which is a shame. With so many people living this side of Toronto, and the 401 being so horrid for driving to Pearson, it would be great to get some regular flights out of Oshawa.
