She simply said they were declining the case and cancelling my appointment -- zero explanation, zero courtesy. When I asked why, she sent an equally terse reply that they had no capacity. In that email was reproduced THE ENTIRE SUMMARY OF MY CASE, unencrypted, straight from the intake form for any 14yo hacker to read, even as the secretary explicitly assured me that the form was encrypted. This is about as basic, preventable, and inexcusable as security flaws get, and as a computer scientist I was appalled that any reputable business -- to say nothing of a licensed attorney bound by strict confidentiality rules -- would tolerate it. Given the highly delicate nature of my case, I was also horrified, and I certainly felt betrayed. And yet I remained professional and calm in my reply. Catherine, clearly losing patience with me, sent a one-sentence generic "apology" for the "inconvenience" and wishing me the best. Excuse me? I trusted your firm with a delicate matter, and if Catherine Dooley thinks a breach of that trust is merely "inconvenient" then she needs to seek another kind of living and so does the person responsible on the IT end.
