I've been meaning to write this review for a long time, but wanted to be sure my concerns were valid before sharing them. After meeting with other professionals and learning more about pediatric airway health, I feel ready to share my experience at Lansdowne Dental Care with Dr. Tracey Nguyen. When my son was two years old, I noticed that he snored while sleeping. My instincts told me something wasn't right, so I began learning about airway and obstructive breathing issues in children. In my search for help, I found Dr. Nguyen, whose background in children's airway and sleep made me feel confident she would guide us in the right direction. My son was 3.5 when we went to see her. Before our visit, the office required a $500 nonrefundable fee, which I paid, trusting that the expertise would be worth it. We traveled from Rockville, Maryland to Leesburg with our toddler and infant for the appointment. At the visit, a technician took an intraoral scan (which my son had already completed earlier that year with his regular dentist). Dr. Nguyen came in examined my son's mouth briefly and mentioned he might have a long soft palate, then told us to come back when he was five. Panicked, I asked her different interventions I have read about. I asked about myofunctional therapy and intervention devices like the Myo Munchee or Tooth Pillow, but she said I could try them "if I wanted." The same went for a sleep study--she said I could do it "if I wanted" and could contact any facility myself. She even suggested canceling our ENT appointment the next day because she thought my son might not cooperate. Overall, I left feeling that we were given no clear direction, plan, or professional guidance. Her tone and responses gave the impression that it was up to me to experiment and figure things out. At one point, a staff member handed me an in-home sleep study device (seemingly without Dr. Nguyen's direct involvement). I took it hoping to make something of the visit, but after returning the device (shipped it through mail), we never heard back from the office. When I asked about the fee, Dr. Nguyen said it was for her "time and knowledge," but I left unsure what knowledge had been provided. Thankfully, I did not cancel the ENT appointment. X-rays showed my son had enlarged adenoids, and surgery to remove them made a noticeable improvement in his breathing and sleep. Later, I connected with other airway professionals who provided a much clearer path forward, including identifying lip and buccal ties, starting myofunctional therapy, and discussing possible expansion treatment. Interestingly, a friend whose a dentist that was interested learning about airway health attended one of Dr. Nguyen's seminars on pediatric airway, where she emphasized the importance of early intervention. That made it even more confusing that, in our case, we were told simply to wait until he was older. Dr. Nguyen may be a fine general dentist, but based on my experience, I would not recommend her for pediatric airway or sleep concerns. Parents seeking help in this specialized area deserve clear direction, thorough evaluation, and actionable next steps--none of which we received. unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. I found her to come across as a bit rude, which made it difficult to have a comfortable conversation about my dental concerns. It seemed like she wasn't open to my questions and lacked the expertise I expected regarding orthodontics, considering that's not her specialty as a general dentist. Dr. Nguyen and staff are phenomenal! I have avoided Dentists for years because of an exaggerated gag reflex and fear of Dental procedures because of it. The very talented Dr. Nguyen and her most professional staff did everything they could possibly do to accommodate me and make me feel comfortable during my visit. I never felt any pain during my treatment and I wasn't ever shamed for avoiding Dental visits for so many years. Dr. Nguyen treated me with the utmost respect and completed my teeth cleaning and fillings before I even realized she had finished. I've even scheduled a follow up treatment plan only because the first visit went so well. That speaks volumes coming from me. You won't find a more skilled and professional Dentist in Northern VA, and her wonderful personality and gentle mannerisms only make the experience that much easier. Lansdowne Dental Care is, by far, the best! The entire staff is so friendly and pleasant to be around. As for Dr. Nguyen, her photo should be in the dictionary next to the word "awesome"! My (18-year old) daughter had a cleaning last summer and was told she had four cavities (@ $270 a piece). I left without scheduling an appointment (thankfully). She went to a new dentist last week to have the cavities filled before she headed back to school. She was told that she, in fact, did NOT have ANY cavities and was sold a $10 tube of (heavy duty) fluoride toothpaste. My son was told he had a serious gum disease and they recommended treatment immediately. I did not schedule. I think he's had one cavity in his 22 years. His teeth are perfect. I also have healthy teeth but was told I didn't floss well enough and was told I NEEDED to buy a Waterpik... and, of course, they had plenty to sell me. They didn't seem to care much about us other than to sell whatever treatment they could .. or we'd be doomed! read more

I was recommended to go to Lansdowne Dental Care after moving into the Leesburg area by many of my coworkers. They didn't give much detail to why they preferred this office, but they simply said that I would not be disappointed. I have never been a fan of the dentist so I decided to simply try it out and see how it would go. Without fail, they not only met my expectations but exceeded them. I've been pleased since day one and I would gladly recommend anyone else. Something that stood out to me the most was how they have a complete grasp of technology to better the patient experience, and I love that. I was impressed with everything they were able to inform me of and show me on the computer screens at the dentist chair and through the use of the camera projecting onto the screen. They also offer headphones and iPads while waiting for the dentist to finish an exam or even just to listen to music while they work on your teeth. This has really impressed me. Community involvement is another plus and they are constantly holding happy hours or gatherings at local restaurants to give back to the patients by ways of gifts or dental treatments. I recently made the decision to try the Invisalign treatment and its been wonderful. The office has really handled it well and they've made it so easy for me. One of the best things you could honestly say about a dentist office is how it makes you feel emotionally. Like I stated before, I could never say I truly enjoyed a dentist visit but the ladies in the office have completely changed my outlook and feeling. I am no longer dreading the experience but now enjoying my visits. They are very welcoming from the moment you walk in the door and always catering to your needs. There just aren't enough positive adjectives to describe Dr. Nguyen and her staff. I am so happy that I found a dentist that treats me like a patient and not an insurance claim. Everybody in that office is incredibly friendly. Communication between the staff and patient is the best I have experienced. I have always had a great experience with the LDC staff. They are all very courteous and personable, taking time to talk with you, get to know you, and help you understand exactly what options you have. Apparently I have the most sensitive nerves, and required an extra dose of anesthetic when getting a filling. Dr. Nguyen was extremely patient and said to let her know if I felt ANY discomfort whatsoever. I've been to numerous dentists in my day including my own Uncle and I can tell you that I've always gone reluctantly. That's all in the past(sorry Uncle!). Any dentist that tells me I don't have to listen to an endless drill and can use a laser for a pain free cavity fill has my vote. I should also mention that the entire staff is lovely and having my teeth cleaned was not only painless but quick and it had been a long while since the last cleaning. I am so glad that a co-worker recommended Lansdowne Dental Care. Dr. Tracey is the best dentist I've ever had, and the office staff is wonderful! If you're a big wimp, she's very gentle. She will explain all of your options, pros and cons, and lets you know the cost ahead of time. Many dentists just do whatever your insurance will pay for, but Dr. Tracey wants you to have the best result possible. Though the office is usually busy, she and her staff will take the time to answer all your questions and make you feel comfortable. She also recommended an awesome oral surgeon. I've been to several dentists in the last few years and I am so grateful I found Dr. Nguyen. Not only has her office staff been so friendly and helpful, she is so gentle and very personable. I never feel like I am rushed or not given enough time to have her answer all of my questions. And I always have a lot of questions. If I wanted to contact her about any concerns, she always returns my calls herself, not like some of my past dentists. I always feel important, like I am the only patient. Our whole family goes to lansdowne dental and we love Dr. Nguyen and her whole staff. They really make you feel like family as soon as you walk in. I've been going to Dr. Nguyen for many years so I'm not sure why the other reviewer said she was just out of dental school. Looking around her office, I know that Dr. Nguyen has received many accolades and even a dental fellowship. But based on my personal experience, I will keep returning to Dr. Nguyen and referring all my friends and family. Dr. Nguyen always listens to my questions and concerns, and gives me all my options and is very patient. She is great with kids too. My 3-year old daughter has never enjoyed brushing her teeth - sometimes it's a battle trying to brush her teeth. But she let Dr. Nguyen and the hygienist exam and clean her teeth on her first visit! They really took their time to make my daughter feel comfortable and they showed her all the cool tools they would be working with on her teeth, and I could sense she immediately felt at ease. read more

First I was told I had a cavity three years ago. I decided to get a second opinion. Two other dentists examined me and neither found a cavity. My decision was a direct result of Dr. Nguyen telling my wife to get three consecutive crowns - more than $1,000 each out of pocket - around the same time. In addition, my wives crowns continue to fall out. Each time, it's another trip to Dr. Nguyen and another $800 - $1,200. I strongly suggest getting a second opinion for any work suggested by this office. read more
