After meeting with other professionals and learning more about pediatric airway health, I feel ready to share my experience at Lansdowne Dental Care with Dr. Tracey Nguyen. When my son was two years old, I noticed that he snored while sleeping. My instincts told me something wasn't right, so I began learning about airway and obstructive breathing issues in children. In my search for help, I found Dr. Nguyen, whose background in children's airway and sleep made me feel confident she would guide us in the right direction. My son was 3.5 when we went to see her. Before our visit, the office required a $500 nonrefundable fee, which I paid, trusting that the expertise would be worth it. We traveled from Rockville, Maryland to Leesburg with our toddler and infant for the appointment. At the visit, a technician took an intraoral scan (which my son had already completed earlier that year with his regular dentist). Dr. Nguyen came in examined my son's mouth briefly and mentioned he might have a long soft palate, then told us to come back when he was five. Panicked, I asked her different interventions I have read about. I asked about myofunctional therapy and intervention devices like the Myo Munchee or Tooth Pillow, but she said I could try them "if I wanted." The same went for a sleep study--she said I could do it "if I wanted" and could contact any facility myself. She even suggested canceling our ENT appointment the next day because she thought my son might not cooperate. Overall, I left feeling that we were given no clear direction, plan, or professional guidance. Her tone and responses gave the impression that it was up to me to experiment and figure things out. At one point, a staff member handed me an in-home sleep study device (seemingly without Dr. Nguyen's direct involvement). I took it hoping to make something of the visit, but after returning the device (shipped it through mail), we never heard back from the office. When I asked about the fee, Dr. Nguyen said it was for her "time and knowledge," but I left unsure what knowledge had been provided. Thankfully, I did not cancel the ENT appointment. X-rays showed my son had enlarged adenoids, and surgery to remove them made a noticeable improvement in his breathing and sleep. Later, I connected with other airway professionals who provided a much clearer path forward, including identifying lip and buccal ties, starting myofunctional therapy, and discussing possible expansion treatment. Interestingly, a friend whose a dentist that was interested learning about airway health attended one of Dr. Nguyen's seminars on pediatric airway, where she emphasized the importance of early intervention. That made it even more confusing that, in our case, we were told simply to wait until he was older. Dr. Nguyen may be a fine general dentist, but based on my experience, I would not recommend her for pediatric airway or sleep concerns. Parents seeking help in this specialized area deserve clear direction, thorough evaluation, and actionable next steps--none of which we received. I have had some poor experiences with dental work in the past, so I was very nervous to go to a new dental office. I had a great experience during my intake appointment with Dr. Ava and dental assistant Marjan. Marjan was really reassuring when I told her I felt anxious about my exam. Dr. Ava did a thorough exam and checked in to see how I was feeling throughout it. After my exam, dental hygienist Christina did a fantastic job with my cleaning and got rid of some small staining I had on my bottom front teeth. I had two visits for my cavity fillings and received care from dental assistant Khalida, who was incredibly kind and comforting and Dr. Ava! Their reassurance and communication made me feel so calm during the filling process, which I was super nervous about. I felt absolutely zero pain during the procedure and left feeling genuinely excited to go back to get my remaining two cavities filled! My last appointment was with Dr. Ava and Marjan to get two fillings and a Curodont repair done for another cavity they found in my previous appointment. I felt very comfortable and like I could take a break at any point, if needed. They did a super thorough job with all cavities but especially the one cavity that has been a challenge for years and helped prevent me from needing a crown. Sully at the front desk was extremely pleasant to chat with after my fillings were done during the payment process. The person working with her who was new (didn't get his name) was also incredibly kind and helpful! Overall, I would 1000% recommend going to Leesburg Family Smiles for dental work and cleanings. Dr. Ava is phenomenal and I trust her completely in my dental care. Thank you to Dr. Ava, Marjan, Khalida, Christina, and Sully for turning a dental experience I was nervous about into something I look forward to coming back for in the future!

The waiting area is comfortable and inviting, and I appreciated the short wait time before being called back for my appointment. On this visit, I had Dental Assistant Shakila, whose calming and professional demeanor immediately put me at ease. I had an emergency issue when we were out of town last week. That dentist referred me to an oral surgeon. I opted to see a surgeon in my own home town of Leesburg. Based on family recommendations, I used this practice. The initial calls and checkin with staff was amazing. They are so professional and responsive and most importantly, so kind and understanding. My surgeon met with me first before the actual procedure since I was undergoing IV sedation. So many things to remember but the important part was the prescription for "Valium" that he agreed to give me. I hate anything dental and I go in kicking and screaming unless I am drugged. I'll come back once I've completed my procedure and healed enough to Followup on my review.

I needed immediate help before I ran into any real pain. I made my appointment with one of their other locations and on the way there I was contacted that another location, Stone Ridge & Dr. Itani, would be closer for me to go. Dr. Itani was extremely patient and kind. The staff was amazingly supportive, gentle, caring & kind. All of my dental anxiety vanished after Dr. Itani pulled that tooth as it could not be saved. Because of him and my success with finding him/this practice with YELP, I used YELP to also find my new dentist. Just shy of a year later I returned to have this area implanted. Such a great experience again that it is hard to put into words. If you have the worst fear or anxiety please do not hesitate to seek Dr. Itani or this practice out.

We also went to Dr. Rios because he is a friend and my dentist too. Dr. Rios said that the treatment the oral surgeon recommended would make the tooth die. He recommended a treatment and we went with that and the tooth lasted another 8 or 9 years. Eventually, the tooth got infected and had to be extracted when he was about 20 or 21. So then Dr. Rios did an implant and it's the best! Eventually, insurance covered just about the total cost. I have recommended Dr. Rios to other people and they go to him too!
