It starts when you sit in the dental chair and are greeted with a "comfort menu" of items you can ask for -- a stress ball, head phones, blankets and more. It continues when you meet the doctor, and he is personable and friendly. I admit it -- I'm not the best flosser. Okay, I'm awful at remembering. Could he tell? Yes. Did he chastise me? No. The friendly atmosphere, coupled with the fact that they take my insurance (MetLife Dental), will keep me coming back. They also offer invisalign. I really appreciate the fact they are willing to work with my FSA budget, allowing me to split the costs over 2018 and 2019 so that it could all come by pre-tax payments.

Let me restate some of my previous reviews - I have been a patient of the original dentist, Dr. Nelson for over 23 years and followed him when he moved to the current location. I have been a patient of Dr. Garcia for a little over a year and I am very pleased. He has helped me with an awful fear I developed of having dental work done. He's done two crowns and a root canal for me - so I know of what I speak. So, back to Yelp.... The negative review gives this practice a undeserved 1 star rating, because if a human read the review, rather than it being rated by an algorithm, it is very apparent that the reviewer was upset that the previous dentist left abruptly and didn't prepare the staff or the patients for the change in a timely manner. She rated the dentist and the office during their first difficult week, before the staff were even used to Dr. Garcia's name yet. So, I've been told that it is a computer algorithm that recommends ratings by several factors -it does not like one star or five star ratings, it does not recommend reviewers unless they have many reviews, especially reviews of varied stars, or if they are popular, etc. Yelp prides themselves on the fact that there is no human involved in the process to keep the system as unbiased as possible - but I say that there are times a rating must be read by a human, too. This is a glaring example of that. To think that someone needing a dentist in hurry, like I did when I broke my tooth, finding this rating and choosing another dentist based on one reviewers inconsiderate review. Dr. Garcia got me right in, he was able to take care of everything in his office, a one stop shop which is a far cry from what I experienced before. So, for the record, I give Dr. Garcia and his staff a 5 star rating, and Yelp a three star rating which will give Dr. Garcia a 4 - to please an algorithm so that by some chance this review will be recommended and help counter one woman's unfair review. What a mouthful...

After confirming the surgery date we were surprised to learn just days before that they had scheduled it incorrectly from the start, forcing us to drive an hour further to get a surgery date a day later then we hoped. Terrible communication and organization. Every interaction with them left us feeling frustrated. We do not plan on returning nor would I ever recommend this office.

I feel strongly that there are high-pressure sales for treatment that is not warranted. I also feel…read morestrongly that there are up charges that are not necessarily ethical. An example of this is being charged for a crown then also being charged for the lab fee for the crown as well as the desensitizing of the tooth prior to the crown being seated. The lab charge, as well as the sensitizing of the tooth are simply part of the crown expense and should not be additionally charged. I also found that this dental office does not honor the fees negotiated with specific dental insurance companies. Examples of this would be Delta Dental, MetLife, United Concordia, etc... have negotiated and contracted fees with dentist in the area and these dentist must honor the lower fees. At this dental office, they charge their fees and what the dental insurance does not cover your responsible for it all the way up to and beyond what was negotiated. Very unethical and actually potentially an issue with insurance companies as they are breaking their contractual agreement and over charging the patients who have no idea. If the dentist from this office would like to contact me, I would be happy to speak with them with respect to whatever I have put forth in this review as it is quite a concern for the area and patients should be aware of it.

I needed an implant for my upper tooth so I've been visiting different dentists to get the best quote/treatment plans but I ended up going with Dr. Chung because after some research, I found out not all implants are the same! At first I was tempted to go to the cheapest option but later I learned that's not the way to go when it comes to your teeth. Lol Dr. Chung doesn't seem to cut corners when it comes to the quality of materials used in his procedures. The materials he used for my implant was made from Switzerland and the cost of the procedure wasn't even that much more than the other dental office I went to. In fact, the final total ended up being lower because he didn't make me do all the other unnecessary treatments that the other office made me do. Overall, my experience at Lansdowne Dental Arts was extremely pleasant and I learned so much! Dr. Chung and his team were professional and knowledgeable, and I felt like I was in good hands throughout my visit. Dr. Ashton is by far the best dentist I've seen in over 30 years…read more First of all, Dr. Ashton is highly intelligent and was able to sort through my case expertly and quickly, with insights that made sense to me--alas! I went to Dr. Ashton as a 4th opinion for a tooth that had been mistreated by a few previous dentists, leaving me suffering with severe tooth pain for a few years, with a high risk of a root canal. Dr. Ashton used his 3D x-rays to show me exactly why that tooth was so vulnerable. He handled the tooth very conservatively, causing no pain, and also addressed every aspect of what I could do to minimize future dental issues. It's clear that Dr. Ashton keeps current on dental advances, from his 3D x-ray machine (I've only seen at universities like UCLA TMD department), to topical solutions for dry mouth. Why didn't any of the other many dentists or speech and language pathologists I've seen notice my severe dry mouth, which has contributed to my long-term tooth sensitivity, possibly my receded gums and swallowing difficulties too? (Dr. Ashton didn't make those claims but they seem to apply to me based on the improvement I feel already and some studies I've read since his opened my eyes too this issue.) I bet the severe dryness is part of why, if only one person at a dinner table has food stuck to their teeth, it's me. There is so much else that I can say in praise of Dr. Ashton. He is extremely caring and thorough, leaving no stone unturned in addressing my complex case. I don't think Dr. Ashton needs another raving review, but I felt compelled to share my experience.
