Kiki had massive rear leg injuries after losing a fight with a pickup truck. My husband and I rushed her to CSU -Vet hospital and at the appropriate time the incredible staff there (amazing place - kudus for another story) led us to Connie for the remainder of Kiki's initial recovery. Our dog had to spend over 2 months in care; most of which was spent with Connie in her home/facility. Our dog, like many of them at the Resort, required high level medical care and attention. Connie saw that she received that care from whatever source needed. I don't know how Connie does it but somehow all of her charges receive exactly what they need - medical and/or therapy attention - and equally important - love and hugs, and the ability to be a dog despite the problems and handicaps. When it was finally time for our girl to come home Kiki was on her way to healing and her spirit for living was stronger than ever. She thrived for another six years (during which Kiki had periodic visits with Connie and "friends") until a natural passing due to age. We visited CHR during the time Kiki was there and now, even without her, we visit our friend just to witness and marvel at what Connie brings to the lives of these precious patients. To watch Connie run a large number of her charges for their daily outings with no leashes, and yet have total control with only verbal commands, is astonishing. The dogs are joyous. These walks must be incredibly freeing to the dogs as they seem to momentarily escape from being aware of their physical challenges. My husband and I are forever indebted to what Connie did for our beloved Kiki. CHR homeplace is lovely, clean, cozy and spacious but not pretentious or fancy - what dog cares about that? What it provides is what I think most dogs care about - being safe and secure, feeling better, being stimulated and having fun, getting to stretch their legs and feel the sunshine - and feeling treasured while missing their families.

I brought my dog, Lupo, there during a medical emergency while we were traveling from North Carolina, and what followed was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. We were already in a state of panic, far from home, trying to make the best decisions we could. Despite that, there was a profound lack of communication, compassion, and transparency throughout his care. We were never offered the option to stay in any rooms, just to rest for a little. Being 45 minutes away while our dog was critically ill created unnecessary distance during the most important moments of his life. The most devastating part is that we were only contacted when things had already taken a severe turn, and that call was not a supportive update, but a frantic, high-pressure conversation where I felt like I was being almost yelled at that he needed to be euthanized immediately. There was no sense of guidance, no compassion just urgency without support. We were not called earlier as he declined, and we were not given a real opportunity to come and be with him in time. Because of this, I lost the chance to have any meaningful final moments with my dog. By the time we were involved, he had been intubated. That was not what I wanted unless it was absolutely necessary as a life-saving measure, and it ultimately robbed me of being able to hold him, comfort him, or say goodbye in a way that had any meaning. That is something I will carry with me forever. When we last saw him, he was placed all the way at the bottom of a cage. It felt impersonal and distressing given how critical his condition was. There was no sense that comfort or dignity in his final moments was being prioritized. To make matters worse, a necropsy (autopsy) was performed without our explicit consent. This was incredibly upsetting and felt like a violation during an already devastating time. The lack of clear communication and consent around something so significant is completely unacceptable. After his passing, the handling of his remains and the lack of communication continued to cause harm. Because of delays and inability to reach anyone, his body was not released to the memorial service we had chosen in time for us to receive his ashes before our flight home. We were forced to extend our stay, rebook flights, and incur additional expenses... all while grieving the loss of our baby. I understand this is a teaching hospital and that not every case has a positive outcome. But communication, compassion, and respect for both the patient and their family should never be optional. At no point did I feel supported, informed, or prioritized as his owner. Lupo was my world. He deserved better. And no family should have to go through what we experienced here. There was no compassion in here. There was only a severe urgency to give us a large bill.

I recently got a new princess, a princess peaches, and she her leg was injured in the last couple of weeks. I took her into Family and Friends vet clinic And the first visit was over $200 close to $250. They been sent me home with medication and told me to bring princess peaches back in five days. I said will there be another charge at that time they said approximately $35 at the most so I brought it back in five days and when she was finished, they said that will be $100 and I said absolutely not. I was quoted $35 or less. I am not paying $100. I have $40 here that's all I can pay. I have no money to buy them dog food. They're out of dog food I had to decide whether she was going to lose her foot or whether I could buy dog food so they gave me a $40 credit. The second time I brought her in I paid $40 and then they said OK we'll take that charge off so I've got a $40 credit so I brought her in today February 18, 2025. Dr. Robinson wasn't in The manager. Mark was I said I have no money to purchase food for them. They are out of dog food can I please have that over a payment of $40 back he said absolutely not you cannot have that back. I said would you please contact Dr. Robinson because I think if he understands, I have no way to buy my two puppies food that he would understand and allow me to get that $40 back so I could purchase food for my bichon frise and my five-year-old baby blue who I rescued from the boat rescue and he was in a RV with 19 other dog so he has knee needed a lot of extra TLC so with all this I'm begging for the $40 back and Mark says absolutely not. I told him I was going to protest this business and let the customers know that Mark the manager this business family and friends doesn't care if you have money to buy your puppies or your dogs food what matters to him is the bottom line even though I had a $40 credit take note people
