My wife went to this place to pick up and try on a suit. When she went in the dressing room to try it on to be sure it fit the staff immediately started talking about her due to her being a woman trying on a suit. They continued to whisper and talk about her the entire time she was in the dressing room. I would never recommend a place that acts this way towards their customer. read more

No option for less than one star or I would have. I would understand a no refund policy on any item that would be taken out of the store, however, the item that was in layaway, and never physically in the possession of my daughter or altered in any fashion should very well have been refunded when her big day was canceled. I don't understand how places like this can operate on any kind of moral standpoint. Now not only has she lost out on her big day, but we can't even get a refund for the money that we have spent so far to help her get her own place. Pitiful practices, rude customer service. I have been here two times. Both times that I've been there, I just did not feel welcome at all. I tried on a few dresses and a few workers were there. Didn't hardly talk or anything. And when I came out with the dress on they would say quietly " yeah that's pretty ". All the other bridal and prom formal places I've been to always made me feel special when looking for a dress! And they would ask what I like and don't like the dress and help me with something more my style. But when I'm here I feel like I'm a burden. read more

Sitting here on a lazy Sunday watching Say Yes to the Dress, and feeling compelled to leave a review. I have had two, yes, two daughters getting married within the same year! Lara's has been amazing in helping my girls make their dreams turn into reality. They have very different personalities, different dreams and different ideas of the perfect gown. Lara's has come through both times. In addition to finding the perfect gowns, Lara's has made special accommodations for this (way) out of town momma to make sure I could be part of these special days. Fittings and alterations were easy and seamless, and we have one perfect wedding day in the books and are looking forward to the second! Visit this shop, and meet the accommodating ladies that make it a special place to help you find the perfect dream gown. If you are planning a wedding, buying a prom/homecoming dress, and care about your money or sanity. DO NOT GO TO LARA's BRIDAL in Ashland. The owner is unacceptably rude and unkind. I bought my wedding dress there in December. We bought shoes, a hair piece, and earrings that all matched to go together with the dress. My dress came in sometime in March, so I went in to try it on and made the appointment for my first fitting two months before the wedding. The day of my fitting, they called and canceled a few hours before I was supposed to be there for my fitting, and tried to reschedule a month later... a month before my wedding. I decided to take my dress somewhere else to get it altered and went to pick up my dress. Fast forward to the day of my next fitting. I asked my mom the night before to gather my shoes, hair piece, and earrings to take with me, just in case. It is then when we find the receipt for the purchase and noticed that we had the shoes shipped back in December. Luckily my sister had a pair of formal shoes the same height the shoes were supposed to be. So I took those. Mom called Lara's that day to see when was best to pick up my shoes. The lady who she spoke to then informed us, a month and half before the wedding that the shoes we ordered in December were no longer available and were discontinued. And that they didn't have my shoes. So my mother and I decided we would just go try to return the hair piece and earrings that matched the shoes we could no longer get. When we walked into the store to speak to someone, the lady at the register was rude and refused to take the hair piece and jewelry that never left the box. You would think with all the trouble the store had put me through in addition to the stress from planning a wedding, someone would want to help us out. The lady we talked to ended up to be the owner. She was nasty and rude when I got upset and started to cry because we were now out a decent amount of money. I don't advise anyone ever ever go there, unless you liked being screwed over and belittled over one of the biggest days in your life. She talked to us like peasants and mocked me about getting "upset over a pair of shoes." If you ask me, that's a piss poor way to run a business. read more

BEWARE!!! This place has terrible customer policies. They insisted a dress was perfect for my daughter. I told them I didn't feel the color was right but would think about it. She told me to put $80 hold on the dress. Gave me a contract that said deposits on special orders and layaway were non-refundable but it didn't apply to mine because it was a 24 hour hold. I tried to cancel the hold in less than 24 hours and they would not refund my money. They were very aware that I wasn't happy with the dress but insisted it was perfect. I only put it on hold to think about it. I would not have paid 80$ to think about a dress. The contract doesn't state anything about a 24 hour hold being non-refundable. No more dress for me from a place like this. read more

They're awful here. A $550 dress was altered like a 12 year old learning to sew. Every step my step daughter took another seam ripped so we brought the prom dress in because we had an hour before dinner and the dance and we were told in the same breath that it was a manufacturer defect and that it was our fault. No return, no exchange. We were treated terribly, the workers are extremely rude. Nothing like making a 17 year old cry in the dressing room because you sell shotty dresses. But never fear, we went down the street and bought a dress from a shop that stayed open late for us after they heard how we had been treated and her senior prom was saved. Worst experience ever! We got my daughter in laws wedding dress there and paid 1600 dollars for it and it's a week away from the wedding and it was the same dress that was on the shelf. They never ordered one in her size or offered any help to fix the problem. All of the brides maid dresses were wrong as well. The owner talked to us like we were beneath her as her coworkers surrounded her giving us their opinions instead of trying to help. People go here for one of the most special days of their lives! They need to have compassion and caring when dealing with their customers! If I could give zero stars I would!!! read more

Order a brides maid dress in October and was told dress would be here end December . They didn't place order because of problem supposedly with one of bridesmaid dresses . Took them 2 weeks before contacting bride to let her know nothing ordered . Then decided oh they company could make the dress . But now being told dress won't be here till some time in February! The dresses still need altered and one girl loves out of town so have to get her dress to her and get altered . Wedding march 9!! These people are rude and lie ! If you don't want take forever getting your dress , go somewhere else ! They charged full amount of dress day we ordered . So they have their money . So they don't care !! Hope there isn't a problem with dress beside needing altered ! Since we don't have time to do anything about it . Supposedly made to order , well of it was it would be made to order and not need altered ! Guess that's what happens when they don't even order from company they use a third party to get the dress and comes from China !! read more

Being that this was my last senior prom I was so excited to shop for a prom dress so my mom and me decided to try here which was a big mistake!!! While trying on the dresses the woman helping was very nice, but after ordering the dress which was no big deal we coming back for the appointment to try it on they had given my appointment to someone else and marked my name out on the book as if I was never even there. And could not find my dress which was $700+ and was already paided for with my own money from working. Best of luck to anyone that shops there for any dresses... read more

The girls who work there are complete female dogs. I walked in one day, looking for a cocktail type dress for an event, no one greeted me, asked if I needed help or even looked up at me when I walked in! Absolutely the WORST first bridal experience.. I drove from out of town over an hour for my scheduled appointment and showed up on time at 2pm. My party and myself weren't even acknowledged when we walked in; we had to find someone to tell them we were there after 15 minutes. We were told they were running behind and to feel free to "look around". By 2:45pm we were FINALLY addressed and told just to go ahead and pull whatever dresses we wanted... NOT OK to allow brides to pull dresses without knowing the PRICES! I was finally seen by 3pm, an entire HOUR AFTER my scheduled appointment.. by then the scheduled 3pm appointment was there and hovered around us in order to get us to hurry.. within 15 minutes of my appointment, my consultant took a WALK-IN and tried bouncing back and forth between us.. NOT OK! I truly fell in love with one dress and wanted to buy it, but we were completely ignored when I asked to try it on again.. I got the dress details and ordered it FROM ANOTHER STORE in another state that was CHEAPER than the exact some one at Lara's. I was devastated to experience this shop as my FIRST bridal experience.. The help was terrible and I feel they discriminated against my daughter. She is not a size two because she is an outstanding athlete. She lifts weights and is destined for a college scholarship in the sport of her choice. However, she had to endure being passed over for other girls without so much of a hello from the arrogant staff. Her mother was looking for help and was excited to have our daughter purchase her dress there. She felt it was a rite of passage. After trying on several dresses with zero assistance my ladies left frustrated. All the while watching and listening to the employees help other people who just arrived. In addition, making compliments about the other girls and never once looking to help my child! However, the day improved with a short trip to "The Rose Tree Boutique". The employees greeted her openly and learned about her athletic accomplishments. They soon realized that my daughter was a junior Olympian and her shy mother a body builder. They complimented them as ladies should, and helped her find the perfect dress for her athletic frame. It was the best $1500 I have ever spent! So Lara's not only lost a former fan of their business. They lost my respect and a considerable amount of money! There are a couple reasons they are number two in my book. First, they are near as considerate as the Rose Tree. Next, they represent the proverbial child hood code for a trip to the bathroom. Because of their lack of dignity, poor business practices, vain attitudes, and terrible customer service Lara's is a giant pile of "two" in my opinion.. read more

My 21 year old daughter came in today with a friend to look at dresses for her wedding in a year. The sales rep acted annoyed they were there and suggested she look at pictures or on line. My daughter left upset. And as expected so is her mom, who will be buying whatever dress she wants, but not from here. read more
