As an incoming freshman I didn't know much about housing. I liked that sterling was affordable, convenient and new so I signed. I was lucky to be place with great roommates & sterling had awesome resident events, amenities, and more. In the beginning, management had some issues with maintenance of the building but they've really stepped it up and Manager Christina has been a huge part of that. Sterling has been a great experience for me! EDIT: I recently went through and read the other reviews and feel like I have some things to say. I don't work for sterling or have any affiliation with them, nor am I living here next semester (because of roommates) but I do think it is important to give an honest review. Many are complaining about cancelled events, but sterling actually doesn't cancel a lot of their events (maybe one or two a year like any other place) and has actually been putting way more events up for the residents than other complexes I've seen. There are problems with the elevators and messy stairwells but you have to remember that that is also the fault of the residents. It is a big complex and that is something you have to take into account when signing up there, you have to be realistic about how with a larger building there will be more residents and likely most trash in some places and longer waits for elevators. I think having extra maintenance would help since they are overwhelmed, but for the most part the staff if friendly and helpful if you provide them the same courtesy. We're all humans. Sterling has amazing rates, even compared to other residences, and with that you take into account some of the other inconveniences. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. read more

Living at Sterling was such a good idea! I moved-in 2019 and still live here! The staff is really nice an always wants to help. They do lots of events and have food trucks which is awesome. The pool is my favorite part of the property and has great views. My balcony is also another one of my favorite things about Sterling. It's very close to campus which means I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a parking pass on campus. Love living here and have already resigned for next year! read more

Do not waste your time. The only kind thing I have to offer about Sterling Northgate is the FEW employees I have met that have been kind and courteous, however problems always persist... and I mean ALWAYS. The internet service is ATROCIOUS. Being a college student, this significantly affected my course work and I would have to travel elsewhere to get WiFi in order to complete my assignments. I couldn't do homework in my own HOME. Also, due to the fact that I signed a few weeks after my roommates I had to pay a much more significant amount monthly for rent. Absolutely NOT worth it for the "amenities" they offer. I quote amenities because though they are listed on the lease, they are almost always broken. The hot tub did not work on and off for 6 out of the 9 months I lived here. The elevator often broke, several "dinners" or other events advertisers ALL OVER their social media didn't happen with no explanation?? They've lost 3 of my packages, one being an expensive calculator that they said they "didn't have", even though UPS said it was signed by an employee who worked there. I continued to bug the office about it for days until they got annoyed with me, when it was "miraculously" found. Absolutely ridiculous. They frequently change their policies with little to no heads up. The complex sends residents long (and to be honest worthless-nobody reads a 6 page spread about the "motivation" of their complex every single day) emails DAILY. Several policies changed throughout the year that angered many residents, including (but TRUST me not limited to) their parking policy which no longer allowed residents to park on the first floor. Since they provide almost no warning other than a long email, several residents that had not seen this email, including myself, had their cars towed with absolutely no remorse. I had to pay over $300 to get my car released and the only thing Sterling had to say about it was "Sorry about that!" Overall, this has to be one of the worst options for a student in College Station. The price may SEEM reasonable for the nice floor plans at first, however it only took my roommates and I two weeks to realize it is nowhere near worth it for the price they require. Terrible option and deeply saddened that this was my first experience owning an apartment as this location specifically made my first year of college MUCH more difficult than it needed to be. read more

I have lived here for the past three years and overall it has been a good experience. All the workers have been extremely helpful and always look for ways to help the residents. There have been a lot of maintenance issues but by sending a request they will fix it. One of the best perks is how close the apartments are to campus. A lot of the students walk or bike to class so it is definitely doable. Compared to other apartments in the same general area, the prices are lower or close to the same. They have been rising in the last couple of years but they are still better than most. read more

this is my first year here, and I love it so far! it's pretty clean and I'm really happy with my room and all the amenities.

This is my first apartment and I love it here!! Great location on northgate and near tons of food!!! The apartments are super up to date and have quality appliances!! They have free dinners at least once a month and cookies in the office every Friday and sometimes free energy drinks and snacks along with a coffee machine!! The gym is super nice and always kept clean!! They have study rooms on every floor that are super nice and big!! Also have printers and desktops available 24/7!! Staff and maintenance has always been super friendly and helpful when there's an issue!! They are Very communicative!! I def recommend this place! read more

They enforce masks which is dope. And they clean the hallways and common areas regularly . Staff is nice & maintenance is nice & helpful. The room layouts are great and the walk in closets are amazing. However. BUGS . BUGS EVERYWHERE. Me and my VERY clean roomates rarely leave a dish in the sink, vacuum and mop regularly , don't leave food out, and take out our trash daily. There are gnats , roaches (big and small), spiders , little bugs I don't even know what they are all the time. We have had our apartment sprayed , treated for gnats and have taken many many precautions ourselves. We spray raid like it's febreeze in this place and there are literally still bugs everywhere. I have seen 2-3 roaches in the halls , and about 3-5 roaches in our apartment. There is not anything in our apartment these roaches could possibly be eating. No crumbs nothing! We have also only lived here one month so I literally have no idea how all these bugs have already infested here . Also they tell you there's USB ports on the beds.... not true. I live in a 4 bedroom & my bed was the only bed that got a black wire usb charger command stripped on the side. It's ugly and is not what "USB ports on headboards" lead you to believe . None of my other roommates got the luxury of this black wire screwed on their bed. Only me. We also were shown a CVS vending machine when we moved in . It was a part of the tour and was very hyped up. We don't have that anymore. I think they bring it in around leasing time . Rooms come with a mini fridge which is kinda cool but the only issue is that it's big. There's no outlets in your closet so you can't put it in there like they show you in the model. you can't fit it under your bed, so youre forced to use it as a night stand. As a girl with a love for decor, I'm not enjoying my mini fridge night stand. Also the 24/7 valet trash ? Yeah no not a thing. Because of the ~bug infestation ~. You will actually get fined if you leave out your trash can past 9am. so wake up early! Take it from me - I have lived in 3 different apartment complexes now. Do not live in a company owned / chain apartment complexes. Live in a house ! Do yourself that favor. Live. In . A . House. With a landlord not a company! Don't live at the cottages or retreat they're just like apartment living . Company owned chain living places come with some nasty ness, false advertisement, and issues staff will take forever to get on. Live in a house with an owner who gives a crap! Trust me ! read more

Let's preface this by saying the staff has been rewarding people with gift cards in exchange for good reviews, so please ignore those. this place is nowhere near its price. there are seven stories and the elevators never work so you always have to take the stairs. We leave the AC at 69 and it has frozen over three times already. We put in a work order and don't get a response for at least 48 hours. The amenities you pay for never work: the hot tub is only working maybe two days out of the month and if there's a small amount of trash left at the pool they just close it down instead of cleaning it. The free coffee machine is located in the leasing office that's only open select hours of the weekdays, so it doesn't exactly count as a plus. The study room's computers are so slow if they're even working. Most of them don't have keyboards (which is a little confusing). The printer works half the time, and for some reason, it only accepts paper that's abnormally long, that you have to supply yourself. It's nice that it is pet-friendly, but with that comes dog pee and poop everywhere, including the hallways and elevators (when they're even working). The staff is college students so they're pretty accommodating and understanding, except for the manager. She pretended to be someone else in the Sterling Northgate groupme (titled herself as 'Chardonnay Strong') and was SO rude to the residents voicing their concerns. All they would do was ask why the amenities we PAY FOR aren't working, and she'd respond by saying something snarky instead of handling the issue head-on. The wifi is unreliable, which is unfortunate because if your wifi doesn't work, you don't have service. The parking garage is built too narrow, people always hit other cars or the walls. The apartment, in general, is never clean and it always smells. Trash is always in the hallways. I could probably think of more, but to sum it up, this place is repulsive. I heard the sister apartment "Aspire" is a lot better, so maybe try that instead. read more

I moved to Sterling for the 2018-19 school year, it was my first experience with off campus living. They were extremely accommodating to me and helpful over the summer when the management completely switched. They were able to help compensate for the misunderstandings and promises made by former management. Also, they have worked really hard to making sure the resident experience has been as homey and smooth as possible. I really appreciate their countless efforts to bring the sterling community together and the nice goodies they have throughout the month. I appreciate the great lengths they have gone to to ensure the security at the complex, despite some breaking the expensive equipment. Overall, sterling does a really good job accommodating the crazy demands of hundreds of college students, I've heard many complain about it being dirty but they have custodial staff constantly cleaning behind inconsiderate residents. Many of the reviews that I have seen about Sterling do not seem honest. The beginning of the year was off to a rocky start. I understand that it was their first year and that they needed time to establish. The main reason that I signed was to have a nice dog park for my dog. It was not complete by move in. I asked in August how long it would take and I was told two weeks. Two weeks later I asked again. Every time that I came into the office to ask about the dog park they told me a later date and they seemed more annoyed with me every time. I do not think that there was anything wrong with asking when the amenities would be completed. One of the student workers told me that I am paying for my unit and not the amenities, but then why did the girl that talked me into leasing at Sterling emphasize how great this dog park would be for my dog. I don't mind having to take my dog down 6 floors every day to go to the restroom, but the area where I can take her is awful. I appreciate that Sterling provides doggie bags, but most people leave their dog's mess. I am always scared to step in it. At the beginning of the year a dog went to the bathroom in the elevator and somebody assumed that it was my dog. They described her to management and they charged me a $100 pet fee without asking me first. Once I talked to the manager and he heard my side of the story we cleared things up and the fee was taken off of my account. I appreciate that he took time to listen to me, but I wish that I would have been contacted prior to being fined. Most of the student workers are super nice, but I feel like they got tired of my questions and I feel awkward when I have a question for the office. Most of the reviews I have seen mention how welcoming Sterling is, but I do not feel welcome at all. I have an anxiety attack every time that I have to go into the office. I don't even take my puppy in for "Wag Wednesdays". I have talked to other residents who feel the same way. Sterling really does not feel like a home. read more

This place might actually be the worst place to live in college station for quality to price ratio. The appliances look expensive but are cheap and break consistently. I was one of the first people to sign before it was built when they offered their "best price" which was $780 at the time and then they drastically dropped it to $540 without dropping my roommate and I's when we were the first to sign with them. They charge for absolutely everything including $25 for parking, $10 for trash that you can't omit out of and you still have to walk boxes down to the dumpster, $100 for a "green fee" to make the community more efficient but the utilities bills are the same as anywhere else. They have lost leases, then make up new prices. They almost moved someone into my room and if I hadn't reminded them a day before that I had resigned my lease they would have given someone else the keys to my room. How unorganized must a company be to lose renewal leases of their entire building? Keep in mind the only reason I renewed was because I was promised $449 with no other fees but of course somehow they found a way to charge me them anyways. Their management is horrendous because they never know what is going on. So many of their staff members have quit and have personally told me it is because it is the worst place they have ever worked. They don't care about the people who live here or their needs. The management is extremely rude and unfriendly. They are extremely condescending and have lost mine and multiple of my neighbors packages because they pay for a personal carrier. They take no responsibility even though the post office claims that legally they have to since their carrier signed for the packages. They are inconsiderate. On move in day everyones rooms were dirty, including paint, dust, missing bulbs, stained mattresses, filthy toilets, unclean bathrooms in general and much more. It is absolutely embarrassing that any establishment would be okay with running a place so awfully like this. They didn't have keys for people on move in day. At 11pm the night before move in day they emailed saying the apt complex was not going to be ready so they were going to place people in hotels 40 min away from Texas A&M's campus. How are we supposed to get to school? So many people complained that they gave us the keys that night at 9pm and they never bothered to clean the rooms so there were hammers, paint stains, so much dust, and dirt and foot mud stains all over the floor. The elevators break at least once a week. A girl got stuck in the elevator for two hours last year. They lose documents and will use your electronic signature to say that you have signed new leases so be very careful. I would not trust this place with anything especially not a bank account. I have been horrified by this experience. All the positive reviews are FAKE!!! They pay for those. I have personally been emailed and offered gift cards for postive reviews, they can't buy their way out of this one. read more
