After the V drive blew another seal o had it removed and sent to Larry for overhaul. Larry is old school and a bit cantankerous but he is the best with V drives. He has a test bench that can actually do a test run and monitor temps and pressures. I've had no problems with my V drive. Larry is highly recommended. read more

Am doing a new build for the past 3 years and got one of my two trannys rebuilt from him and have had nothing but headaches with it, its been a couple of years and am just getting to sea trials, not only did the tranny fail on the sea trial, but realized that we got switched to a different geared tranny than what we sent in to get" rebuilt". the back of the tranny that holds the drum was different too.. 1:91:1 from a 1:51:1. I thought I really screwed up until I found some old pictures of the tranny tags and that confirmed it. Never again.. Beware. read more

Larry is legendary in the boating industry. He has been in business for many years and knows the ins & outs of boat transmissions! However, transmissions are not the only menu item on his rate card. He knows the complete workings of leisure/commercial fishing vessels and is a go-to if you need expert advice before purchasing a vessel. Larry has a full service shop in Paradise Hills. He also has a full service vehicle and is available for service calls anywhere in SoCal. Oh! A real treat is all of the great used items you can find at his shop/yard. James does not reply to e-mails unless notifying them of potential legal action. They've had my $10,000 marine generator for over 6-months, and I've heard every excuse in the book. I've worked with James who is non-responsive and cops and attitude when challenging them about my repair update. They picked up my generator in June of 2021, charged me $2,900 (corrected from $4500) and I have not seen either since. They've missed four completion dates over the period of two months and to this day no idea when it will be returned. HORRIBLE customer service. Wish Yelp had an "Avoid" star :-) Please do not use YTM - they do not deserve to be in business. Now have the BBB involved and will be taking legal action very soon.
