FINALLY a Taco Spot that has REALLY HOT SALSA!…read more I am one of those crazy folks that love to eat uncomfortably hot stuff. I am usually disappointed by sauces that are either not hot enough or hot but don't taste good. Cantina Taco is not one of those places. Their salsa's are DELICIOUS and the pack a punch. I experienced Very Friendly Staff, and very quick service. I ordered Two Tacos, Black bean and Vegan Chorizo with an order of beans and rice. I got their 4 alarm salsa and their Mango Habanero to go with those and a Large Horchata. Everything was VERY very good. The Mango Habanero almost seemed spicier to me and had SO much flavor. I would go back just to get that. THe 4 alarm salsa was also very good but a totally different flavor profile. The Tacos were very generously portioned. The Tacos themselves were good but with the Salsa's they were great. The Rice and beans were good but the portion was a little small. The Horchata was delicious and helped cool me off from the Hot Salsas. I am already preparing to return so that I can try other items of their menu.

We got our food and finished it just in time to see the show. Most people don't realize the pace these employees were working to make that happen, not just for us, but everyone in their restaurant. They were hauling! The food was absolutely delicious, and everything coming out of their kitchen looked equally amazing. They did a great job. We ordered a taco each, and split chips and salsa and rice and beans. The place is clean, cheery, and can't be beat!

Each person with their own finicky interests found something. All of us loved our meals: Tacos, chicken and beef stews and chili rellenos. The service was quick and helpful. Really enjoyed ourselves. One person wished there had been an unsweetened iced tea available. Other than that, there was not a complaint about anything. Just really enjoyed your meal.

I opened up Yelp and found this little taqueria in the cute downtown of Belvedere so we decided to stop here. The inside definitely makes you feel like you're at a family owned restaurant. It reminds me of all of the pizzerias I went to as a kid in New York. The staff are all incredibly friend and funny and were cracking jokes the whole time to our table. They offer a wide selection of Mexican specialties from some of the more common ones to some of the harder to find ones. Lately, I've been on a Gordita kick so I ordered the Gordita dinner. The rice and beans were so good, and the fresh tortillas, along with the beautiful meat inside were all perfect. I wasn't expecting to have such incredible Mexican in this part of the US, but I need to reassess my biased because this was fantastic. Highly recommend!

I was insulted for questioning her pricing for two pieces of bread at a price of $7+. The words that were used against me were every bad and race-related word you could imagine. I worked for customer service for more than a decade, and someone like that should not be allowed to work in the public sector. I will definitely contact the state food board regarding the sanitation of this establishment. I saw bread pick up from the floor and put back on the rack and the lady wasn't even wearing gloves or a hair net. Please do better

I've been here twice this week, and I'd be hard pressed to find better Mexican food in the Rockford area. I've had the taco dinner with carne asada and al pastor tacos that were huge and delicious. Yesterday I had the rib eye burrito which was about as good as a burrito gets, and today I heated up some shrimp empanadas that were very fresh tasting and delicious. There's quite a few other things on their menu that I haven't seen in most other local Mexican restaurants, so go in and give it a try. You won't regret it. One suggestion though. There isn't much in the way of ambiance here. It's almost like a big cafeteria. You can eat there, but I prefer to get carryout. The prices are cheap. The quality of the food I've had is great. I am all about supporting local businesses, and between this place, La Michoacana (they make ice cream from scratch in front of you, and tremendously inexpensive), and Vinny's Pizza, there's a lot of great stuff to be explored in this quaint little strip mall.
