Good God. Rockford really doesn't know Mexican food. I was hopeful for this place, because of how many people recommended it. I guess if this is what Rockford knows, then these people are really missing out. Guanajuatos is the closest to authentic I've found, personally. Okay back to this place... bland. Decided to give it one more go. Got two chicken burritos. The service was great and the food came out quickly (and tasted pretty good, for the most part). Brought it home, and my wife found a piece of a plastic bag in her burrito. After finishing mine, I had a bad stomach ache all night. This is our nearby go-to place for carryout Mexican food. It has been a good, reliable stop for us over the years. The price increase a couple years ago put me off of their tacos (how much is one expected to pay for a simple taco?), but we still thought the burritos and some of the dinners were still a fair deal, and inflation was hitting every restaurant, so the increase was understandable. But with the latest hike, they have lost us. This is not gourmet food and there are far better bargains to be had elsewhere (and certainly better Mexican food, as much as we like El Burrito Loco). We have already cut our spending on restaurant meals by nearly 75% due to the rising prices, and we know how to cook our own good meals at home. Delivery was fast. Meals are HUGE and so good! Burrito was packed full of flavor and meat. Sauces were flavorful and spicy but not too spicy. I treat myself once a week to a steak burito it was always very good and the size was excellent delicious but my last experience was not so great first of all they increased the price last year ok I understood why but now they increased it again by two dollars but also the size is smaller and it just was not good $14.00 for a burito i will eat at home read more

Got take out steak fajitas last night. This was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Totally bland & bitter! This goes for the fajitas, beans & rice. There could not have been an attempt to make them palatable.Even the tortillas were gummy. The green bell pepper was so bitter I spit it out. We would have been better off with frozen burritos. Usually go to Guanajato but decided to try this place again (last time I had it, was just meh) ordered a steak torta and thought maybe it would compare to Guanajatos..didn't even come close and was the most bland thing I think I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. I cannot tell you how bland my giant beef burrito was. It had absolutely no flavor! Even the yummy salsa couldn't help it. This ain't how Mexican food is done, folks. The outside of the place looks like new, but you can tell from the location that it hasn't been around long. However, this Rockford restaurant is truly a hidden gem. I sit here finishing by giant chicken burrito, writing this review, and thinking to myself, "when do I get to come back?" With plenty of menu options, if you leave here hungry, it's your own fault. The giant burrito I mentioned is truly huge. Although not as many options as a chipotle burrito, the amount of meat they put in it more than makes up for it. The chicken was moist and full of flavor, the lettuce was crisp, and the beans were satisfying... and I HATE beans. Some people may complain, saying, "it's not Real Mexican food." This may be the case, but good food is good food, authentic or not. Not only will I be back to taste more options, but I may indulge in the sauces on the tables. I did have a minuscule taste of them both, and being of the "gringo" variety, I can say they they were good, but I need to find a Baskin Robbins if I had anymore. Until next time! read more

Nachos! So generously piled up with toppings and the best cheese. The burritos, huge and delicious! Perfect tacos, love to grab just an order of chips and guacamole. The menu is so extensive it is nearly impossible to not be able to find something that will become your favorite as long as you enjoy Mexican food. They even have breakfast items on the menu. When this place first opened 10 years ago it was fantastic. Since then it has gone downhill in a hurry especially the last 6 months. Do yourself a favor and go to Guatajuano on Marchesano Dr. The tortas are twice the size of burrito loco, they are served with avocado sour cream lettuce and tomato at no extra charge. The tacos are twice the size for a mere 40 cents more. They also have a special everyday $1.50 carnita tacos with whatever you want on them at no extra charge. read more

The food is amazing! I came in with my family and got Menudo, tacos, and tostadas and everything was delicious! The only think that I didn't like was the service. The girl taking my order look like she didn't wanted to be there. You ask questions and she answer with an attitude. Their was a guy working too and he seem more nice than the girl. If you love authentic Mexican food, this is the place! The variety is vast from breakfast to dinner! Many meat choices for tacos & burritos. GIANT portions! Order their largest burrito. It's like holding a baby!! Worth every penny & then some because you WILL have leftovers! If you don't like the food here then you don't know Mexican food. Flavorful, mouth watering & fast! The only gripe I would have is the use of frozen corn. Fresh would be better but guess what? It is still delicious! As far as I can tell, everything else is fresh. I think I've tried everything on the menu (after 7 years of going). The rice is always perfect. My favorite is the Enchilada dinner, Mexican potatoes, & Horchata. Their Caldo de Res has healed me from the flu. The Menudo is great for a hangover, lol! The Pozole is very, very good (add in ALL the veggies!). The staff has always been great to us! But they don't sit on top of you, they are way too busy for that but they will grant your every request and fast! Dining in is always a treat to a nice, bright atmosphere & some TV or music in Spanish but we usually take advantage of their awesome drive-thru. No place else can you get this quality of food at a drive-thru! You may wait 5 to 10 minutes but once you know how good the food is, you don't even care. When's the last time you went to Chili's or whatever & got 4 full meals in 10 minutes??? We've tried most Mexican places in the area (maybe all). This is by far, the best! read more

I used to love this place. The food used to be worth the price. I've dined here several times over the last few months and I'm so disappointed. The food is almost flavorless. The spices used are almost non existent. Everything is so bland and they want you to pay extra for EVERYTHING. I don't know what's happening here but I won't be back.
