Absolutely the best Mexican restaurant I've had in Rockford. I ordered the carne asada dinner with an horchata. Delivered, it was still very warm, the meat was so soft and tender and seasoned amazing. The onions and Chile were grilled perfectly. I wish the frijoles had cheese but it was still very good. The salsas had a nice spice to it, and the guacamole was very tasty as well. I can't wait to order again! read more

Food is okay. The service in there has been somewhat slow. Particularly just getting noticed by the waitstaff despite not being busy and having a chime in the door. That being said I do understand that staffing is short these days obviously. That being said I don't have time to waste during my lunch break, so I won't be back soon. read more

The food actually tastes like authentic Mexican food. Imagine that, in Rockford! We ordered carryout and I had the El Pastor Tacos which were phenomenal! The tacos were overrunning with pork, pineapple, and other ingredients and the flavor was incredible. I've had authentic Mexican and Chilango's is the real deal. My better half had chicken fajitas and he was equally pleased with his, in particular the way the chicken was seasoned. When trying a Mexican joint for the first time I get a veggie burrito. They fresh-grilled veggies (green pepper and onion) for it, which was a nice touch. And the seasoning in the rice was great. Yesterday I drove by and saw Chilangos and told my husband we should try it. So we did. And it was amazing! We ordered a steak burrito and a steak taco dinner. The steak was so delicious. Real authentic tacos! Rice was good beans were good but tacos we're GREAT. Service was great also and the place was very clean and inviting. Wasn't super busy and we received our food very quickly. I've lived 2 minutes from this place and never knew until now, and they've been there for 3 years. Upon my first visit I noticed it's a pretty cozy building but the girl at the counter told me they're expanding(good on them). I got the three Taco dinner, 2 steak and 1 pork with rice and beans. I got home and there were only two tacos in my box, but called and went to pick up my third with no other incentive. I just had a taco salad with chicken and a small guacamole. It was most excellent, and though I normally enjoy refried beans, I appreciated they didn't put any at the bottom. Ordered mixed fajitas, chicken quesadilla, cheese enchiladas and beef chimichanga. Chimichanga and enchiladas were very flavorful and delicious. Quesadilla was just average, no flavor stood out just bland. Fajitas were decent but a bit over cooked. Thought we ordered flour tortillas but received corn, I'm a fan hubby is not. Paid extra for a side of beans and rice for the quesadilla however we did not receive them. Chips and red salsa were amazing, but could have used a little more heat on the salsa. Staff was polite but hostess was not very sure about ingredients in items on the menu when asked. Originally tried to order the chili rellenos but they were out. Will definitely be back for the chimichanga, enchiladas and chips and salsa and hope to try the chili rellenos but will make sure I check my to go order before leaving to ensure everything is in the bag that we paid for. read more

Everything was great! I bought $50 worth of food and everything was made fresh. It's a 20 min drive from my home and the food was still hot when I got back home. Portions are awesome. Friendly staff. Such a disappointment. Barely warm unseasoned food. Cheese dip? It was the consistency of water, never seen cheese dip like that before. Dehydrated onions! I couldn't believe it, and they were old and nasty tasting. I tasted for hours and hours later. Service was good. Ticket came with no prices next to items, only the total. I didn't want to make a scene and question why the bill was so high since they didn't put prices next to each item......but we had already decided we'd never come back there, so I paid bill and left. Hard to find a decent Mexican restaurant this side of town, but this place was a hidden gem for sure. Very small, quaint. They even delivery! Although both time I've orders for delivery there was a lot of mistakes. Delivery to wrong address, missing food, food wrong, etc. So we decided third time's a charm and we went inside instead. A worker had their child there running around playing, but he was quiet and behaved so it didn't bother me one bit. Not my type of salsa but the rest of the food was absolutely delicious!
