Had a couple day stop in Las Cruces with a bored dog. I searched for a nearby dog park and found this great open space with lots of play activities for dogs. Buckets of water, swimming pools, shade, seating of various types for the people and dog toys scattered around. Great place to spend time outside. read more

Nice facility, extremely clean, divided in big dog, little dog sections. Ample watering stations with waste bags and receptacles strategically placed. The human bathroom area needs some love bu over all it was a positive experience. read more

We stopped here while driving from CA to Houston with our labradoodle. Soo glad we did!! It's a nice big park (dirt) but well kept, clean and had lots of toys. We came at noon on a Tuesday and there were 10-12 other dogs there. Dogs of all sizes and breeds, and all nice and fun-loving! And the people were really nice as well! read more

Big spacious dog park. I recently have been bringing my 2 dogs here, a Doberman and a German Shepard, as well as my boyfriends moms dog a beagle pit. A place where they could let loose and have so much energy. There is plenty of dog toys around and balls which my dogs love. They always have a ball in their mouth expecting you to play catch with them. So far other dogs and owners have been respectful for the most part. I love there's a place in town where they could be dogs and not have to worry about having your furniture get ruined. Once they come home, they are ready to relax and chill. Another way for the dogs to socialize and not cooped up in the house. For the most part they get along with the dogs. Sometimes my German Shepard gets greedy with the current ball she has. But hey, what can I say, dogs will be dogs. read more

Great place to stop and let your dog stretch it's leg from a long car ride. We are just stopping through with our final destination being Arizona. We visited around 6pm they have patio chairs for guest spread out and bench seating. They have one shaded spot by trees and 2 other shaded spots provided by man made pergola. They have toys spread throughout , rocks to climb on, fire hydrants, water buckets, and few other obstacles . Mask are recommended at the gate for guest . read more

They have 2 dog parks but one is for all dogs and the other is for special needs. My little dogs don't care for big dogs so we stayed in the special dogs section. Ample parking and dirt lot with some shade. read more

Traveling in the southwest , it's hard to find a Dog Park that also has places to walk surrounding the park without sticker burrs!!!! My dog gets easily bored if there's no squirrels. This place is in conjunction with a human park so there were trees and grass and squirrels. Off leash for a bit and then on-leash fer critters on the outside. A little off the beaten path. But, markets were nearby to pick up supplies for the rest of our trip. A win-win for everybody. read more

Glad that Las Cruces have this one dog park. It's all dry sand without grass. Plenty of chairs for dog owners. There's also a bathtub and a fountain. During the warm season, it's best to come here during sunset. The shade covers won't make one immune to the heat. read more

Upon seeing some of the reviews for the park I had initial concerns about taking my pup. However, I found that the park is pretty great and my dog has a grand time running around with other dogs. It's ample in size, which means he can run full speed, unlike our backyard, and has some smaller trees and a shaded area to rest. I really dig that they have a couple of small pools and ropes laying around to play with. They also have a nice drinking fountain and dog bowls scattered about. After seeing the park a few times and meeting some of the regulars I had to laugh at some people's reviews. Yes, the park is 100% dirt. It's New Mexico, what exactly do you expect? Being from Seattle where grass abounds, all the dog parks are also dirt because it's not rocket science that running dogs rip up grass and dirt is easier to maintain. I've also yet to meet a "vicious" dog as some people had complained about. My dog did have a run-in with another dog, but they were responsible dog owners and apologized while hauling their dog out of the park. Everyone seems to mind their dogs carefully and take action where needed. If anything, the regulars have been super sweet about our dog who is just learning to socialize with other dogs and loves to jump in their dog's faces. Basically, this park is a keeper and I'm really glad it's here for my dog to enjoy. read more

No water. No shade. There are chairs provided but they are all broken and dirty. The locals don't watch out for their dogs and just sit there talking the whole time. My husband got bit by a dog for no reason and the owner just acted like nothing happened. I guess it's nice that this small town even has an off-leash dog park. read more

The park is mostly dirt, but it's unrealistic to expect a nonprofit park to be able to keep grass in the desert. There are some plastic lawn chairs and benches, and a water fountain with bowls. We have an Australian-shepherd/dachshund mix and a 6 month old mutt baby, and neither of them had problems. I wish there was more shade, but other than that it's a nice place to let our pups get exercise and socialize. EDIT: I noticed after a while that our dog was having issues with his paws after going here. It started with some peeling on the pads, which is common, but then he got several abcesses that had to be drained and later debrided. We haven't had any problems since we stopped taking them here. I can't prove anything, and I still think it's a nice-ish park, but we won't be coming here anymore. read more

A lot of reviews are pretty outdated as some major improvements have been made to the park. The community is also pretty great and you wont be disappointed, neither will your bundle of fur! We brought our husky here for the first time a few weeks ago and it is such a huge improvement over going to the local parks where we had to keep him on a leash the whole time. Here he can run around and be social with your dogs. Afterwards he's so tired he doesn't give us any sass and I'm pretty sure he dreams about coming back. The community is pretty relaxed at the park. Some people hang out and chat on the chairs, some walk around the perimeter in groups, others play with their dogs and of course some people keep to themselves. I've met a lot of friendly people at the park and their pups, but I haven't had any issues with either. Dogs will bark and rough play at the park but 99% of the dogs are good and are not aggressive. The facility is well maintained and is a large outdoor fenced in area with dirt and no grass. There are 2 sections which are separated by a gated fence: a large general area, as well as a smaller section for dogs with special needs. Each section has its own 2-gated entrance and a gazebo for extra shade. There are 2 fountains in the park for the pooches as well as play toys scattered about. Parking is a plenty! Restroom services at the park include rocks and trees for the pups, with free dog-waste bags and plenty of trash cans scattered about. For the humans there is a port-a-potty so I suggest you go before or after your trip, or drive around to the rec-center next door. All in all, its a great dog park, and the best game in town. If you haven't been here I suggest taking your dog/s for a trip today! Unless its been raining. read more

I have been a member of the park coalition for 2 years and on the board for 1. My little dachshunds love seeing all their friends at the park. We usually go twice a day, except on weekends. For some reason, their are parents that think it's a good idea to bring small children into an unleashed dog park. What's nice about the park, is if there's something you don't like or want changed, you can volunteer and work on those changes. When people come and complain about we need this, or that, my response is, join the coalition and get it done. read more

The dog park is awesome, the dog park coalition does a great job keeping it working. Plenty of space for dogs to run, plenty of chairs to seat. There's a water fountain with a fountain for dogs, there's also water bowls next to it. I came to Las Cruces for the weekend and it is a big relief knowing that there's a dog park in town. People were super friendly, dogs super nice. It has gravel instead of grass or woodchips, but hey, as far as my dogs like it, it is fine with me. They just loved it. read more

Traveling cross-country from Pennsylvania with my black lab I found this park. It's a nice big open park with small shade trees, gravel and dirt surface, water available, plenty of balls to play with, and very ample supply of pooh bags. I met some of the locals that said sometimes people come with more aggressive dogs but that's usually after 4 o'clock. I was there early afternoon. They have a local volunteer group that tries to keep the park in good shape. My compliments to the people of Las Cruces keep up the good work! read more

Dirt fenced area with a reputation for dog fights according to the professional dog community. People bring their aggressive dogs here. I don't see any posted signs about warnings to aggressive dogs owners. There is only one large area and no fencing to split small from large dogs. There is a small area for 'Special Needs' Dogs that is really used to pull out aggressive dogs out of the main area. Come at your own risk to your dogs. As a caretaker, I have already had my Penbroke mauled and how do you break up a dog fight in a dog area? If the owner does not watch their dog then your up a creek! If you come at five be prepared for mixed Labs, Lab mixes and mixed pit bulls. The regulars will try to tell you there is nothing wrong here but then they are the ones with the large, pushy dogs. Small dogs do not mix with large, aggressive dogs. A small dog area is highly needed at this dog park!!! Yes, please use Bermuda grass with the new small dog area!! Thank you!!! read more

Most people take their dogs to a Dog Park so they can run around and play with other dogs. Sometimes dogs don't have submissive personalities. If your dog doesn't like playing with dogs that are hyperactive or dominant, don't take your dog to a dog park. Seems like common sense to me. My dog loves this park. He's a little skittish around big dogs, but he loves to circle the fence and sniff every single rock. We've never had a problem in the 2 years I've been bringing him here. Also, this is New Mexico. This dog park seems to be more for the owners rather than the dogs. Needs more grassy, shady areas. Also the dog owners tend to sit in a circle ignoring their pups. Some of the regulars have aggressive and obnoxious dogs and ignore their behaviors. I have stopped taking my dog due to bad dog owners who allow their dogs to act aggressively towards others. I understand this park is a social gathering for dog people but please watch your dog! read more

I came here twice during the long Christmas holiday. I should have read the reviews before I went but can't agree more with several of them. I had to leave both times after being there only 5 minutes. The dogs there were bullys and wouldn't even let my dog in the park. We finally got in and every time she started to running, a couple of them chased her back in the corner. She is not shy and an Australian shepherd that can hold her own. The owners were at the other end of the park watching and never called their dogs or did anything. It was terrible. They clearly want no one else at the park. No one ever said a word to us or called their dogs back. read more

This park doesn't have much to offer. There's no grass, so plan on bathing your dog after a visit here. As with any dog park, you should keep a close eye on your dog. Visitors of the park seem to know each other well but don't do much for the safety of newcomers. My dog was attacked by another dog because mine is not yet neutered. The owner did nothing to control his dog (even after I picked my dog up and his was jumping and biting at us). read more

I've been living here 2 years, and never knew about the dog park until my vet mentioned it recently. I took all 3 of my boys (100# Old English Sheepdog, 60# Setter mix, 25# Heinz 57), for the fist time yesterday. There were already about a dozen dogs there when we arrived; all ages and sizes, and a good time was had by all. I can't help but chuckle at the bellyaching in some of the previous reviews about the sand & gravel - in case you missed it folks, this is the DESERT. You know, an arid clime with sand and cactus and stuff... It's a generous space with plenty of seating and shade for the bipeds (I think an additional gazebo-type structure has been installed since some of the other reviews were posted; there are also a number of trees), and lots of water and room to run for our best friends. This will be a regular visit for me and my mutts. read more

We brought our 4 dogs and our almost 5 yr old daughter who is well behaved. She will be 5 in March. Our dogs are not aggressive and were all playing ball with my daughter. I threw the ball for one of my shelties and it got the attention of an elderly gentelman's two aggressive dogs from across the park which followed my dogs back to the side of the park we were playing at. The elderly gentleman then walked across the park to our side and instead of just collecting his ill tempered animals and returning to his area, in front of my daughter, he began explaining that children under 5 were not allowed at the park and asked us to leave. He claimed "the pack was surrounding her" which I found almost comical the dogs around my daughter were our dogs they also sleep in bed with us. The only threat was the gentleman's dogs if you don't have control over your dogs and you are worried about your dogs attacking small children or other dogs you should not have them at the park. It doesn't matter if my daughter is 4.5 yrs or 5yrs a dog can't tell the difference and in a few months we will be back just to bother the older gentleman and if his dogs attacks one of ours or bites any of us we will hold him accountable it also says "no aggressive dogs" in the rules which he claimed we could not read. The rude gentleman unfortunately made our experience unpleasant, Im sure we are not the first people this asshole has ran out of the park, Im sure if he can't control his dogs if it hasn't happened already, it will happen eventually, he is going to get himself in a lot of trouble because there are children under 5 and babies outside of the park. read more
