OMG!! The pupusas were so good..old school pupusas recipe..the taco al pastor is best I had in Berkeley.. can't believe I never walk in before.. definitely coming back to try the rest of their menu.. FYI.. they are closed on Sunday

Decent carne asada fries! They are crispy if eaten quickly, perfectly topped, and have okay flavor and seasoning. Their pupusas are also very flavorful and great! The outer shell is crunchy while the inside is tender and flavorful. The restaurant is pretty dark to eat in, and they do use cardboard for their fries which can be very soggy. It is also quite busy at times so the wait can be long as well-- which is why it's 4! The fries are ~$14 after tax though which is on the pricier side. I recommend eating in for the food as it is fresh and the condensation can really sober up the food. They also sometimes give a bag of marinated veggies which I really enjoyed, but I noticed that they stopped this during my last two orders. However, the red sauce and veggies were complimentary the times before. The Mexican horchata and Salvadorean horchata tasted relatively the same, both were on the sweeter side.

Pupusas de loroco y queso y Side of platanos y crema

Delicious!! I had no leftovers which is crazy for me since i always have a hard time finishing my meals. I got pupusas with loroco and some platano. This is my reward meal for long study sessions lol. Service is okay, you really just order and sit down. It's usually kinda empty except for a few ppl grabbing lunch, which i see as a plus since it's so close to campus. I came for a quiet, delicious meal after a hard day and got exactly that. Recommended this place to two of my profs and some study buddies Lol

Churrasco Salvadoreño w either tortillas or pupusa's

The Churrasco Salvadoreño is a bit of a sampler and excellent way to try a variety of Salvadoran BbQ bites, which was delicious & packed with flavor. I found the service to be excellent. The window seats, or small outdoor table, provide a nice glimpse of the city vibe.

The pupusa was disappointing all oil, undercooked flour, and barely any filling. It felt cheaply made and the service lacked basic courtesy. Definitely not worth it. go to the other pupusa place 100x better.

    Mulitas al pastor

Best Al pastor mulita I have had! Super flavorful and a good sized portion. Also ordered the revuelta pupusa, which was really good and again a great portion size for the money. The pastelitos were both filling and delicious and for dessert we tried the churros which were crispy, flaky and filled with yummy goodness. I ordered online and my food was ready quickly, friendly interaction with the staff as well. Definitely will be back!

    Empanadas de platano

I decided to give myself a treat on Friday while I was in downtown Berkeley, so I ordered empanadas de platano. They are thick, dense, sweet, and very filling and a great choice if you like plantains and/or pastries or carbs in general. They were ready on time when I went to pick up and you get two pretty hefty ones which are enough to stand in for a meal. Thankfully, they come in a paper box too so you'll be able to compost it later. I saw that they also have pupusas on the menu, so if you wanted a new pupusa place to check out in Berkeley, this would be a good option too that is conveniently located near public transit and the university.

Ordered delivery and was nicely surprised with the flavor and the amount of cheese in the pupusa. Definitely will order those again. The tacos come single layer corn tortilla which appears to be fresh. Chicken was good however carnitas and al pastor were a tad salty.

It's been a while since I had a pupusa, so I was excited to learn that this business sells them. I ordered the cheese and jalapeño ($3.25) and also got an order of the mojarra frita ($14.99). Pros: -great service -outdoor seating was available (two small tables). There were also some benches nearby -large portions -close to the downtown Berkeley Bart station and UC Berkeley Cons: -n/a

Las delicias Salvadoran takes over Theraphu Burmese space. infrastructure may be similar. just take out, outside dining available. cash only. offerings: pupusa, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, sides. mulitas. eats: al pastor (2.75), fish taco (3.75) lime, jalepeno, radish garnishes -fish taco had freshly fried fish pieces, nice salsa. -al pastor wasn't overly fried, protein wasn't chewy -good sized potions, fresh ingredients, yummy.. -came out within 5 ish minutes.

On our first 20 mile drive to visit, they blocked us at the inside of the unlocked front door at 3:12pm. Street parking can be difficult but a short drive\walk distance about a block away is a $3 an hour parking garage. The place looks clean and not too busy. We sit and our waitress Yanira M was perfect. Very nice, patient and attentive. We three shared two carne asada dinners with rice and refried red beans, two coffees, a coke and three pupusas. $101.36 before tip. The menu was confusing to us. First, the use of the menu words "red refried beans" confused us as refried beans have never been red in our lifetimes and these were pretty standard brown pinto bean looking and tasting. Maybe less confusion if they were called refried red beans. Then, we thought dinners came with pupusas. No. They came with two each thick tortillas (same as half pupusas with no filling as I could tell.) I enjoyed these thick homemade tortillas. The steak was not bad but I wish it had been served with its sizzle in tact. Salsa and coleslaw came as condiments though they might have been introduced with different names by Yanira. The coleslaw was a nice touch-served in a small jar with serving tongs. The salsa was tasting a bit like the V8 vegetable juice that you had as a kid or teen if you are a boomer. This meal could have really used some homemade spice sauce to add some kick to it. The main negatives today were the high music level at the back where we sat. That, and a busser man dragging some screeching and protesting chairs across the floor - to set up for a large party I believe. Real ear busters. The best part of the meal was the piping hot pupusas and our coffee. I would go back for those.

I was in the area and decided to grab dinner here with some family, which was great since the dishes are designed to be shared. We started with the guaca- mol and tamal. We then ordered each of the three pupusas they had on the menu, the pollo en chicha, and some broccoli asado. We ended the meal with a tres leches cake. Without going into too much detail with each dish, I would just say that we loved everything we ordered. Just the whole experience was a delight. The hospitality, the cultural aspect, and just the fun vibes.

We tried each flavor of each pupusa offered, which were all delicious. I recommend you eat these ASAP, as they come out a bit crispy when freshly prepared, but get soggier quickly. The drinks were fine, but nothing too special or different. The trout was kind of salty, this entree was a bit disappointing. The mackerel appetizer was probably my favorite. It was smoked, so it tasted pretty fragrant and was a nice blend of flavors, but the crackers seemed a bit juvenile to pair it with. Overall it was good, but nothing is making me need to go back!

Keep in mind they do not accept tap pay, but they do accept Zelle and Venmo if you need to make a mobile payment. It is small and cozy inside but there are at least 4 tables if you want to dine in.
