It is still clean but about half or maybe more of the shops are unoccupied, the food court is pretty sad, and one of the anchor stores is gone. The stores that remain seem to be very slow and overall there are only few customers in the mall. I think about 30 cars were near Macy's where I parked. The Mexican restaurant Abuelo's looks like it is closed down but signs are still there but zero customers so I think it was closed. The only store that looked semi-busy was the Chinese massage place where there were about four people being massaged and one customer waiting. I honestly was just looking around to get some exercise on a cold day but I really couldn't find anything I really wanted to buy even if I was searching for something. There were also lots of kids just using the mall as a playground but they seemed to enjoy the empty mall. The highlights of my visit was the sports memorabilia store and the pet store. They were also the only places that the clerks engaged me to see if I needed any help. I guess we have to just get used to the slow death of shopping malls in the future and realize online shopping is here to stay.

It reminds me of a two story version of Pembroke Mall (RIP). They renovated the mall since I was last there. It looks cleaner and modern(ish). There are a lot of vacancies including where Reignforest tea was. We walked the entire perimeter of the top floor once and then the perimeter of the bottom floor twice which was an estimated 1.5 miles. Not a very far walk, but it was with intensity. A few notable stores in the mall were Macy's, rack room shoes and bath and body works. Otherwise, the mall was pretty dead with little activity. The food court was the area that was most booming with activity but it still felt like a ghost town. If you've ever seen zombie apocalyptic movies, it kind of has the vibes like the mall you would be running into to escape from the zombies. Except the mall was already dead when it was open.

Just about any type of business one would need can be found there. You'll find numerous banks, a major drug store, hobby store, beauty supplies, a chiropractor, eye doctor, denture & implant office, gaming store, furniture store, greeting card store, surf shop, clothing stores & many eateries. The center, located in the Greenbrier section of Chesapeake, is not close to me. But I frequent it relatively often because some of my doctors have offices in the nearby Sentara Careplex. After a doctor's appointment I can't resist a visit to Everbowl, my favorite Açaí Bowl shop. There is also the option of picking up a takeout dinner at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. Both favorites are located among the businesses located on out parcels of the market center. The shopping area is clean & well laid out with plentiful parking and a modern facade. For those who live in Chesapeake this is a large and convenient place to shop. For those of us who live quite a distance, it's a regular stop if one of my favorites is there. It's a fun and delicious finale to a doctor's appointment.

But a tenant is my favorite ice cream store, Sundae Scoop. Believe me, it's worth the drive. There is plenty of parking but no handicapped spots close to the stores entrances. Clean and with a modern facade, it gives the appearance of a pleasant place to shop. Joining WalMart & Sundae Scoop the center houses fast food spots Subway & Pizza Hut, Kelly's Tavern, China Kitchen and neighborhood necessities such as hair and nail salons, a dentist, bank and more. I particularly love the ease of finding a business while walking along its sidewalk. The name of each business is listed on a small sign below the sidewalk awning. The simple signs are identical in style and very helpful. This is a shopping center I'll most definitely return to for my ice cream fix, being certain to take home extra pints for later.

Although most of the items are below $5, there are products that are above $5. I purchased several for $25. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back!
